Volvo S40 2008-2012 Waterfall Console Removal - By the Volvo Factory Method. This is different from the pre-2008 facelift models. Post facelift the small piece of moulding at the bottom of the park brake lever needs to be removed (this is a different piece to that found in the pre-facelift model), then the floor console needs to be unscrewed (2 concealed screws inside the bottom of the floor console cubby and two screws at the front behind the top of the Waterfall Console (see the video)), then unclipped at the very front, and then slid backwards to get to the bottom two screws of the Waterfall Console. Big apology for a couple of times saying that you slide the floor console "forward". I meant to say that you need to slide the floor console "backwards", towards the rear seats, to get to the two screws holding the centre console down.

Thank you! I was changing my shifter blind and was following a video and realized my 2011 C30 was different.. after wasting an hour I stumbled on your video and was able to continue that last clip behind the waterfall was a pain and ended up breaking it also that piece by the parking brake was tough but again you saved me a lot of time big thanks

You're welcome. Yes, that piece by the parking brake is the toughest part, IMO. Getting a tool narrow enough and thin enough to pry the notched tongue up without bending the plastic piece too far out of shape itself is the challenge.

very informative video and it has helped me a lot - I dont understand why Volvo could not have kept it simple when you could remove the cigarette holder section to get access to the rear fixing screws - so dam frustrating. I have to remove the waterfall from my 2007 V50 newer model and replace the climate control button pack - thank you for your video and regards from Ireland

You're welcome, Paul. I agree with your sentiments. I searched everywhere on youtube trying to find a tutorial on removing the waterfall console for the facelifted model, but never found one. Thankfully, I was able to look up on my VIDA program how to do it.. Glad this video was of help. Cheers from Australia.

Great video, thank you. I have to replace the manual stick shift mechanism once the console is out, I'm guessing it's fairly accessible from this point, or am i being too hopeful?

Glad the video helped. I don't know about the manual version, but you will possible need to remove the floor console as well, then that should give you full access to the manual gear shift assembly. For the automatic, its a few screws to remove the shifter assembly. When removing the floor console, just be careful with the floor console wiring, particularly wires to the aux/usb input jacks (if you have any) to inside the cubby under the centre armrest. They will need to be popped up and unplugged from underneath the cubby.

this is exactly what i want to do but i want to put the module on the central console somewhere but i want to get a USB power port from the rear cigarete lighter socket power :)

@Steve's Life - That's one way. I didn't mention it, but to get power to the module, I actually bought a fuse tap kit and USB power socket and connected them together. Tapped into a fuse (F45), then I placed the USB power socket behind the console under the dash out of site, then ran a USB power cable from this to the Bluetooth receiver module.

Is it possible to take a midter console from the faceliften v50 and put in a v50 from before the facelift? I like the co er of the cup holders

Hi you think a waterfall from a v50 2011 fits a s40 2004?

Physically, yes, the 2004 waterfall console should fit the 2011 v50. The difference is the floor console. 2004-2007 was a different design to the 2008-2012 S40/v50.

Just take care that the waterfall console CCM (Climate Control Module) button layout matches the one you are replacing, or else remove the CCM button panel from the old one and install it in the new console. I'm not sure if it works with a straight swap or whether you will need to have the CCM reprogrammed.
