Its great that you repair and drive this old Passat. I have the same car and for me its one of the best Passat of all times. Good driving experience, safe and so solid. AND you can repair the car without using a workshop. Good luck and enjoy the car.
Thanks, I am really enjoying the car already. One of my best purchases in a decade. Just need to catch up on maintenance. Some things were really neglected
Thanks 👍 yeah mostly usual maintenance work that could have been done before the inspection if I had paid more attention to the front of the car. Was just super focused on that rear beam
I am owner of a Volkwagen Passat from 1985, five doors, 70 HP(1588cm3 diesel turbo), 4 electric windows, 300000km rust free and paid 600€...Timing belt and rear wheel bearings to be changed...Nothing more....Mention "collector's vehicle" on the registration document ! Reduced technical inspection every five years ! No traffic limts ! According to French legislation...
That was a sweet deal 👍 I am way over 600€ in this car now and it still needs a lot. If I sorted out the visual damage I could apply to Historic vehicle registration but that doesn't give much incentives. As far as I know, only annual tax is canceled
Some kind of mixed copper alloy. Bought a roll some years back, when a tech did my Golf brake lines and returned the leftovers. The ones on the Golf held up nicely, so didn’t stress on these ones
Great job with the rear axle and brakes and very interesting video !!! In the next weeks, I will buy an VW Passat 1.6 D from eighties very similar to yours. Thank you for the video.
