TIP...if you replace your wiper blades whether using service mode...or not (easier using it) put a large thick sheet of cardboard or a nice thick towel on the screen adjacent to the wiper arm position. Once the blade is removed if you should accidentally knock the arm it comes crashing down on the screen with enough force to crack your windscreen ...ask me how I know 😪😪😪
Agree, but I don't think the mk4 needed wiper service mode. I could lift up the arms on mine without this. Sadly I also had 'beach keys', which I could take into the sea on my mk4. These could open door but not start car as they didn't have the chip. The mk4 also had a service key. I find the mk7's keys a pain, but I would miss the adaptice cruise.
Re: front seat drawer - my 7.5 GTI Performance doesn't have one. I asked VW about it and they said that the seats adjust to a lower setting than in the mk7's.
you can set the comfort opening of the windows VIA the key fob, in the windows setting - you can set it to open all of the windows, only the drivers one or, you can disable that feature example: your kid plays with the key and opens the windows, in the meantime the rain is pouring outside. Or another, did you know that if you leave your lights on Auto, and set your wipers on auto as well the lights go ON if it rains :) Or install stronger (at least 800N originals are around 500N) hydraulic Trunk Lift Supports and hold the trunk button for few second the trunk opens by it self :)
Here’s one Iv just found out after 7 years of ownership , hold the milage trip “00“ down then turn the ignition on then press once more to get past the service reset and it tells you your battery percentage % 👌🏼
I’m currently looking to buy a mk7 gtd. I’ve owned every other mark of golf from mk1 to mk5 (ok, I’ve missed the 6) and I can’t wait to get back into a golf with a mk7. Such a well designed and thought out car. I’ve loved your videos and glad you seem to have had such a good experience with yours.
Cool. I think I've found all these, but not worked out how to activate the wider service mode till now. Will try this next time to check. As others have said many of these 'features' were on earlier models. There's also an underseat draw on the passengar side. The mk7 GTD is still an excellent car but I wish its rear seats folded the same as the mk4. That said the adaptive cruise, multilink rear suspension, xenon headlamps, better infotainment and more power are huge improvements. There are also plenty of minor ones, but a few steps back, too.
Car porn at its best 😜 well a surprise for a lot of folk I own the same car the same colour 66 plate but I do no about all them hidden features but it’s great video 👍
That’s three I didn’t know about great video thank you I just love my MK7 VW Golf GT 2.0 TDI in my mind probably the best Golf ever built. I’ve had 2 Mk2’s,a Mk4,a Mk6, a Mk6 which was great but I got T Boned in my local Tesco’s Car Park. Car was written off (only done 67k) 11 years old and it was “mint”. Hopefully the Mk7 will last us another 10 years (if I live that long) it’s done 58k and is 9 years old.
Hate new cars it thinks you can’t drive! Always trying to do adjustments like Laine assist that was the most useless feature! Get a Mk2 Golf! And drive a proper one not these crappy new cars that fall to parts after a few miles
You can't open the hood (bonnet) with the door closed, it's on purpose. I don't know if this is still the case, but on my Mk 5, you couldn't activate the wipers if the hood is ajar. Also, if you take the rear parcel shelf off, you can stow it under the boot floor by tilting it the tray sideways, and then laying it flat under the floor above the spare tire. I don't remember if you have to remove the plastic cubby dividers also or if it will only fit with the boot floor in the upper position, but I found this (literally) hidden feature one day by accident.
There’s more info on that here :) VW Golf GTD Review - after 8 years is it still any good? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0KBFyZcZ_Cc.html
Im loking forwqI'm sure this will be my next car. I have a '98 Corolla as my first car and this would be the best option to have the best of both worlds. Thank you for the videos about this wonderful car.
I knew many of these already but the wiper service mode was a great tip, i knew the car had it but couldn't figure out how to activate it, thanks for helping out
Hi ..Must say thanks for using the on getting into the car...Had a mishap whilst installing a dash cam....Car locked when outside of the car ..Key fob would not responed at all....Used your advice and was able to gain entry ..Using the key...Thank you
I dont know if its a hidden feature but i managed to transfer around about 200 albums woth album art on to my car may be a good thing fpr people who dont have android auto available.
hey mate, is this car any good? i want to buy one too but i m kinda scared. idk about the reliability of the car, is it gonna burn my pockets with repairs
If you watch this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KV4r5xTTLqk.html you can see how much mine has cost me over the years. Hope that helps.
Looks like you have keyless entry too which is handy if you have your hands full. With the key in your pocket just press your thumb on the small indented line on the handle and the car will unlock. Same for locking.
Assume you've got an SD card inserted. Maybe take the SD card out and re-insert? Or hold radio button down for 30 secs or so to reset. Let us know how you get on.
here's a handy useful find i think most people probably know! - The boot floor tray when raised, to get access to the spare wheel area, can be 'clipped' in the 'open' position by two handy push-in-out clips either side of the parcel shelf stays! Saves having to hold the boot floor open while rummaging around one-handed! :)
I have a 7.5 GTI PP, key battery died no warning, called VW assist out….did I feel stupid🤣🤣🤣😝. Have to say I didn’t know about holding fob to side of steering column till the guy showed me
@@mikereports Thank you for a great video Mike, didn't know about the fuel filler one! Low battery did catch me out once, and there is not a great deal of warning at all, maybe only a few days! Lesson learned there!
Not even watched it yet but my guess is every “hidden feature” is clearly listed in the owners manual. Begging the question, how are they hidden exactly? But i’ll watch it anyway. Update, the mk7.5 does have the under seat draw.
For discovery media are some tutorials how to download new codes which can give more features. there are also a couple of chips in the trunk, you can change its height, just lift and pull the floor towards yourself and closer to the rear seats there will be teeth to insert it lower by -1 and -2 levels And many more will not notice but if you need to pull out the spare wheel, then lifting the floor along the trunk box there is a lock that holds this floor is in the raised position. And the upper curtain, which is held on ropes, if it interferes, then it can be folded, it must be disconnected from the trunk lid, filled out from the trunk, unfolded and inserted back as on these 2 rollers on which it was held at the seats, then it can be lifted and pushed so that the curtain is tightly pressed to the rear seats, and then the trunk will not be limited by the curtain in height (sorry for the mistakes I write from the translator)
