What Pedro Almodóvar film would you recommend for a first timer?

¿Qué he hecho YO para merecer esto!! (What have I done to deserve this?!!) from 1984. Because I think it has a manageable amount of darkness so that you can decide if you want to continue watching more of his films that are more raw and include more disturbing topics like incest or rape. But if you just want to have a good time, watch “Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios” (Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown) because is very light and funny (I think is his only movie that is intended as comedy).

Yeah, those echoes of abuse makes what happen to Paco all the more significant. It also makes the title of 'Volver' not just about her mother's return, but the way history tends to repeat itself.
