A brief tutorial about how I'm using the Volca Keys on this track: • A-ti-bo-rra-do | Korg ... Use of flux mode, unison and poly modes, portamento and attack times to get more of a sequence. Bandcamp: reciclatusanimales.bandcamp.com/
Good jam and good tutorial 👍 8 months with this little marvel, I'm totally in love with my vk. Simple to understand and creative, this box is a perfect introduction into analog subtractive synthesis. Have fun, and play on.
Yes, it is. The Sample 2 is also very fun with 200 samples you can get some sequences laid out very quickly. It's also only about 120 bucks. If you had to have only one Volca - I'd go with the Sample 2.
Excellent great job. So I just got my keys in the mail and I've been playing it quite a bit. I pretty much understand it except I don't quite understand how to layer sequences such as overdubbing because when I do it and I play over the current sequence that's playing it sounds all distorted and does not sound nice or smooth and I can't hear both sounds. So either I'm doing something wrong or this machine is rather limited. It would be fun to have a tutorial on that.
I have a love/hate relationship with the Keys. First, I couldn't make it sound right, but then I found the right role in the songs where I could achieve great results with it. You have to get to know it well first, and yes, it is limited, but after getting to know it better, you understand how to use these limitations to your advantage. Try separating your voices in terms of frequency, keep them in different octaves and start tweaking, also try different note lengths for each voice. Do not give up.
I do not understand it either. I've been trying for a while now and haven't made it sound like a Arp. The first voice, do you record it live or is it programmed? I can’t play the note so fast without messing it up. I somehow can't get the second voice, the bass, like you do. Congratulations on doing it so well!
You need to set the tempo to the lowest and activate flux mode. In this video the sequence it’s already recorded, at the beginning I’m just showing the notes in it. I recommend recording it with another device as reference for such a slow tempo, with subdivisions. I did it with a volca drum. And yes, I messed it up a lot before get it right. Hope it helps!
Gracias.
