FR FR Kageyama BE LESS AWKWARD CHALLENGE (affectionately). One of my fav mini storylines on the show is how Kageyama levels up with his teammates by learning how to smile, or do a high five or give a compliment...HE MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COST!!! 😭 Furudate knew what they were doing by making him the youngest on the team, he's barely 15 when all the other first years are 16 🥺🥺 I nearly died when I read in the guidebook that Kageyama knows his smile is scary so he practices it in the mirror...DON'T WORRY CUTIE WE LOVE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL 😘😍

Honestly, even though most of my favorite episodes are from the actual tournaments, this whole training arc is high-key my favorite arc of the whole series. All of the character growth, the new volleyball concepts that get shown, introducing Yachi and all of the other schools, in my opinion this is what makes Season 2 the best overall season of Haikyuu. Kuroo deserves some more appreciation. Even aside from going out of his way to help the other guys get better, he's just a good teacher. He's so good at explaining the mechanics of blocking in a concise and easy to understand way. I also love the little bit of him overlooking Lev ditching his receiving lessons because it gives them a chance to play 3-on-3.

Kuroo reassuring Hinata that they’d continue their practice game the next day is actually a new addition in the anime (not from the original story), and I really love it :”) Right along with that scene where Kuroo explains that he wants to make the Battle of the Garbage Dump a reality. You can see that he might be somewhat, not sure what the right word would be, embarrassed? when talking about it, and he brushes it off pretty quickly (though both Hinata and Tsukki seem to feel the importance), that’s so nice and thoughtful of him in the first place.

Yeah they call him Chibi (small) and -chan is usually an honorific for girls or people way younger than you. Kuroo basically saying hinata is a child, Oikawa also calls Hinata Chibi-chan Grandpa ukai called hinata Chibisuke (with suke meaning helper) and later, called him Chibitaro (taro meaning eldest son, hence why the kids mentioned he got promoted from Chibisuke to Chibitaro).
@Dude_Online
@Dude_Online 2 месяца назад
Although it's not specifically for girls, it's more used as a cute or adorable term. It can also be used as a slight tease, which is the case with Hinata. They're basically calling him little fella ;3

@laiofurious6433 2 месяца назад
@@Dude_Online yes, exactly this, works the same with Oikawa calling Kageyama "Tobio-chan" (disrespectfuly using Kageyama's first name AND adding the -chan in a teasing way) and Iwaizumi "Iwa-chan" (shortening his last name and adding the -chan in a more friendly way, as of course they're childhood friends)

@@laiofurious6433 Just as a side note, Oikawa calling Kageyama by his first name isn't inherently disrespectful because he was his upperclassman (and that dynamic usually remains even if they aren't actually teammates/students/colleagues anymore), superiors or older students calling someone younger by their name is socially acceptable, although a lot of people would still use the last name initially to lets say "test the waters". Having said that Oikawa absolutely means it in a disrespectful manner and that's probably why he reinforces it with the "-chan".

I love this episode because it shows us why Hinata is TRULY the ☀in every which way. Yes he's warm, friendly, energetic, and he's good with people. All that is true. But more importantly, Hinata IS relentless. He is the person who puts everything in motion, he forces people to change and adjust. Everyone; from Kenma to Tsukki to Lev to Asahi responds to that challenge because his competitiveness lifts everyone to be better. He is the burning, demanding heat which overwhelms and is impossible to ignore. Remember, it was his desire to change the quick that catalysed Karasuno's growth as well. He compels everyone around him to act. Kageyama is not used to being challenged. He usually sets the boundary of what's possible and most people can't reach him. Remember, his middle school fall out with his teammates was because he thought "they didn't give enough effort, they're not matching me". Not Hinata. As rivals, Hinata doesn't give an inch, and so Kageyama HAS to evolve to keep up with him. The relationship has changed. Before, Hinata had complete trust in Kageyama's toss and therefore was the reliable "oni" club to his setter. NOW, Hinata's trust is THE challenge. It's a " I'm going to evolve and if you don't match me then I'm going to go on ahead. You wouldn't want that, would you? You wouldn't want to be the loser. Can you keep up with ME? Of course you can, I'll never doubt you." It's exactly echoed by Kageyama to Hinata as well. It might also be interesting to note that at 9:00 , it shows Kageyama's blank face. It could mean a lot of things. But the manga is a little more clear. It says something along the lines of "All of Kageyama's worries disappeared, his face finally relaxed." Which implies that KAGEYAMA who was stressed out by failure felt reaffirmed that Hinata had absolute trust in him, and didn't doubt him for a second - so he should keep practicing! He has to match his partner's trust. The same with Hinata, who was working hard to match Kageyama's trust as well by hitting different mid air spikes. That's why Kageyama might be the "King", but Hinata's always challenges him to the "throne". And Kageyama needs that, because as a person who is so demanding, full of pride, and a "genius" he stands alone. But not anymore, because Hinata is as demanding, as greedy, as competitive as he is and so there's finally someone who catalyses HIS growth as well. In a way, Hinata (and Suga) pushes Kageyama the most to be the setter ideal that Oikawa is so scared he'll become. Hinata and Kageyama practice relentlessly, always trying to match each other and evolve because neither can bear to lose. They refuse to disappoint each other. It's a beautiful dynamic. It's forever a "one more toss, one more set".

