He used 'partially' so as to not convey the truth that Volition is a complete failure in knowing their own fanbase. This is not the Volition of old, or a Volition that is competent in any regard.
@@M4V3R1CK_13 wrong the former is considered one of the worst games ever meanwhile sr reboot is just the worst game in the entire franchise and at least sr reboot is more playable than ride to hell
the funny thing is I'm pretty sure volition had a lot of creative control on the reboot, DS let them do their thing. The only thing that DS did, that we know of, that affected the reboot was the epic exclusivity. Volition seems more to blame for this trainwreck than DS, but tbf more info could come out later down the line, simairly to AOM.
Apparently Deep Silver had their hands all over the reboot, but who knows. I guess we’ll see from the the reboots planned expansions, or Volitions next Saints Row game under Gearbox. If they’re just as bad, then we’ll know it’s Volition not being capable of making a good Saints Row game anymore
Deep Silver allowed Volition to do whatever they want -- you know this from the developer interviews and quotes themselves. It's all public -- anybody can see this.
@Azuma Eijirō Good taste my friend. From Software, Insomniac and Guerrilla are all great studios. Indie are definitely getting better and better every year, honestly I’ve played more indie/smaller games than Triple A games this year and enjoyed them a lot. An indie game(A Plague Tale: Requiem) is my GOTY too.
Considering how some of the devs handled their responses on the internet, it’s best to just let most of them go and transfer the studio to a new location.
I have the same idea with a Vice Kings Spin Off. It would be a great way to tell the beginning of the band. In the case of a remake/remaster, I find it very difficult, but I hope one day that will come out, especially with Saints Row 1, since Saints Row 1 is exclusive to Xbox.
I like that idea let Saints Row rebrand the name Vice Kings takes place in the 70s to play as Julius Little & Benjamin King fight off against Los Carnelas and other gangs before their time.
Trust me, publishers like Deep Silver have an extraordinary amount of push when it comes to their studios. These days the game developers themselves have very little say in the direction of their games because other aspects such as marketing have largely taken over the groundwork for making a video game. Back in the days of games like Saints Row 1, the team themselves are largely responsible for what the game will be. Nowadays, companies have realized that relying on game developers makes good games, but not games that are as profitable as they could be.
@@hayax That’s not always the case. Good example would be Bioware with Anthem, where Bioware had a lot of freedom to make whatever they wanted but screwed up badly due to mismanagement and lack of care.
Gearbox has a pretty rocky past but in all honesty I’m happy (for now). Once the Reboot support officially stops it’s good fucking riddance to Deep Silver. TIME FOR ANOTHER REBOOT.
They really didn't though. They just distributed and bought back all their studios over time under different names to dodge the effect of bankruptcy. First they reformed and rebranded as THQ Nordic by reforming under their sister company then as the Embracer Group after buying a bunch of new studios and companies. THQ or Embracer whichever you prefer to call them owns Deep Silver. THQ let all this happen, they don't care about their former fans or the ip's they hold.
How much i bet ya this statement by the embracer group is just a polite way of saying "The reboot flopped and we don't know what to do with volition so we will give it to Gearbox"
The fact that volition is still around does not alleviate my concerns , in fact this merger is even worse. If you didn't like the characters from watch dogs 2. Then oh boy , you ain't gonna like borderlands 3 . Gearbox is the company that made this game. So i hold no hope for this direction
Honestly.. this may just be my opinion. But I think this might be good cuz tbh DeepSilver is notorious for using it's employees as walking wallets that are easily shredded and thrown away. At least from everything I've seen. So here is hoping this'll go well! Gives the opportunity for a Saints Row and Duke Nukem corssover too lol. Kidding. I think Duke is still owned by gearbox 🤔
duke nukem will never be part of saints row, volition doesnt own the rights to the saints roww franchise, they left that behind when the deal was set in stone.
When they are at the bottom of the ladder i feel they should take flippy's suggestion and fire anyone who caused the main issues with the reboot and the organization of the company itself, in all fairness i am somewhat happy but also scared for what comes next, my trust in volition continues to dwindle as time passes on
Just remember the type of person Randy Pitchford is before y'all go hoopin' n' hollerin'...and maybe don't check out unattended thumb drives in the Gearbox offices.
I genuinely hope we can maybe get a remake/remaster of Saints Row 1 and 2 now. Probably not, but one can hope with new management comes new and better ideas.
There was literally no reason for volition to go this downhill lol. Especially given their earlier work from red faction and more. It seems everyone just hit the whisky after sr3.
"After (insert entry to the series here) i can't see it getting any worse, right?" has been said ever since SR3 and honestly every time it is muttered it DOES get worse. So maybe we should just start having impossibly bad expectations for the next SR game?
I have big doubts with Gearbox acquisition. I have fear could be just a Borderlands 3 clone with the "comedy humor" we saw in New Tales from the Borderlands and a more of the same with Saints Row reboot.
