Totally agree. This is the best review I have seen. Very well rounded. Alot of good considerations like the one with the sensor in the seats that turn off the systems while people still are in the rear seats. Did a test drive today - really nice car.
Comment about money is always a consideration; for my money it is the best so I bought it here in the US. I have had it for 2 weeks and I am loving it. Thanks for your review. I am going to watch your audio review now. Great job.
Strange that I've never watched vids from this channel before. Pleasantly surprised by that. Great and unpretentious review. Keep up the good work my guy.
Today was test drive day for the VW ID4 GTX. Very nice car but after dropping off this car I decided to back to the Volvo garage and test drive the Volvo XC40 P8 AWD for the second time. Bit the bullet (this car is not cheap in Switzerland!) and signed the purchase agreement on the dotted line. Glad to have just watched your excellent video concerning this car and can’t wait to pick it up and start driving this fantastic beauty!!
Great review - about to order one!! Drove it on the weekend and very impressed. Six month or so wait for delivery expected here in Australia where it has just been released..
Ordered one of these XC40 Recharge P8 in December/2021 (arriving in March/2022). Here in Brazil they are only sold in the “Ultimate” (the top of the line trim level in USA), for R$ R$ 389.950 (US$ 70.000). Excelente channel, keep up the good work 🤜🤛
Great review ! When it comes to the height, for me it is perfect. I am 1,80m tall and at least for me, it is one of the most comfortable cars I have driven from a driving position and comfort point of view. Really love it. One big minus I have noticed so far about the car would be that in the back there is no light and that is just weird for that price range category.
Very good review.... got the 2023 twin plus here -and you are absolutely right about the driving skills of this one. The minuses are small, but hope also they will be phased out on next mode. (Rear camera, left driveshaft and no lights in the back seat)
Glad you liked the review! They're pretty much on par, but the C40 is a slight bit better in that department. Would suggest checking out our C40 review that compares the two in detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qvhCOJd9lJE.html
@@sandersson2813 personal choice I suppose. The Volvo fits better into my country living lifestyle with three dogs. Also local dealer etc I love mine but I’m sure the polestar will be as good.
Thank you! It's a good question, and one we've asked Mercedes about (ie. wanting to get a press loan of the EQA & EQC) - it'll come hopefully soon, but can't give you an opinion without proper testing :)
Great review, very thorough. I saw in one of Volvo's promo videos that you can set temperature from Google Assistant. If that is true it justifies (partially) not having the physical dials. Yet I haven't seen this been tried in any of the reviews in terms of accuracy/responsiveness. Anyone has any feedback on this?
Thanks, glad you liked it. Indeed you can, it's pretty good but not as fast as doing it manually. Have a look at our Polestar 2 review for a short demo of it (around the 8-min mark): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aCsf3GC4eZw.html
As a 6'3 I sat very comfortably in the driver's seat on test drive yesterday. Really good visibility out side and plenty of headroom. Loved the car so i went ahead and ordered the new C40. Yeas not the XC40 but the upcoming C40. Dont know how I can wait till January it to arrive...
@@TotallyEV I'll get back to you when it comes. The reasons for the C40 were the more efficient shape of the car which i prefer to be better looking also than XC40. The biggest factor for me are the new headlights which are the same matrix led you get with Polestar 2. My salesperson at dealership told me that C40 will be 10% more efficent than XC40. So range should get a pretty good jump.
Thanks for sharing! Indeed the C40 should theoretically have slightly bettered range, but don't anticipate it to be drastically different from what was mentioned in this review!
@@TotallyEV Yeah I'm nit getting my hopes up with the range and getting C40 mid winter doesnt allow a good comparison to start with. But even a bit better is always a good thing!
Nice review. I’m a similar height and have a very long torso, so I tend to struggle with head room. Would you say you have an average torso length for your height or longer?
The XC40 full electric is right now My first choice........But I will wait til Volvo installs a modern dash.......Everyone else has gone to large dash mounted flat screens..........In this area Volvo is lacking.............Paul
Every single Vehicle on the market is too stiff for My taste.......It seems They all want Indy 500 performance......Forget ALL about comfort..............Paul
Too bad they went for performance and not for comfort. You are right: who wants to chuck an SUV into corners? I would have rather had more comfort: thus a more soft suspension (air suspension pref) and more range instead of bulletting in 4 seconds to 100 kmh.
Volvo is bringin out a single motor version that would offer more range for those doing plenty of long distance travelling. With so many rear wheel drive versions launched this year, I think it to be a great approach from Volvo to do the AWD version first. Speaking to Volkswagen a few months ago, they also stated that the ID.4 is pulling lots of interest, but customers wanting AWD decided to wait or look elsewhere.
@@TotallyEV ALL tractor/trailer trucks have air suspension....Even their trailers and have had for 25 years.......What the hell is the slowdown for Our cars...........Paul
@@TotallyEV It's slightly more upmarket than a mid market car, but I'd reserve the term luxury for SUVs like Range Rovers, Q8, Bentayga etc. The term luxury is used a bit too frequently these days, even average cars like a 3 series is described as luxury.
@@TotallyEV indeed. I just feel superlatives are thrown about a bit too easily these days such as "luxury", "genius", "legend", "hero" etc. There's no doubt that Volvo can be considered more of a premium brand these days than under Ford ownership, but in terms of luxury I'd say you could only really call the XC90 something they make which is closer to this bracket. The XC40 is a very nice car, more premium than average but it cuts corners in a number of areas, and so I think luxury would be a bit of an exaggeration and I say that as someone with a Volvo.
Volvo has good long term reliability, besides, whoever buys a car outright anyway? It's a false economy unless you have all the money spare and don't require a loan.
