Enjoy the DIY videos. Id never thought about pumping the oil out of an engine, always just dropped my car oil out the sump. How come there are the two inline fuel filters and then another one on the engine or was I missing something there? Also where did you learn how to sail cruisers like this, are there courses you can do?

Thank you for watching and to answer your questions. The sump on my Volvo Penta engine is about 2/3 of the way in underneath the oil pan so it's hard to access. I have seen people take off the sump plug and replace it with a tap along with where they drain off the coolant. Seems a good idea but not sure if the vibration would shake the tap loose over time. They tend to have the inline filters as boats have big fuel tanks and they don't burn through fuel that often, mainly as owners are away. You can get diesel bug in the tanks which is a bacteria. You can get water in your fuel tank from the condensation forming on the inside of the fuel tank there fore the fuel becomes contaminated. The inline filters are often water separators/fuel filters. With my car I couldn't get the sum plug off I did try with a breaker bar but no look and since it's held together with duck tape and hope. I don't want to splash the cash as I'm trying to save up to buy a van and work has been very slow. So I used the big vacuum pump which worked great. I have the sailing experience as a common question and made a video called "Sailing 2500 miles How did I do it?" For DIY I my last video was polishing the fuel tanks. "How to Build a basic Fuel Polisher for Diesel Bug Removal" I started off dingy sailing when I was younger for about 3 years. Then stopped as the boat house had been taken down. Then I brought a boat mainly for a floating hotel room and storage while I'm learning and building up experience. I have crewed on other peoples boats and I like watching to see how others do things. You can do in classroom courses at marinas so you can meet people who likely have boats. You can also do sailing holidays. If your thinking about boat life, then I would recommend you going on one of the sailing courses either spring or autumn. This way you get a real experience rather than the peak summer cocktails and yacht parties. It's very hard work. Thank you for your time and hopefully you have liked and subscribed. If you would like to know anything else feel free to leave a message and I will try my best to get back to you.

@@serenitycoastUK thanks for the detailed reply. Yeah I am thinking about learning to sail and ultimately looking at a boat similar to yours for some living space and sailing fun.

@@wizurd77 Maybe think about doing a day skipper course they are 5 days so you get to learn the in's and outs of boating, perhaps do it on a holiday. If you where serious about getting a boat I would go either spring or late autumn when the weather is ok but not the best. This will give you a realistic expectation of weather and life on a boat. You will see all the boys hitting things with hammers, painting things and cleaning things. In the summer very different when the girls come out with the cocktails along with the bbq's and beers long sailing and smooth nice weather.

Good video mate 👌🏻 You could always use a bit of fine sandpaper wrapped around the oil filter to help tighten slightly more,
