Reko Sri haha yes the best thing to come from that arrangement was the 5 pot that slotted in to the st focus of the era. Full if character but thirsty as hell.
@@bensmithkent22 Yes, That's right. That 5 cylinder is one of the all-time great Ford engines. The engineers went bananas on that one culminating in the Focus RS 500. One of the most powerful FWD cars ever. Still more powerful than today's Civic Type R
+President Kimi What exactly are you trying to prove here? Just because a tailgate is not automated demonstrates that the car is not fit for the comparison?
DilBashir Official If they bothered to make a "luxury model" and if they bothered to do something so the boot opens on its own , could they seriously not make it open completely? How hard could that be...
+President Kimi It's not much of a big deal through is it? Other ford models have automated tailgate too I don't know why they wouldn't apply the feature to this car and it does seem a tad silly however how much of a big deal is it? ... Not very big I'm telling you
It is not even a E-segment car like the other two. Some will say that the price are matching, but the Mondeo base price is a fully loaded car. The other two are base model prices, so probably if you want to have the same equipment the Volvo and Jaguar are much more expensive then the Ford. And what makes a car premium? Why is a Jaguar XE premium and a Ford Mondeo Vignale not?
Thibault Titeca i see you are a bmw fanboy, i am happy to see that you appreciate a volvo :) because i'm a volvo fanboy, but i love some bmw like 6 series or 7 series, also m4 !!!
Otto Sixpack to call a car premium, we don't watch only at engines!! is premium for technologies, for the fantastic quality interior, so luxurious, for safety (best in class) and for design ! yes, volvo should have a 6 or 8cyl engine, but this 2.0 are mot bad, especially the t6 with 320 hp and the t8 with 407 hp!
The engine is part of the package of what makes a premium car. And without nice engines the package is not complete. At least for me. Power is plenty in 4 cylinders these days but not quality in sound and vibration. A C-class with V6 feels more premium than a E-class 4 cylinder is what I have experienced.
I agree with you a hundred percent. The only thing i do not like about the V/S/XC90 models is that they only have four cylinder engines. The smooth way 6 or 8 cylinder engines deliver power makes cars feel so much more premium.
Jamoi I am slightly mixed about the back, I think they tried to copy the XC90 for the back and in that perspective I think that the XC90 looks better from the back than this does.
Royhan Its the wheels, they look like 16s. Probably company car spec I imagine - diesel and small wheels mean high MPG and low CO2. But rival company car spec cars can still look good while being equally frugal!
It's got the pauper body kit and a small girls trycircle wheels... Check out an xf r sport black pack... Smashes the shit out of the Germans offerings ...let alone the professors choice (I.e Volvo)
Now that I've seen a couple of S90s on the street I have to say it's got great presence. It feels long and low, the lines are elegant. A prettier car than the E class or 5 series, I think. Perhaps that's partly that it still looks new and fresh - yet with nothing in the body design that seems gimicky.
When you desire a jaguar, but realise the Volvo is much nicer all around. I drove an S60 through Sweden a month ago, the automatic transmission was a breeze to operate and everything felt so smooth and nice.
BOOMDEAD Games oh really? maybe a v50 or a c30. but i don't think that the new 90s, old s80, old xc90, s60, xc60, xc70, old 780, 960, 850, 760 are average salary car. it's always has been a premium brand, specialized in safety and resistance, now with new cars, also in luxury!
The Jaguar XF and XE handle better than any equivalent German car today. As a 4 series owner, the XF is far more agile than the 3/4/5 series. The steering is awesome and taut. The suspension is sporty yet comfortable-- something the Germans are struggling to do. These two are class leading in this area. Jaguar just need to improve the interior and reduce the NVH in the cabin, and it becomes a no brainer in these segments.
Agree the handling on my boggo xe grumbly 2.0 portfolio d is pretty near perfect for a big barge. Lags behind the germans for quality and refinement though. Considering swapping to a front wheel drive a4 tfsi cos of the horrific clattery diesel in the jag and substandard pull away smoothness.
Now got a b9 a4 but a 40tdi. Noise levels are planes apart. Audi is on big 19s too on 35 profile rubber. Xe handled better or certainly felt better in most bends, whether that translates into better grip levels i am not so sure as the audi stays flat just is no fun.
Would still buy the Mondeo because there’s more to me than the badge I drive. The Mondeo does everything more than well enough and doesn’t speak for me.
i just have to say how much i love those Swedish seats!!! they're so thin and have slender profile but don't compromise in comfort. they look sporty, and a bit futuristic, like one of those hardcore gamers chairs. it's just unlike anything in the competition. and just look at the flag motif along the edge. it's so striking. it definitely gets my vote of confidence! 👌
Stefan Ciganovic well I think your wrong! As of a recent test in 2017, bmw came out as the most unreliable, large, car manufacturer! Audi and Mercedes also came with a rather poor result.
