Volvo should definitely dip more into the performance/tuner world of the cars and engineering. With the old S60r it would be nice to see something similar in the future. Never owned a volvo but was thinking about one for my next vehicle.
1- Intake 2-intercooler 3-catted downpipe 4- manifold 5-diverter valve 6-wastegate. notice the engine mount as well!!! Watch the video for brand names!!! I have a 2015 S60 T5 AWD that I will be adding these components to. I am thinking about titanium studs and enjoy the pedal feel of stainless steel brake lines.
My only gripe is with the K&N recommendation. K&N drop-in filters allow for more dust ingestion due to there being larger openings in the filter media (larger holes over the same surface area = less restriction). I would recommend getting a stock paper filter and simply removing the foam meant for intake sound reduction. Some aftermarket paper filters don't even come with it. Aside from that, great video!
I would like to respectfully disagree. The k&n filter if oiled properly will filter dust even better then oem paper filter will. They just need to be cleaned and reoiled properly every 10k miles or so.
@@cammgt3rs370 superior? No they did filtration tests and the dry ones let alot more dust through. And performance is same for k&n and dry. The only small downside to k&n is that you cant put too much oil on them if you do you will get your maf dirty.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2015 S50 R Design Platinum Polestar tuned. Should I get the Stage three or does the Polestar tune from manufacturer, make stage 3 unnecessary?
Thank for the helpful vids it’s hard to find stuff for these cars my car is a s60 2012 t6 I’ve got the tall d088 intercooler and noticed so much difference but only have a polestar tune atm can’t find anywhere in nsw to dyno it
Glad you like them. And there are alot of companies that make parts for these cars now. Ipd, kt4, elevate, vivaperformance, shark performance, do88, snabb, gfb...
Would the intercooler alone make a hp difference? My understanding of these cars is that the computer tells the engine how much power to make based on the tune you have and an intercooler is mainly going to help with allowing you to drive harder for longer but not necessarily give you more power since the polester tune is going to limit you to ~325hp
Thanks for sharing. On my P3 2.4d awd xc60 I have done a do88 short and fat intercooler and already have a JR drop in air filter to fit in the box, normally this weekend I will install the air filter. I won't do a downpipes because that is not allowed here.
Great Volvo coverage! Where can I get custom genuine Volvo side skirt ground effects that will fit my 2018 Rebel Blue S60 Polestar? Similar to Jay Leno's concept version he's got... Thank you and Go Volvo!!
HI. I congratulate you on your fantastic work. I'm taking my s80 3.0 t6 to a stage 2: suction d088 downpipe ipd high intake manifold ecrv valve high wastegates intercooler and pipes d088 Do I need to carry out improvements to the automatic transmission? You can recommend a great set of candles. Would your old Hilton Stage 2 tune be good for this setup? Thank you for your time. Greetings from Italy
Good stuff! pretty much exactly all the mods I have planned for mine. I've been toying with the Tuning though....it sounds like you'd advise doing the mods FIRST, then tune? I was thinking the other way around and then having the tune adjusted once all the mods are done since I can imagine a tune, even stock, would give the most gains, bang for buck overall?
Do you think an inter cooler is an important upgrade on a more daily driven car (I.e. using power mostly for overtaking, on ramps)? I’ve got an intake pipe, cone filter, and down pipe and looking at a Hilton tune now but don’t know if I should get an intercooler beforehand.
How much HP and torque did your car make stock vs how much it makes now? Maybe make a video showing all the mods you have and how much gains each individual mod got you.
Each individual mod that impossible. But stock these cars make 289whp and 350ft lbs at wheels. At stage 2 i dynoed 350whp and 500ft lbs. And i made few videos on my channel going over my mods. But i can make seperate one just going over stage 2 mods i had and after stage 3 is done i can make one for stage 3 also.