At this point i just wish they took saints row undercover and finish it, for modern consoles keeing the script, just finishing it, that way they will keep us old school fans happy, make a paralel timeline like a "what if" to make it fin in the canon, hopefully gearbox will treat volition better and guide them into a brighter future and a better life
really, just Super Saints Row 2 Turbo would make any publisher look like the good guy, add gentlemen of the row content, expand every feature, improve the graphics without sacrificing anything from the original and I'll buy the most expensive edition day one
In the style of 3 Remastered. I know they’d be MUCH harder to do than 3 was due to all the QoL things they need to add that 3 basically already had in place but still… that would be so great
Remaster, not remake! There is nothing wrong with SR2 that requires remake! All it needs is a little lift job, drastic improve in optimisation and compatibility support with old hardware, so that more people, who don't have access to the newest expnasive hardware could enjoy it! The story, characters and pretty much everything else is already perfect! Maybe make cars handle a little better, the controls especially on PC are kind of weird...
I'd be down for another reboot as I feel rebooting was always the best decision that could be made for SaintsRow with SRIV and Gat's spinoff writing the series into a corner while also getting too far away from what SaintsRow was. I saw it as a way to get things back to being more grounded and allow for a fresh start and I feel like the reboot we got had some good ideas and did a few things well but was too hard of a reboot and ultimately missed the mark on what fans wanted. I would like to see a soft reboot/remake of the original SaintsRow. Something that tells that story in a new way possibly with a few new characters but mostly the og cast in a reimagined Stillwater and keeping/improving on the level of customization that the reboot did. If Volition can't do it or don't want to do it hand it off to another studio who can. Then volition can continue on making their version of SaintsRow while the fans can get the version that we've wanted since SR3.
All they had to do was remaster saints row 1 and 2 in 4K 60fps, all dlc included, sell it for like 40$ and this would’ve sold well and brought saints row back to popularity.
@Khalil 8991 remastered Mafia games sold well and they're planning on making another game. Tbf the franchise was tainted quite a bit by the state Mafia 3 launched in
Oh no, not _the_ Randy... if Gearbox and Volition want to set things right, Getting the SR2 PC Patch up and running, and start planning out what's next for the series. SR 22' has left a lot of people sour, hope they'll fix things up... but this is *Gearbox* we are talking about.
honestly if the same people who made Saints Row 2022 are making the next Saints Row, or any new game I don't expect any new game to be good and expect the same I'm a nice/likeable guy/girl game be made and not an actual compelling game that looks good
It is being called a merger because Gearbox's management will be replacing Volition's management. Deep Silver didn't know how to manage Volition and were a European company. Gearbox, an American company, is viewed as more capable of managing them. Expect news of high level departures, layoffs, and restructuring in the future.
The people who run the volition twitter or whatever seem so high and mighty about their game with the "haters Gon hate" or whatever but fact is I'd be embarrassed to work for that game developer while they transition into gearbox. It's just like when deep silver bought volition and now volition is going to gear box. Like how many times do they need to be saved from themselves?
Color me tinfoiled, but I seriously think the patch is soft-cancelled. There may have been a decision made to remove the brand from "hood" culture, in lieu of "current tensions." Therefore, any official representation (the patch) of the game isn't being permitted. But they'd be afraid to announce a cancellation over potential uproar and damage of the brand. So what do? Just keep quiet. It's far-fetched, but with elements-within such as their new CM, I don't think it's a rule-out.
Yeah, I think there's a good reason that they've entirely ignored all questions regarding the SR2 patch meanwhile the official social media mocked fans and sent dogpiles at people. Can't waste resources on something which doesn't align with your new plans. I don't think Gearbox will see any value in it either.
It took them 3 months to fix alot of stuff from the reboots launch.... smh bruh the years of waiting and thats we get.. I was a long term fan and I feel betrayed for being that by these new devs
I know what I want, the same thing I've wanted for well over a decade now. Saints Row *V* - Vice Kings. A prequel that takes place in the 70's where you follow a homie of Julius and Ben "MF" King as they Combat Los Carnales and Ben starts to go to far, eventually leading to the death of Angela. Then you and Julius form the Saints and the game ends with you dying dramatically. After that we simply remake 1 and 2 but change it enough so that we can just continue with an altered 3. No space, no aliens and no super powers. Saints Row was never supposed to be wacky, Volition just got lazy and substituted slapstick humour for good writing. Leave the dumb stuff to side activities. This will never happen, as far as I'm concerned Saints Row was buried in a shallow grave with Akuji. From what it seems, Saints row 1 & 2 were a fluke.
@@methheadfreestyle482 I'm just saying that SR1 and 2 were not defined by there wackiness. After that volition used it as a crutch. In 1 & 2 it was just a sense of humour, but we still took Carlos and Lins deaths seriously. Back then the story wasn't sacrificed for a joke. SR2 was the perfect middle ground. Humour belongs in saints row, they just needed to draw a line.
