Great video - I did my lights over the weekend. Gives the cabin a more upscale look in the dark, for sure! Note: for my 2010 V70 3.2L the wire colours were different but the pin locations were the same (first and last).
Note: make sure you test the quick-connect clamps before putting door panels back on (wiggle the wires a few times while watching the LED). I had some trouble with mine and resorted to soldering the wires together instead.
I have a power window switch for the drivers door, which sometimes, when I press it to go up….the window gets half way, and goes down…I suspect the switch is the issue, because when I use the “manual “ feature it works fine, but, when I use the “auto” feature it does that….sorry for long story…lol…I want to swap switches…I hardly ever use the drivers side passenger rear window, so, I wanted to swap with drivers side switch…but…I needed to know how to pull door panel, off! Wow. Long story for a debt of gratitude for showing me the way to remove panel! Thank you again for these great videos!
Man, people like you deserve to go to heaven. So composed and thorough. I love my cjar but if you plan to buy a new vehicle, just tell us which, so i will buy the same one and watch all the videos you will make about it.
Thank you for the nice videos on the XC70s. They are very informative and well done. You are meticulous in your work! I like working like that also. I just got a XC70 2010 last month and I enjoyed your videos. I installed the door Handel LEDS today, I was quiet shocked and unhappy about the price of the parts, alsmot 200$... I did it my way and it work great. I got 4 12v dimmable 3mm LEDs and 4 connector from my local electronic store and it does the job perfectly! It cost me under 8$ and you can't tell the difference. I followed your instruction on my iPad for the connection and saved me time! Thanks again! I'm looking forward to see one of your video about transmission flush maybe!
Thanks for this, saved me a load of time sorting out the door cards and which wires I should connect to. Just a couple if changes I made, firstly, I wasn't going to pay the thirty odd quid that the thieves at Volvo want for each of those LED plug in units, so I bought a pack of 10 pre wired 12volt LEDs for about 2 quid, and some two pin mini connectors so I could connect to the loom but still unplug it when removing the door card, I then used a hot melt glue gun to fit the LEDs into the housing on the back if the door card. The second change was to solder the wires into the loom as I simply cannot use those proxy scotchlok connectors, they're ugly, unreliable and bulky, as an auto electrician I just can't bring myself to use them. Thus works really well and it's such a shame Volvo were so tight fisted as to not fit them into European cars, yet they got them in the USA.
just looked up cost of doing this today using parts from my local dealer, and its like $300+ US the LEDs are like $45 each locally. i man talk about jacked up pricing! for some LEDs, Plastics and some wire ends, thats waaay over priced.
Hello! Thank you very much for your instruction. After opening of the left back door on my XC70 2008 when it is frost, the door indicator shows open after closing and it is impossible to lock the car. Do you know how to find the sensor in the back door and fix this and find the contact
Can you advise how to get to the lock in the front door? I need to replace it and got stuck trying to take off the aluminium door cover that is under the door panel. Looks like this aluminium cover is attached to the window mechanism and I don't want to break anything. Please advise
I've mine in and the add a lovely touch of class. However there's a rattle in the two fronts. It stops when I put pressure on the door handle so the bulbs are either loose or need some trim tape! :(
hi, need your help. the front passenger seat(Electric) stop working. at first it stopped moving back and forward. after folding the seat (the seat haz 2 clamps at the back) everything stopped working, I can't move the seat in any direction. do you know what could be the problem? and do you know how to adjust the seat manually? thaks
I got from local dealer estimated price ~ 120 Eur - they are selling just led for 26 EUR / peace => CRAZEEEEEEEE for led. then I went to electronic store and got almost the same just for 12 Eur for all set - 3x4 :)
Nice but never use any isolation tape as on hot summer time tape will slide. Use proper heat stringent isolation tube and never issue. :) Thanks for nice work explained.
Great video. Have you added the pocket lights to the front doors? Looking at doing this but not sure on what parts are needed. Might make my own loom up.
Приветствую, Юрий! Нашёл таки Ваше видео. Как и всегда, Вам респект!!! Тема заинтересовала. Хочу внедрить у себя, правда с английским не силён. Где компоненты можно приобрести?
could you please tell me where do you find the part numbers I live in germany I tried the official volvo site but I couldn't find part numbers or parts for sale anywhere and I want original volvo parts thank you
Interesting that they'd have the lenses but not the wiring for the lights. I'd have connected the lights so that they only come on when the interior lights come on but that's me.
Hello, I hope you can help please? Can the arm rests be removed from the door cards please? If so, do you need to remove the door card first? Thank you.
Does anyone know the value of the resistor and the type of diode? My local Volvo dealer wants 55 EUR just for the LED, absolutely ridiculous. These components cost exactly 1 EUR, jesus.
Are you still working lights on rear doors? I did exactly the same as yours, but the back door lights do not work anymore. I dont no what is wrong, have not been able to check.
Daniel Cauchon that's what I concerned as well, and most of them are useless at all... if I was him, I won't spend any money on this level of vehicle...but anyway, all his videos are great!
I don't think Yuri is sponsored, he just takes great pleasure and pride in ownership of a premium car, big Volvo lover and hobbyist and we all know hobbies can cost a lot. The mods I've seen are mostly excellent and keep the car refreshed and upgraded. BTW George I'm not sure what you mean by 'this level of vehicle'? You might do it say for a Lexus. Everybody has their favoured brand. I drove a Brand New Mazda sedan, top of the range for several months. I then bought a mint 2013 Volvo V60 for half the price in January 2016. There was no comparison, the Volvo was comfort, luxury, safety and handles much better. A Lexus to me is only a fancy Toyota but if you like yours, you see it as 'special' new or used, by all means do enjoy it as a hobby is healthy, not a waste of money either when you've something especially to show for it. Each and everyone to their own. Kind Regards!
