The voices of veterans come alive as former military men and women share their very personal and poignant stories of service. VOICES: Veterans Storytelling Project is the culmination of storytelling workshops by Orange County theatre artist Dave Barton.
In the final video of this series, VOICES Project Facilitator Dave Barton turns the camera onto himself for the first time, in order to finish the process he started with his own father, Kenneth Barton, to tell the story of his service. The elder Barton passed away before it could be completed, so here Dave presents the edited version of his father's memories about serving in the US Air Force from 1952-1955, and as an adviser in Vietnam at the time of the Tet Offensive.
VOICES: Veterans Storytelling Project is presented by Arts Orange County, Heroes Hall at the OC Fair & Event Center, and the Tierney Center for Veterans Services. VOICES is made possible in part through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, the Orange County Community Foundation, Heroes Hall Veterans Foundation, and the William Gillespie Foundation
