Still listening to this very often, love this very rare colab en the way Volvox and Umfang made it work! Fan of both and never stop listening to this great colab
Really inspiring collaborative set. To all you worried heads out there, this set is a shining example of what "a collaboration between artists" looks like. Secondarily, its a supremely powerful example of collective empowerment in a highly competitive, time-consuming, and socially mediated performance arena, which is both fast-paced, commercial, and/or otherwise namesake driven. Keep slaying, ya'll! xoxo
Instant Boiler Room CLASSIC set! Great track selection and mixing of machine-funk electro! And I love that guy’s energy and enthusiasm! He was dancing hard and feeling the music the entire time!
One thing I like about the "performance" of this set is the absence of "hot-knobbing". That is, DJs pointlessly fiddling with knobs to seem busy. It's very refreshing to see artists concentrating on the music and the art of vinyl mixing.
I think it's a habit that some DJs get into and I can see it being difficult to get out of once it's ingrained. Not sure it's necessarily (always) a deliberate attempt to "appear busy".
I’m with you... D.K. makes a good point that it seems just a hard habit to break even more than DJs trying to look busy.. either way I find it annoying as well.

Haha funny that you mention DJ Stingray. I distinctly remember meeting the guy who is dancing behind you guys for most of the video for Dj stingray's gig
This may sound like I am being patronizing, But I am not meaning it like that. I have been watching a lot of Volvox videos as she is so much fun to watch, and have been listening to Umfang debut album and loving it. But what exactly do DJS do, are they only playing other peoples records and mixing the eq's and lining up the next track to sync up nicely, or are they mixing multiple songs together at once and mixing in samples etc to create something unique? I am only asking out of curiosity because I've never known exactly what they are doing with all those dials and buttons etc. On a side note do these guys make there own original music also or is the focus on mixing other peoples music.
DJs in this case are as you said laying other peoples records and mixing the eq's and lining up the next track to sync up nicely, but they are not using "samples". That sounded quite simple, but in this instance they are also mixing with vinyl, which involves manual beat matching (so they are matching the speed - bpm- of each songs just by ear) and that is harder than you think. On top of that, there are many other factors like cue timing, song selection, reading the crowd and etc. Considering those points, these two make a damn fine pair of DJs!
Could someone tell me what kind of genre they are playing, I always have a hard time to label this style of electronic music. It's fast and breakbeats, yet has house elements (if I am not mistaken) and also features some synths, especially the part around 1:10:00 is soooo energetic I would love to find similar tracks/sets
Most of the time these sets are so hard to enjoy because it's very tight in the front. A lot of kids trying to get on camera i guess. When the set with Young Marco started i was at the front. After 5 minutes i was in the back in the grass where you can actually dance haha.
