That polarity for C2 allows C2 to charge correctly during the negative half-cycle and ensures the PROPER OPERATION of the half-wave voltage doubler. Else, it would not multiply and simply give a zero.

During negative half cycle the loop current direction should be anticlockwise... Please correct me if I am wrong.. Your all lectures are very easy to understand.. Thanks for educating us 🙏

You can take any direction of loop ....here its for Voltage.

In the first half cycle V(c1)=V(m). So when V(m) tends to zero the capacitor should be discharged. So the updated V(c1)=0 after first half cycle. So In the next Half cycle V(c2)=0+V(m). Maybe It will not work as voltage multiplier. But if we double the no. of turns in the secondary coil we will directly get double voltage without adding any additional circuits. Isn't it ?

yes but read the purpose of voltage multiplier again at the very beginning of the video, "maintain low transformer peak voltage". That is if we dont want to use transformer in that manner then we can use the voltage multiplier circuits instead.

During negative half cycle D1 won't conduct. So path is open and C1 can't be discharged.

For all who does not know how the polarity of c2 is coming like that. Then listen, Bhai simple hai. Look carefully in case of negative half cycle, negative terminal of v(in) is connected to the upper plate of c2 so, negative charge will be there and positive terminal is connected to the lower plate of c2 so that's why positive charge will accumulate there. Thats why polarity is like that.

so in 4:40 (positive half cycle) Vout is 0 because D2 is open circuit. Is it right? thanks anyway.

Dear sir, I have prepared the circuit but don't get quardripler voltage input 24v ac and out put at the end capacitor is 75v DC only it should be 100v. Please guide me to solve this problem. With regards Harish Suneja

I think there's an error here. The diode wouldn't be fully forward-biased in the whole +ve half cycle. It would only be forward-biased for the first +ve quad cycle. After that, as the capacitor is fully charged the potential just after the capacitor is greater than the other (i.e., reverse biased)

Vighnesh Tamse - while writing KVL assume any polarity and write the equation. If Vc2 comes out to be negative then assumed polarity is wrong then to correct the polarity just reverse the polarity you have assumed. In this video sir got the answer in positive I.e.Vm therefore his assumed polarity is correct.

@@shubhamnayak9369 is that applicable only for capacitors ? because when you deal with diodes there is a specific polarity and if you ever obtain a negative output it is not considered wrong . Just like Halfwave rectifiers with output of -Vm

@@snowwhite3478 diode is a nonlinear Device .. it is ON only in specific direction while capacitor is a bilateral device which conducts in both directions..so you don't need to check polarity of diode as you already know it's polarity...but if you learn further you will get to know that incase of diode you find whether diode is ON or OFF by observing current direction..i.e you assume diode to ON so direction of current is from anode to cathode and if current value is -ve then actual current is flowing opposite to your assumed direction but we know that current through diode can't flow from cathode to anode so your diode is in OFF condition.
