PRECIOUS TIP : when you put back the panel, BEFORE closing the door, TEST the door handle and lock are both working properly. If you close the door and realize a handle doesn't work because the cable inside is stuck or not correctly attached, it will be too LATE - you won't be able to open the door to remove the panel. Ask me how I know. I brought a car to a shop who didn't attach the lock knob and put the panel back and closed the door. Oops
I did fix my 2005 S60 change door opening mechanism, it had as You said "nonreusable" door clips. I took them out by using nylon thread and didn't damage any. If You have brains they are reusable.😂 Hope this helps someone!
One of my rear doors clicks constantly when the car is in motion. I traced the noise to the top of the door card where it meets the inside window seal. I hope that when I take off the door card I find something loose that I can fix to stop the clicking.
Thank you so much. I have a 2007 XC70 and as you mention it appears to have the cheaper clips with no push-pin. I would appreciate if you could give guidance as to how to remove these clips that do not have a push-pin? Should I slide my trim pry tool under the head of the clip? Or should I slide my trim pry tool under the edge of the door panel? I appreciate your attention to detail, all the other instructions do not recognize that the 2004-and-up push-pins do not have the centre pin. Fellow Canuck here by the way, in Sudbury.
All years have clips with a center pin that must be pushed in. Your year has a thinner center pin - watch closely in the center to see it - and you need to push it all the way in until it falls inside the door, then the clip comes out and just pry the panel off the door frame. Watch at 6:30 You will probably not retrieve the center pins so get in advance replacement clips
@@Peppermint1 I just finished removing and reinstalling the front door panel n my 2007 XC70. In my case I did not lose the pins inside the door. The receptacle part of the clip is a closed sheath. So when I pushed the center pin all the way out of the clip, it was retained within the sheath. The entire assembly(sheath, clip, pin) then pulls out of the door panel, and you can pull the clip out of the sheath and retrieve the pin. I was able to reuse all my clips.
Hello, hopefully u respond because I accidentally broke the door lock thing when removing the door panel. So I’m jus wondering if u could give me a link to that part so I could buy a new one. Or just some example that fixes the problem
Hi! My driver's door pull handle on my 2004 XC70 needs to be replaced. Do I have to remove the entire door panel to attach the new door pull handle? The pull handle snapped off and left the part connected to the door panel in place, so the door pull handle is in 2 halves. I ordered a replacement pull handle but I'm worried about removing the door panel without breaking something. Is there an easy way to fix without removing the door panel? Thank you!!
Do you mean the exterior handle ? You need to remove the interior door panel then the plastic insulant to have access, and replacing the handle may not be easy. If you rather meant the inner door handle, this is how to fix it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jd7JNhUrD1g.html
People like to place a piece of metal shaped like a 'C' over the two plastic tabs that secure the handle cable. Some glued this piece of metal in place which should be a permanent fix - the downside is it won't be possible to remove the door panel again in the future if needed. On mine I just placed such metal piece tight, without glue. Here's a forum where this is discussed www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20732
rattle from inside door? if the original speaker has been removed, it may cause rattle, the window glass may also be a little loose inside. suggest asking here www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=26&sid=0fb2b71af28ff6e8dad6eff7f7956a18
Thanks Again MAESTRO... YOUR ACCENT,...RUSSIA?...BUT I NOTICED A CANUCK FLAG IN THE BACKGROUND OF ONE OF YOUR BUTTER KNIFE EXPEDITIONS... SPEAKING OF BUTTER KNIVES... YOU(WE) SHOULD ETCH VOLVO ON THE BLADES OF BUTTER KNIVES FROM: GOODWILL, THE STARVATION ARMY OR THE DOLLAR STORE AND SELL EM FOR 49.95$ EACH..... AS A VOLVO SPECIALTY TOOL?
Volvo would have no problem asking $50 for a butter knife for sure. Just the stamp would be $48. The accent is a mix of Romanian, Quebec French and Quebec English
With all the respect, you are wrong. The new models -04 and up has the doorclips that CAN be reused. it has small plastic pin in the middle you need to push with a small screwdriver or with a small punch. Then it can be removed and re assembled before installing the clip back. And the clip does release even if pin is not pushed completely in to the other side.
I have a 2007 xc70 and this really helped me so thank you. If the small pin doesnt come out with the clip i put a bit of honey on the end of a small screwdriver, put it in the hole to draw them out