I’m just curious what were your last Dino numbers to the wheels and to the crank or if you don’t have a crank that’s fine I’m just curious at least to the wheels also thank you so very much for your videos I know it takes a lot of time and I do appreciate it another S60 owner myself
Hey man, older video but I just picked up a 2010 xc70 with the T6 3.0 six, and I’m curious if you know how much additional boost the engine can handle in stock form without drastically increasing the wear on it. I’m considering getting a larger intercooler and inlet pipe kit from do88, additional boost pressure from the stock turbo, a full transmission and differential servicing/fluid change, and a dyno tune for the new higher airflow. I’m not looking to make it a monster, but if the engine can handle it without reinforcing the internals, I would definitely enjoy a moderate ~15% power increase. Just get it down to about 6 seconds flat for the 0-60.
Stock turbo you can put all bolt ons on it you want and max out the turbo it still won't be enough to kill the engine. With larger hybrid turbo max boost is about 25-26.
And we got out to 4.3 seconds 0-60 with basic bolt ons. Stage 2 tune and 2gallons of e85 on full tank. And no it wasn't tuned for e85 just regulars stage 2 tune.
Awesome, thanks dude. I’ll go ahead and start saving up for the parts and labor to get it all done next year. The XC70 T6 is certainly no sports car, but if I can make her just a little bit stiffer, a little bit more powerful, and put some smaller/lighter wheels and off-road tires on it, she’ll be an unstoppable monster on Wisconsin backroads.
Hey there I just recently got my car and was looking at the cheapest way to add 100hp, you mentioned you got a dyno before and after using the elevate intake? what did it make before and after the intake? I was wondering the hp gains from just that part
Before and after elevate intake manifold/plenum. That after all the rest of the bolt ons were done. But that part alone with tune adjustment gained 20whp and 50ft lbs of torque. I made video on that specifically.
For my 2012 XC60 T6 (B6304T4), iPd offers an Engine ECU Flash Tune [+70 HP]. My car is 100% stock. What do you think about it? Considering I would not do any other mods.
I’m looking at one of these for sale right now. 2012, T6, 125k on the dash in great shape and it’s for sale for $6000. Just wondering if you think it’s worth buying and making it stage1-2? Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thanks for the great video!!
2012 is the oldest year i would recommend that the year they first upgraded the transmission. Just make sure all services are done, transmission, diffs, haldex... and oil trap.
At what point in mods would you upgrade the trans? These cars are torque monsters, which I know is hard on them. Makes me want to go big turbo early on to lower torque.
Just service it every 20k and you will be fine. I would upgrade when you get close to 500ft lbs. Atleast add cooler. But stage 3 you will need high pressure valve body
I guess that's why you went to a 3.5" down pipe and catback exhaust, more back pressure. You can't have it both ways. You either want less back pressure or you don't. To make the turbo spool quicker you either need to have a smaller turbo or more exhaust pressure pre-turbo and the more heat you can keep in your exhaust to the turbo the better/quicker the turbo will spool up.
Theres just the mechanical part of the valve that gfb sells. But elevate volvo sells thw whole valve. Recirculating and atmospheric. I suggest the Recirculating to avoid boost surges.
@@BuiltForSpeed I've been looking at the recirculating valve from Elevate, but they sell a dual port vale and a single port, is one better than the other?
@@BuiltForSpeed Haven't bought one yet. Still have the 2005 S60T5 and 2012 Audi A4. How did you do against VW golfs and S4s. I am looking to get into one of these.
@@cammgt3rs370 raced supercharged s4, the rdesign t6 takes it, same goes for golf r.. the golf r has good launch control that the only better part from the golf r. The audi s4 reacts better to upgrades in my opinion. So if you start modding the s4 it becomes quick alittle easier.
@@BuiltForSpeed Oh I thought the Golf R was moded. DIdn't know it was stock. I am honestly not a fan of the S4s crappy loose feeling steering. And for Golf Rs I like the look of the Volvo better.
@@cammgt3rs370 that stock to stock. I also raced golf r that had intercooler piping and intercooler and intake with tune i believe. And i had about same mods. I believe i had downpipe i don't think he had one. My tune wasnt finished but i still gapped him. He launched from spot abit quicker that about it.