@@RJ_Productions316 Essentially, but the V in Vice kings would be a part of the Logo, A purple Saints row with a big gold V. Maybe graffiti style, I'm sure a graphics designer could come up with something really cool
Honestly, at this point only a miracle can save Volition Between the awful direction/management of the Saints Reboot (besides the fact that the game is awful by today gaming standards) and the news about Gearbox and it's "cuestionable" type of management... Maybe this is gonna be it, and like Killbane would say "The legacy of Volition ends here. Not with a bang, but a whimper"
Yeah, the way Borderlands has been going (especially the newest mainline game), it shares the same tone as the new Saints Row. Not entirely hopeful, but maybe change will be good from the state Volition is currently in
Got a few hopes on my side, Saints Row 1 finally hitting Steam, I want to play it, it's the one I still don't own and still haven't experienced, not having experienced the begining of the story is frustrating, a good Red Faction, been a while, RF's cool and one of the FPS milestones back during the early 2000's. Also, now, under Gear Box, they can get Duke in, imagine Duke Nukem and Johnny Gat absolutely kicking ass together. PS: A good Duke Nukem game, ID Software with Wolfenstein and DooM showed what is possible with these old FPS nowadays, come on, you can do it. Not Volition related, but still, I miss Duke and Forever is still at the back of my throat, don't let this be our most recent memory, come one, such a sad one to say good bie with.
Perhaps Gearbox will do the right thing and make’em bring out some ports. I’ve been playing SR3 and it’s genuinely fun still but I’d love to bring along SR1 and 2. It’d be nice but we’ll see if they learned their lessons, both of them
To be honest I'm really surprised that volition is jumping shipped to gearbox I mean it's going to be a really awesome ride for both for both teams to work together cuz I've been thinking of more ways the one weird ideas that that would have been with a pretty awesome idea with the both old and new saints sort of passing the torch or whatnot or having a remaster of both one and two cuz I haven't owned them yet they'll be pretty badass to enjoy that
As someone who had a hyperfixation on sr for 5 yrs, and had played borderlands for several years now, I honestly think gearbox is going to help fix the series. I play on switch and I play bl2 with a buddy, I got him to play sr3 online with me and he understands - sr would have so much more potential in it if it was given more attention and care like other titles of such notoriety have. I'm excited. I see this as a good thing. :) thank you GEARBOX!
if gearbox can force volition to return to the tone of sr1 than that'd be great, my prediction, confetti on the corpse as the parade it down the streets instead of without, so maybe they'll make another game in 2030 to let the hate die down
Let’s see if this makes any difference after that awful reboot, now idk how true this is. But apparently Deep Silver had their hands all over the reboot. So how Volitions next Saints Row game turns out now that they’re under Gearbox will be very telling
they're all brainwashed fresh out of college zoomers that can't have their ideas challenged, lot of pink haired fatsos on the team too, that'll make for a really sex-negative, fun-negative, linear shitty game
Mabey the dlc expansion to new saints row will have you play as Johnny gat murdering the new saints and i really hope they remaster saints row 1 and 2.
I have a scratched up Duke nukem forever disc that is very glitchy. I'm not sure is it just the game being broken in general or if the scratches have an affect. Well it was still a good deal because I traded in my gta sa xbox 360 copy that is messed up because rockstar thought hiring grove street games would be a GREAT IDEA
Saints Row 1+2 (for both PS4/5,XBox and if they wanna be crazy Switch) would be such a Fan pleasing No Brainer that only could be botched by shitty programming.. though I'd say even an borderline unplayable Port of SR1&2 would be more enjoyable than SR(2022) + it could be patched into playability where the Reboot can't be saved.. well outside of the FanDub! That shit is hilarious!
Tbh I really don’t like Deep Silver so Volition leaving Deep Silver could be good news. I got reasons I hate Deep Silver since how they treated Techland which was the original creator of the first Dead Island game. But Techland went on to be there own publisher and developer to make the Dying Light games. So hopefully Volition leaving Deep Silver and being under Gearbox turns things around and like I said whatever Zilla saw and was under NDA for that seemed promising hopefully isn’t affected or maybe turns out to be better. 🤞
The fans got better ideas of how we could save the franchise. I got many ideas. They could make a game takikg place in the Saints Row universe with a different gang. There being sequences between themselves, the Saints of course. They could start working together and become allies. Or a Saints Row game taking place after the events of Saints Row GOOH. Instead of being cops they will form the Saints again, like they could mix the vibes from sr1, sr2 and even srtt with something new, bring back the full cast, including the ones who were killed like Carlos or Lin and Boss cousin making an appearance as well being aboe to play as Boss cousin!
I really hope Gearbox do commission a Saints Row 1 and 2 remaster, I would love to have the first game on PC finally. I'm actually kinda optimistic about Volition no longer being under Deep Silver at this point.
The best thing that could happen to the _Saints Row_ franchise is if just went away quietly and never returned. The reboot didn't just kill it; it slaughtered it. Don't bring it back. Just enjoy the classic games.
