But, how about the diesel exhaustion? It's full of soot which is devastating for the environment!

@@Beun007 the soot collects in a dpf, or diesel particulate filter and never gets blown out the smoke stacks. when the filter fills up, a regen mode uses def , diesel exhaust fluid (a mix of water and uria) to burn the filter clean at very high temperatures. it can be done a number of times before a replacement filter is needed. the emissions of my vnl 860 are in fact cleaner than the air in the san francisco bay area. unfortunately DEF systems break down a lot and rob engines of power which in turn raises the use of fuel. only california currently requires trucks to have DEF systems since they are so concerned about their air (yet sidewalks are covered in human fecies). in 2020 all dpf mandates will be null and void (soot is only carbon, it's ash and in the end safer for the environment than using much more fuel to feed a pricy DPF system that breaks down and robs the economy annually by the billions).

+James Stewart (James' Fish Tank Videos) James we used to run lots in CA where there is plenty of smog! Our joke was they should PAY us for cleaning up their air! Our stack is as clean as the day it left the factory! Pretty amazing!

Its not totally impossible, a Rottne h21 (forest harvester) has a special particle filter wich makes the gas that comes out of the exhaust to be 97% steam. Thats pretty darn clean.
