Great video.. I'm a mercruiser mechanic and just worked on a Volvo fuel pump problem up on Lake Winnepausake in NH. These Volvo Penta fuel pump set ups are quite different than the Mercruisers ( and GM vehicles ).
Hi, I’m on lake Winnisquam and I’m having fuel issues I think.. I have a 2001 5.7l gsi that has electric double barrel carb. My issue is that it start and runs just fine at idle and up to 1500 rpms but when I get past that and get up on plane it feels like I’m getting 85% power and when I hold at let’s say 3000rpms it with sound and feel like the engine is pulsating power or getting a burst of power for 1 sec then drop back to that 85% power feel. Hoping someone can help me with this!!
Mercruiser uses the oil pump cut off. Volvo Penta does not. Start circuit powers fuel pump until engine running. When release starter switch, and engine running, ......Alternator powers same Relay socket, and powers the fuel pump at that point, when all is working correctly.
