This year at Carlisle there was a P3 XC70 that was XC90/S80 V8 swapped. I follow a guy on IG that's currently doing it to a P2 XC70. I thought about doing it years ago on my P2 XC70 but decided to R swap it since I got the engine for free from a buddy.
Congratulations on the tidy installation, looks factory. Great when most of the job can be done with OEM parts and a little research. (OK a lot of research). I have a P3 XC70, absolutely love it, so useful and comfortable but with an interesting amount of strange.
I just picked up a Yamaha 4.4 out of a wrecked XC90, I so badly want to put it in my 1996 Volvo 960, which is Volvos last rear wheel drive car, I want to have a V8 in my 960 and keep it all Volvo minus the transmission. I’d love to run that V8 in my 960 paired to a manual transmission but in terms of programming or getting the ecu to run the motor without issue I don’t know what I’m doing
I love what Ken is saying here.. basically Volvo COULD have put the v8 in many… many… P3s, and for us manufacturing operations nerds out there.. this revelation just makes sense. What Paul & Chris point out with the small nuances of how Volvo made engineering decisions fitting(s) for everything around the ease of swapping the physical space of the V8 is so true.. you have to wonder how and why the assembly line(s) at the factory interacted with each specific model…
I love this content great job installing this V8, but can I just say one thing? Could you clean your camera lens? Because there is a sort of bloom effect on the video😊
