@@N0sf3r4tuR1s3n No. No they're not. They did make a couple psychobilly/rockabilly songs and that's about it. Delta Bombers are an example of a modern rockabilly band.
only Volbeat could mix old school country / blues with todays metal. With his fantastic metal voice its just perfection. Volbeat is indeed my favorite band these days. greatness Oh and that womans Voice is fucking fantastic. holy
I didn't see the last part of the comment and thought you meant volbeat was shit then I saw the rest and I totally agree I was about to burn you at the stake.
Michael Poulsen is by far the best Rock singer i have heard in the last 2 decades. His live performance is completely amazing. Only been listening to Volbeat for about 5 yrs, the more I listen the better they sound. At 56 yrs old I thought I'd heard the best vocalists yet, but Mike is superior to them all. Keep Rockin guys. Cheers, Ontario, Canada.
Thought this might be useful. Found this online with Michael explaining what the song is about. “This is a country-rockabilly song. When we started rehearsing it, I thought that that it needs something else - a female voice. I had ideas for the lyric where it would have been cool to have a female singer. So I emailed Sarah Blackwood, who is a great Canadian rockabilly singer. I was a fan of her old band, The Creepshow, and her current band Walk Off The Earth are great too. The lyric is about a cowboy who goes to war, and when he finally comes home, he cannot find his wife. The house is empty. What he doesn’t know is that he’s dead - he thinks he’s survived but he’s dead. And the thing is, his wife has passed while he was at war too. So she makes a deal with The Reaper to find her husband and bring him over to the other side…”
I love how the Reaper actually has emotion in this video. Its almost like a double win for him because he gets to do his job by taking her life, but he also gets to see the two lovers together in the afterlife. Awesome.
The Reaper has no emotion, he only does his job, (too well). What I like is the fact that it depicts him trying to outrun Death, so that he can see his wife again
Simple, having your favorite radio playing it over and over again everyday. Just that song, nothing else from Volbeat so after a couple of weeks of "country-meets-metallica" I can surely say I dislike Volbeat
I have never heard of these guys before, but I keep hearing this on my local radio station so I thought I would check out the video. I am not sure why, but the song just kind of sticks with you.
+Chris J from? i heard of them before, pretty famous here around sweden, but i recently heard this song on bandit rock. got rather surpised that i thought i heard him in volbeat so i had to check it up :P seems i got a new lovley song on my list
I hear this song in the radio and I said to my mom: ,,Mom! This is Sarah Blackwood from Walk Off The Earth!‘‘ 😂❤️❤️❤️ Love u Sarah and many greetings from germany🥺❤️
Rita, where have you gone I've been missing you for far too long I feel so blue, haven't you heard I am the lonesome rider, hear the lonesome rider's call home Reaper, where have you gone See the lonesome rider carry on His pain's so blue, haven't you heard He is the lonesome rider, it's the lonesome rider's call home Just feel all the love I'm giving you I'm back from the war, I've been missing you Where have you gone my baby blue I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too Reaper please take him home He's been wandering for far too long He feels so blue, haven't you heard He is the lonesome rider it's the lonesome rider's call home Just feel all the love I'm giving you I'm back from the war, I've been missing you Where have you gone my baby blue I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too The dark reaper led the cowboy ahead into his final sunset The dawn soon to come a cold wind will blow He's on his way home My love never will we be apart And we'll feel the sadness peeling from our fate The day has now come where we belong together again Farewell, so long Rita I'm not alone I can see you waiting in the doorway of our little cabin home I feel so new, haven't you heard I was the lonesome rider, and the lonesome rider is home Just feel all the love I'm giving you I'm back from the war, I've been missing you Where have you gone my baby blue I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too
OMG I just discovered this band last week & I'm just amazed at how incredible they are!!!!!!! Their melodies & lyrical content are OUTSTANDING & so are their videos!!!!!!!
My favorite memory of this song was one time I played it at a bar off the jukebox and some other guy at the other end of the bar started screaming: “YES!!! Who played this???!!” And I answered with a smile, me! And he gave me the hardest highfive I ever got lmao.
@@brandonalcazarproductions5151 you will be surprized of how many people love Volbeat, specially in a bar, plus their songs are not constantly roaring guitars and such, for an example, if you play For evigt, here in Denmark, you will bet people will try not to sing along, their songs are good for when you wanna be cozy and drink with people.
Volbeat should authorise a movie adaptation of their music. The lonesome rider could get killed in world war 1 and sell his soul to the devil in return for seeing his sweetheart again, only to be betrayed. He could find out that she died while he was away fighting, and devise a plan to rescue her from hell while trying to stay one step ahead of the reaper
Ummm...words...mouth...right out of. Sorry, my mind can't catch up to the awesomeness I just witnessed. You hit the nail on the head is what I was trying to say.
Holy crap! Love this song. Just heard it for the first time tonight. Its a new generation of old-school western folksy stuff. Reminds me of Marty Robbins. The story involved is so bad ass. Need more of this kinda music! Cant stop listening to it!
I work on Bråvalla last weekend and heard Volbeat live and i´m so happy. Because it´s was so good. I thought they were a very hard band but they play rocknroll. And they are best.Nice to find a band who is so good when you are 53 years
Once all this covid rubbish is over and we can have concerts again I need to see volbeat live again. It's made me think with everything going on and what a crazy world we are living in at the moment, that we only live once and I'm 40 this year so I'm it getting any younger, I need to start going to more music concerts and doing things that make me happy in life.
I think there is an artstyle to the fact the reaper chases the soldier, and yet patiently follows his "beloved". Almost like the soldier is resisting death to get back home so the reaper has to chase him down. Where as the reaper knows his woman has nothing left and is willing to accept death
That Volbeat isn’t one of the top bands in the US is quite disheartening. They have impeccable musical sensibilities and have the most amazing ability to jump between, and yet bring together the music of the American south (blues, early country and bluegrass), the American Southwest(tex-mex), then blend it with hard rock and heavy metal. There’s nobody like Volbeat. They bring it like no other band i’ve heard. If they ever play Pittsburgh I’ll be there.
True fan to Volbeat since 2007, this is still my altime fav band. Almost Every single song gives me the chills. His voice is... fucking fantastic! I have every album in original, and I am gonna buy everything they ever produce!
Absolutely loved celebrating my actual 50th birthday in San Antonio with my wife while watching Volbeat live, with THE HU opening for them.felt like old school as it was supposed to be at sunken gardens and was moved to some old warehouse looking venue.
Volbeat, in particular Michael Poulsen demonstrate that a bands music is richer when key members/writers have a breadth of influences (eg Country, Elvis, Metal, Danish).
I thought Lola Montez was Great but wow!! Volbeat is kicking A$$!!! What vocals!!! Wow!! My new Favorite Rock Band!! I Love the Dorection this band is going!!
First time i heard this was in the back of my friends 3335i, cutting through traffic at 130+, on the way home from boot camp. to say it was an immaculate experience would be an understatement.
Am I the only one who feels so bad for the old man? It's his job and all but think about how much that has to effect him. As he has to constantly watch people younger than him and older than him be buried and he has to look death in the face knowing one day he'll have the same fate.
