Encore bravo 🙏
The Leeward foil is very tolerant to the rough sea. This is the windward foil that loses lift when the sea is too difficult. You can see this situation in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BtjmVf3TN3k.html&ab_channel=GERYS At 3:00min when we cross the wake of a motorboat
The stability looks very impressive. I wonder what happens if curious sailors try to sail with one foil up and one foil down (i.e. take the stabiliser wheels off a bicycle). Does the configuration of foil deployment mechanisms even allow such an experiment, or would damage to a single foil when at sea require the vessel to be sailed only in displacement mode to an appropriate recovery location?
We did some experiments with the windward foil in the up position. We were able to fly, but we would need more experience in the boat to have performance gain compared to the 3-foil configuration. There is no structural concern about the 2-foils configuration.
@@raphaelcensier3943 Great that you already have the curiosity. Looks like a great vessel to develop skills with. Perhaps an analog junior AC-40 class.
