In this video, I will show you how the fix the cup holder slider. This is quite a common issue with the Golf 7, as the plastic sticks loose it stickiness after some time and then fall of, which is causing the problem.

Great video! I lost my bank card in there too and the lid was stuck about 80% open. You don’t have to unplug the storage compartment, there’s enough cable to just hang it out to the left. If you’ve got an auto like me, you’ll need to put the gear in D or N as you won’t have enough room to pull the storage compartment out. You’ll also need to unplug the cable for the gear indicator lights too.
My wife just put one of our keys to flat there and ... This is one of the most stupid constructions VW ever did. Together wind the windows slider in Golf3/Golf4 where at some stage the glas just falls into the door. edit: was able to open everything, unfortunately my wife was driving around and the key slid all way back under the ventilation tube. cut up the isolation material and fished for 1-2 hours until i blocked it with 2 screw drivers from each side to prevent it sliding away. got it now 😅 daaaamn Golf
Thanks for the video man, hope I'll get mine fixed myself. The issue with mine is that it would not fully open. Something gets stuck when open to 60-65% which renders the second holder useless. I'll take my chances and have a go at some point.
Your welcome 👍 I believe it's one of the loose plastic sticks that is blocking the slider at the 60% mark. Opening the cupholder console should fix the issue. Good luck man

Funniest story: My girlfriend put her ring on the cover and it felt down the space under the cup holders by the little opening in its root. It wasn't funny back then when I was panicking.
Today my id card slided into the console, i don't remember when i was that angry, frustrated, stressed and incredulous. this is a BIG, BIG minus point for VW, how the hell you design that stupid thing??? this causes a very stressfull situation and i need a refund from your stupid flaws, damn you VW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Marcos-qq6jb Hi, maybe try to acces from the bottom sticking your fingers from below the console but as you have noticed the space is very limited and it's hard if you don't see the card where it is. I have don't succeed that way and ended up to dismantle the entire console like on this video.