What I love about Yamaguchi is that he was his own person from the beginning. Even if Tsukishima didn't like Hinata, Yamaguchi still was friendly with him, and even convinced Tsukishima to help them with their studies, and was the one to recommend they go see Yachi for more help. He also sought Yamada to develop his own skill even though Tsukishima wouldn't have done something like that himself. Yamaguchi is one of my favourite characters and he only gets better.

Yeah Haikyuu constantly gets that sort of thing right. The other example that comes to mind is Iwaizumi. He could easily just be the sidekick that joins in with Oikawa's trash talk, but instead he's completely wholesome (to everyone but Oikawa).

The training camp arc is interesting to me because I don't think you can fully appreciate it until you see the later episodes and then rewatch it lol The training camp is where a ton of growth happens, personality-wise and volleyball-skill-wise, but obviously it isn't complete and they're still experimenting and learning, so it's only when they get to a game that you see the end result. So the first time you watch it, even if you enjoy it, you don't get to fully appreciate the growth being done. But when you watch it a second time, you can spot things from the training camp that come up later and can enjoy the growth more than the first time.

with the discussion at 10:54 i can understand what Sarah is saying that Kageyama doing the parabola pass is being a good teammate, but we also have to remember that this is only a practice match, where theyre supposed to be practicing something new to get better. If it had been an actual game, it could be said thta Hinata is action out of pocket, but since it is a practice match i think Hinata has all the right to call out Kageyama like that.
@Kim-ng4ti
@Kim-ng4ti 2 месяца назад
Also, being "good teammates" in a being nice-kinda way is not how this duo functions. They are so good as teammates precisely because they are so comfortable with making each other UNcomfortable. They don't hold anything back from each other, they always push each other way past their limits. That also portrays that unwavering believe in each other that they are going to follow through no matter what. Kags holding back is almost like an insult to their entire relationship. Kageyama didn't do anything wrong here, he just needed that reminder that Hinata doesn't want or need him to be considerate, even subconciously.

I don't know if Sarah enjoys more when Adam understand the title of the episode or when at the start, he doesn't know why its named that way, her smile is SO big! In my imagination, i always thought of Kageyama being Iwa-chan and Oikawa's child lol. Even though Kags has a fierce rivalry with Oikawa, Kags does aim to be like Oikawa in the sense of maximizing and evolving the skills of his spikers. Then Iwa-chan's love language towards Oikawa is violence. Kags' love language towards Hinata is violence as well haha

Just a short scene where you can see them in casual shirts bc they are "normal human beings in a camp", their (Hinata and Yachi) hair is even different because they have just woken up. And of course there is one that stayed asleep because OF COURSE that happens now and then. 26:47 ohhh dangg. When Adam said this, it's so perfect with the saying "the world is so fair yet it's so unfair" (iykyk). Being tall & big sure is advantageous in volleyball (especially their reach/wingspan), but sometimes it still has its own drawbacks in games against smaller players to tool them. And the same goes the other way around too, smaller players might be in a more disadvantage positions, but the more skilled they get, the more thay have the 'surprise' effect from being agile & able to see the bigger opponents clearly in their field of vision. Surely Sarah described it right, the smaller players tend to have more tricks up their sleeves 😂💖 p.s. Can we appreciate Daichi with his timing about the bbq? dude could've shared it with the whole Karasuno members, but nopeee, he just went to the 4 wild kids when they ran out of gas lol

Sarah’s dad asked me to come to the gym to help Sarah train. I was just out of playing university ball and was a pretty good blocker. He told me to try my best and block her while she was attacking. I figured this would be relatively easy….. I didn’t block her once and she tooled my block over and over. I was not as good as I thought I was lol
