In Iceland, on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the Svartsengi volcano continues to erupt. The eruption began at the end of May 2024 and was already the fifth in the last six months.
According to the latest data, a flow of volcanic lava has blocked the road to the Icelandic city of Grindavik with a population of about 4,000 people. Local authorities are trying to resist the natural disaster and are creating a barrier embankment in the path of lava movement. However, despite all the measures taken, the lava flow literally burns its way through the earthen rampart.
