Basically the one that in Uruguay killed an entire fleet with horrible fuel milleage They are one of the main reasons around 40 buses were or are going to be scrapped being only ten to thirteen years old And the main reason nobody buys Mercedes-Benz O-500U chassis

7:47 That sounds more like an engine brake on larger engines, Voith retarters have a spinning turbine that is filled with oil when activated and the resistance created slows the vehicle down.

Enviro 200 Allison is the best gearbox for e200's honestly its so claming relaxing its behaviour too, theres many varients of E200 Allisons with different behaviours and sounding differently from others slightly that are the same euro so its amazing.

Allison gearboxes works great with small engines that rev high and utilize all of the power when you need it.

@8:13 a lot of point in this video aren't entirely true, but for the most part it does describe how a voith acts however for this specific part, yeah they incorrectly call that a kickdown, a kickdown is completely controlled by the driver, not the bus itself which is what it's doing there

a kickdown is triggered by the throttle being fully pressed. This causes the transmission to hold gears longer and makes the downshifts more sensitive

7:41 Wrong both can downshift if the rev is too low or if the full pedal is pressed for kickdown.

The zf opens the clutches afaik so it won’t shift but coast. The DIWA will eg ur going from 50-0 by just rolling, it will mostly stay in gear 3 until 25km/h then shift into 2 and engine will rev up then until 15kmh it’ll shift into 1 and then fully coast and roll out if the bus doesn’t accelerate again

6:40-6:42 Voith also has a whine when its on the 1st gear then makes a epic sound when it changes onto the 2nd gear and the whine stops (note that this only happens sometimes, like if the 1st gear is doing a higher rev than the last time it revved on the first gear)

thats the torque converter noise before it engages, zf gearboxes dont do it because the torque converter engages between 1 and 2
