My dealership told me it would be $6000 to replace all sensors and get a new module. All because the airbag light came on for no reason. Thank you for sharing this!
Hey people.....if it is a hard fault the light will not reset. Our 2003 beetle had the wires pull out of the seatbelt latch assembly; a very likely spot for an open circuit. There is a yellow and blue wire that feeds into the seatbelt latch; it runs parallel to the steel wire assembly that secures the whole thing to structure. About 8.5 VoltsDc is at these 2 wires. I pulled the wires clean out the latch assembly and soldered in a 430 Ohm resistor to the wire. The airbag light is then reset with one of those specialty reset tools from Amazon ($40). The entire process takes just a few minutes and will save you a thousand dollars from the damn dealer. The airbag light is off and more importantly the ABS System is now ACTIVE and FUNCTIONAL!!!! Peace out.

Hello I took my vw polo 2004 seats out to wash and unplugged the airbag after refitting seats the airbag dash light won't go off, will doing this sort the problem.

The people at my garage are charging a ridiculous price as my airbag light now comes onthe dashboard. In doing what you've done with resetting how does this fix the actual problem of the airbag fault? (confused)
Will this clear fault in a golf MK5 2004 1.9 TDI? Air bad fault light came on after removing the passenger air back switch while the car was started.. Stupid idea I know, but only saw the video afterwards when I was stuck :(
Did it work. I removed my glvoebox from my tiguan and removed the switch also while running didn't thibk it would cause an issue when replugged it now error fault

Went to a panel beater with really good equipment. Turned it off. 10 minutes work. The so called pro couldn't do it because he had the normal crap metre.

Thank you for replying. Did not detect any broken cables under hood or under seats. Jump start attendant connected his mobile charger and had me restart the car, that was it. Manual talks a lot about the passenger air bag switch, located on the instrument panel (when something might be faulty it supposes to flash; don't see it). If dash board airbag icon won't go off, a second or two, after starting means according to VW owner's manual: "pretensioner system malfunction or airbag disabled." What does this mean and can it be a DIY?

Got the tool and everything was working great until I tried to erase the error codes. In the video the message PROTOCOL KWP2000 briefly flashes, but that is where my unit hangs and becomes unresponsive.
All I heard was a load of clicking switches. No explanation as to work being carried out. And seen very poor camera footage. Could not see what was being done on Theo.b.d. unit. Beu then again I suppose there was no irrelevant and irritating background music.
because untill the aibags are not replaced (you have to do it every 10 years), the error signal will come up again in the cpu. the best thing is to remove the airbag wiress under the seat, or the ones that give light to the signal. i'm trying to figure out how to do take off the dashboard now so i can tur off the light.
