Volvo V40 Cross Country 2014-2017 review - Carbuyer 

That's a really nice car! I would buy this one for my wife! If I had enough money and if I had a wife!

I've owned a Cross Country D4 with 8 speed transmission for 6 months - I'd say its one of the best cars available. Superbly built, 700km/tank city driving ! 400nm torque, seamless transmission, as comfortable a car as you could imagine on long journeys. beautiful rear seats for two ! sticky tyres, quiet, settled over bumps and in general feels taught, easy to reach all controls, awesome digital interface, doors are deeply cut so you can stick your elbows right in...and the list goes on and on....and its definitely worth extra over the standard V40 - all that extra body work and touches on the inside give it that thing that makes it such a dream - personality.

This is the only British car reviewer I like because they never bash American cars or any car that is not from Europe. They give a honest reviews and are very in-depth. Great reviews CarBuyer!

Matt really is the best presenter of car stuff on our screens. Puts it all across so well and yet really knows what he's talking about. Makes the TG crew seems like a right bunch of... oh, hang on, they seem like that anyway. Keep up the good work Matt.

I have the T5 and I get 8.5l per 100km at 120km/h. Not bad at all.

I actually like it alot that they show the actual real world fuel consumption and not the claimed figure. Really puts it in perspective for me.

My new Volvo v40 cross country in passion red is being delivered at the end of September looking forward to it but will feel a little sad about giving up my Nissan Juke Tekna 🤔

The new mpg measure in the reviews is quite a good feature because car manufacturers tend to overestimate fuel economy of their cars...

In "the left side of the Atlantic" and probably in UK as well, since it's going to be built there in one of Nissan's factory lines there, the Infiniti Q30, based on Merc's GLA platform and engines (only the petrol/gas T-2.0L in NoAm and most likely Merc's ubiquitous 2.1L TDi I4 in Europe) will have that same kind of "hatchback, not quite crossover" that real crossovers, like the Mazda CX-5 don't suffer from (still not a real SUV, but works for its purpose). All those deficiencies put out on the video maybe the reason Volvo doesn't sell this hatchback (really a replacement of the C30, also based on Ford's C1 platform, something not mentioned on the video) in NoAm. Nor the fact that at least 3 engines, petrol/gas EcoBoost 1.6 and 2.0L and the one the host was driving, a 2.0L DuraTorq TDi, are also Ford-supplied. On getting rid of the "Blue Oval Smell" (like also Mazda is doing) next time around (it is in new reports already as I type) Volvo will use its' own new platform (also spawning a next generation S40) and forms of their new Drive-E petrol/gas T-2.0L I4 (if not axed by then their T-2.5L I5 may still be used somehow) and non-Ford sourced TDi's. Also the V40 will be wagon/estate-based, rather than a hatchback, opening the door for a true XC40 (remembering that XC is shorthand for Cross Country...).

"Volvo options are expensive"? What the devil is wrong with you Matt? Volvos option is way more cheaper than the germans. And btw, you don't need 4x4 just becuse the cc is higher than regular V40.

It is really strange to see steering wheel on the right side and driving on the left side of the road. It totally looks like upside down...

The suspension is the same as a normal one , it basically is on 40mm blocks . No more travel thsn standard

Can't say I'm impressed at all by the casual ageism. Review is okay though.

To bad we get the T4 with AWD in Sweden, i think they gonna put AWD in with the diesels and the old 5-cylinder petrol gonna be replaced with the new 2.0 5 cylinder enginen, same power, same speed (or even faster because its connected to the new 8 speed automatic and not the old 6-speed) and less fuel.

Not for nothing? But AMC pioneered the "soft-roader" formula over 30 years ago with the Eagle. And to be honest, those were legit offroaders!
