Great description. Very similar to my 98 C70, the fuel rail was just a bit in the way. I could maneuver around that easily though. Thanks for the videos

I would recommend sticking with the OE 90 degree for factory settings however the lower the temperature the sooner the thermostat will open. If your dealing with higher temps this may be an alternative

Hi FCP! I'm about to do this job on a 2000 S70 GLT SE, which should be very similar to the 850 turbo in this video. My question is this: You sell a Thermostat Housing Gasket for my car, but in the video you dont mention changing that. Should it be changed anytime the housing is removed like this? Thanks for the great videos, they've been a big help!

I have a 2003 s40 T4 (HPT) and im about to replace my t'stat, currently using a calorstat 87º. I purchased a stant supestat 82º for a bargain, but at that moment i thought cooler temp was like an upgrade for a HPT turbo engine, i havnt installed it yet, i wanna hear some comments or advice first

I am having a little trouble with my Vovlo 850 2.5I-20V GLT (1994) At some point I noticed a big puddle under my right front tire (passenger side). I checked it out and found out it was the coolant. I filled it up with new coolant and started the engine. Everything seemed to be fine. I watched the engine run for 10 min. I noticed that the level of the coolant actually increased which surprised me. I then took it for a short drive around the block. When i stopped the car and took a look at the level of the coolant, the coolant at that point was spitting out of a crack on the coolant reservoir cap. The engine seems to run perfectly fine. Do you think this has to do with a defect thermostat? What is your opinion on this? Kind regards, Rick

I tried to do this and ended up striping the top of the screw. It was giving a bit before it gave out but it's pretty tight. I was turning it left. Ended up stopping the job because I didn't want to risk ruining the other screw. Any recommendations on how to get it out? Would a power tool be more effective?

@ I got the screw off and finished the job. Lucky didn't have to take my handsaw to it. Also bought replacements from FCP to prevent anything going downhill in the future.

Hi FCP, I am about to do this job on my 2000 Volvo S80 T9,however in this video it was mentioned that the orientation doesn't matter when installing the new thermostat is that correct? I have seen a few more videos that mentioned the opposite. Pls if you could let me know which is correct. Does orientation/position matters or not.

Hello Omar, there's no specific left to right side orientation when installing the thermostat.

May I ask why you have to drain some coolant?
@fcpeuro

This is done to prevent coolant from spilling out.