6:02 that's what she said, jk but srsly Mat wtf lol? "Vinn Yuhle" I thought it was pronounced "Vig-Neyl" -_- also, how the hell did it reach this class? it's a ford after all and it's not even close to the XF or S90... XF is old, let's see what Volvo does when the XF gets updated, I'm sure it will roast the S90. S90 clearly was the winner before the video even started... Wish the comparison was more like a: Lexus GS vs Volvo S90 vs ???? Some Lincoln/Cadillac model, or just an XF
Chelsea the XF is not old its a new model my friend. Ground reality , JAG just dint anticipate merc & volvo to make cars look better than theirs. As to how ford reached this class , they had the nerve to price it close to JAG & VOLVO so yes in terms of pricing its reached this class , in terms of class theve reached nowhere near.
Prathik Iyer well when I'm comparing between classes I just look at the 3 cars excluding the price and check each one... that ford is just a total flop... like the real competition with class is something like (all 2018) LS500L vs S500 vs 750Li vs A8 50 TFSI or 2018 A7 vs 6 Series vs E Class Coupe or Nissan Patrol VVEL DIG vs Toyota Land Cruiser VXR 5.7 or Cadillac Escalade vs LX570 just, you know.... prices differ but competition is very tight... btw from what I know the current-gen XF was released some year between 2009-2012, it is old af... Probably getting a redesign for 2018... 2018 is a big cars year
I rented a volvo S90 D4 inscription friday to monday. Omg... ever since that I really only dream of having one myself. I arrived at a party that friday and lots of great mercs and bmw were parked there... but... the s90 stole the show. Some had brand new red sporty mercs... but they actually was saying "driving a merc is a show-off... driving a Volvo S90 is a statement. I felt like I was the smart guy with brains... omg! I so wanna buy a new Volvo S90
I am a Jag fan, but the Volvo is a nobrainer here. I mean, cmon, it destroys every car in it's class in every way. Price ✔ Looks ✔ Performance ✔ Build quality ✔ I mean it's a fucking dream came true
Who cares about the auto tailgate,, what’s so hard about operating a tailgate manually!? It’s really just to show off to Others watching on. and yes I’m aware that if your hands are full it makes your life easier. But everyone has an extra 5 seconds to sacrifice
true we all know that but Mat would probably get fired if he said and uploaded that, some bias has to be used cuz carwow is about new cars and here this channel is like a way for their marketing xD
ChelseaFC A lot of people would rather opt to buy a brand new mid ranged car rather than get a used flagship for the same price. Not everyone is fond on purchasing used cars it's more like a 50/50 decision.
you might as well wait a few years to get a mid range car for compact car prices. or a compact car for hatchback car prices. or a hatchback for city car prices. you see it doesn't make any sense you can't compare new to old
Super01113 yeah and I don't understand that... I mean instead of buying a new standard/half loaded new Audi A4 I could buy a pre-registered/pre-owned current model year half loaded Audi A6 (edit: with the same price of the new A4)... what could possibly go wrong about the car with just like 10kkms of mileage, and nobody would buy the car without inspecting it (unless the car belonged to a trusted friend)
ChelseaFC I get you but like I said it comes down to preferences. Some people just simply prefer to kit out a car to their exact specifications and genuinely prefer the design of the A4 over the A6 not to mention the running cost will likely be less and possibly get a better finance rate when purchasing the car(giving that it's new an all). I mean if it was really all about just getting a used A6 over a new A4 you would probably see a lot more people driving cars they couldn't properly maintain. Also you could get a current A8 for the same price with 20kms on it but it doesn't necessarily mean you can afford the living costs.
Alaska Fish & Game it’s because of the color and the tiny wheels which are awful, in R sport, with 18 or 19 inch wheels and any other color, it looks awesome
It would be interesting to see what the 3 cars on the road price would be once you have totted up all the options to spec them to the same level of the Ford. I drive an XF and know how expensive the upgraded infotainment is, along with parking assistance etc, all are standard on the Mondeo. Having sat in the new S90 inscription I would definitely take one over my XF but if I wasn't such a brand snob I would be foolish to over look the Ford. That Ford will be an excellent second hand buy in 3 years time and will be half the price of the other two cars. Yes my car is rear wheel drive but it hardly invites you to get the back end out and attack country lanes. The volvo is the best set up for the type of buyer these cars are aimed at as comfort and refinement are priority for the sort of person who will be considering these. Although I can guarantee that anyone looking to buy a large luxury saloon won't even consider the Mondeo. A shame as I have no doubt that its a well equipped and capable car, but foolish of Ford to price it so close to these two without the image. They should have done what Citroën have done with the DS and lose the Ford branding completely and at least made it look different from the Mondeo with a redesigned front end and rear. Its a nice enough shape to get away with just cosmetic changes to make it look a different car to the normal Mondeo without creating a whole new platform.
