Thanks mate! Fixed my 2017 Passat R-Line wagon Alarm issue. Did the same as you and must’ve pressed it while opening the sunroof. Kept saying the tailgate was open when locking the vehicle and sent the siren and lights off as soon as it armed. Pressed the bloody rear light button and solved all my problems. Very helpful!

Ok my alram was offset because of a door not being shut right on a freeze last winter, So mine is randomly going off still, i need to know how to reset it for the drivers door. I have a 2002 VW JETTA Wagon GLS

My mom's '09 jetta didn't have that button. I just pressed all the light buttons and some radio buttons and something worked. Keyfob is working again and the alarm isn't going off anymore.

Before you start ripping your car apart check the condition of your battery, I had this fault, so I got the best battery I could afford and problem solved

Tech didn't want to know the problem because 99% of the time it's something stupid that the end user did and they don't want to embarrass them. But I also never take my car to the dealership or mechanic. You can't rely on other people to work on your own car.