Last time I checked, people were comparing the Vignale to the A4, 3 Series and XE (allthough they don't belong to the same class). Stepping it up a class might be a bit hard for such a car. On the other hand, the Vignale comes with leather-wrapped seats (optional on the XF and the S90), sat-nav (also optional for the others), and even massage seats. Of course, if you're a badge snob, then go and buy an XF, but it'll have halogen headlights and 16 inch alloy wheels for the same price as the Vignale. The Ford is the most reliable out of the three (Volvo isn't what it used to be), and, despite featuring an inferior badge, it has the best balance between cost and features.
The Jaguar XF should have been the clear winner in this comparison. I have always liked Volvo, but that new S90 is a disgrace as far as I'm concerned. Looks the exact same in the front as the new XC90. Regardless of the good looks in the front, the rear is absolutely NOT distinctive and hideous at best. Many auto makers in the states have already copied that design. The best thing that could happen would be for Ford to take ownership of Volvo again and bring back engines that actually make sense instead of a ridiculously over engineered and complicated 2.0 L.
U r wrong dude. Even xf looks like all other jaguars except for the f pace. Volvo has best infotainment system here. Xf looks like its From the Stone Age.
I don’t think so, but you can subscribe to on call on a new car that supports it. Are you talking about the roadside assistance/ app control or the safety system (city safety)?
Shocking review its clear to see the Jaguar is way better on all fronts, you didn't explain the proper driving moods and stuff to busy sounding like Clarkson...
obviously the choise is s90, simply fantastic, i think that with the t8 double-engine (it should come out this year or at least, the t6 engine) r-design with polestar package, she would be amazing
yeah that ford looks like a cheap fake chinese version of a tesla (nope not a compliment, its a criticism) and yea lexus GS ive said that... infiniti is kinda old, and he cant use any german cars he mentioned its a non-german head2head
If the idea was to promote some other premium cars than German, then instead of Ford, there should be some Lexus car, then this comperison would be appropriate!
I'm sure the Mondeo is a good enough car but lacks charisma. If they had a more up market brand like Volvo & Jaguar, oh, wait a min, they did have those very brands. So, for main road & motorway life i'd probably choose the S90. However mix in my country road driving the XF is more tempting.
The Volvo is ugly as sin, the Ford is just an expensive Mondeo and the Jag... well it's easily the best looking and it's RWD= proper driving. Only a fool would choose either of the others...
Britain, Sweden and America you say? I say India, China and America. Or Britain, Sweden and Spain if you look at manufacturing. Sedans are pretty pointless, would definitely get the V90.
So the only downside of the Mondeo is 'it's a Mondeo'. That's what you get when you fail at branding, Ford. If you want to fight in a higher segment, you need something new, not reuse old familiar car with an expensive kit and higher price...
This guy is so annoying, when he does the individual reviews of the cars he says there all sexy and amazing, then suddenly they are all crap. And if I see him tap some plastic and say it feels cheap again I'll switch over. Its subjective.... exactly what is 'cheap' Cheap plastic is what you get in a cheap Daewoo, none of these cars are going to have interiors that are anywhere near 'cheap'
What a refreshing and honest review - and you can never go wrong with a bit of Carry On Carwow innuendo😀 I don't suppose Mat can ever win - he picks the Volvo but the screamers about British bias are silent. Never mind, we still get to be informed for the umpteenth time that Jaguar is owned by TATA...because it really matters... and obviously Mat has no idea of the fact.
The front of the volvo is soo lovely but the designers working on the back should be fired :/ The only think that looks NOT good on the volvo, the Jag looks out dated... and the ford...well, it's a ford :/
Volvo premium badge? Even the Jaguar in the shape of an XF isn't really premium! Nope they're all Euroboxes, thus one should be buying the best value for money I'd have thought..
I think the jag is a really boring design. The original xf and xj were great individual designs now the xe, xf, f pace are really blah designs and the interior trim quality is poor. My dad has both the xe and f pace and the interiors are a real disappointment
Next time you get a Volvo, may I suggest trying to get an R-design, as although it is only trim level, it is a totally different car, it's set up completely different than to say the momentum. This is also true for the olds models, r-design vs se lux for example.
30 000 my ass lol, here they all cost over 50 000 pounds lol. Volvo all the way tho... looks amazing. Love the front of the mondeo to tho, its just the rear end... My god change it up.. its been the same of 10 years now.
