If you think he’s doing too much on the 2nd mix, that’s the point. He’s bombarding you with techniques to show you what’s possible, not to tell you what you should build up to doing.
There is no wrong or right way to mix...saying pro and beginner isnt right....nowadays if you ain't smashing buttons you can't dj...hmm! Never seen Sasha mix like this and he's the master of his art!
@indegruv Djs were always ugly back in the dayz...bar Dj Rap, but even she proved her worth.... Nowadays it's about looking good behind the decks and the music comes second... Everyone seems to be copying the James Hype style and if you ain't you're a nobody.... Richie Hawtin one one of the firsts with doing more than just mixing when using digital....but according to this video, even he isn't pro nowadays....I get and understand the newstyle style and new gen of mixing but to reiterate there is no wrong or right way of mixing...and it also depends on what style youre mixing....
@@damasterkarej 100% with you there. hopefully all went well but i can tell you come over prepared and do your research on what kind of music demographic you’re playing to. I don’t do weddings birthdays and all that, those guys will tell you to take a request list, what i do is I will ask the party organizers what are 2 or 3 top genres from past parties and go from there. i’m mostly in the club rotation now and i take that even more seriously, i will usually go for several nights ahead of my set and listen to what those djs play to get a feel for things if i don’t know the crowd or it’s my first time at that venue. set selection is the #1 most important thing as a dj and it’s something good djs work really hard at. good luck to you and your future gigs and hope the first one went well.
@@Aliazra.That's today I'm rooting for you, let me know how it goes that my dream as well but I'll start at lounge first. Go Aliazra, go Aliazra really let me how you did after tonight you got this.
It also depends on what kind of music you are mixing. All techniques don't work with every genre of music. I work in the techno genres (hard, psy-trance, etc). I find that too much in this, breaks the mix. But, hey, it works great with house type genres. Love your channel, Carlo.
@djcarlo you are amazing I have been following you for a while I comment under my other page that's where I originally subscribed. I came on RU-vid just now saw your short decided to comment under this post. I wish you were my instructor I need this so bad when I DJ it takes me to a feel good place that no one can it's an amazing feeling. I used to use turn tables many moons ago but my controller last year been practicing since
Hello Carlo! Im watching your videos for like 1 year and i really like your videos, mix and tips. Im also DJ and that helps me much. Goodluck to the future. 😁❤
It's more of a stylistic choice really, but I prefer cutting the lows so the bass frequencies don't clash. It's much more obvious when you're in clubs, and you hear the kick drum getting louder haha
@@djcarlo i want to see if all your techniques transfer over to latin genre. Most of the time latin dj's let the whole song play or they blend in the new song with minor effect or filter from what i seen.
I’m hoping to get my first DJ controller for Christmas, and I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and I am super exited to start It looks like so much fun
@@djcarlo I’m planning on getting either a ddj flx4 or ddj flx6 but I’m not quite sure. I am aware of the price difference, and I’m wondering if the ddj flx6 is worth it or not
In my opinion the difference between beginner and pro dj has nothing to do with technical skills (which btw you can acquire in less than a few days). Everything is in first, the selection and then : feeling, crowd reading and adaptability. And that takes years to master 😉.
The best DJ I ever saw left the buttons alone and was the best because he perfectly matched every beat on technic 1200s. and his song selection was second to none .
The crazy part on my practice time, I do great but when Inset up my camera and ready for the same playlist I put together I dropped the ball. Either I forget to press record on my controller 🤦🏾♀️ or my camera stopped when I finally get both guest what I screw up. I'm not giving up I love this dying it takes me to a place that no one can lol that's my high. Where can I get more of the EDM music that I also feel a lot I have a few but as much for a 3-4 hour party.
@@djcarlo I have been DJing for the past 9 years and never had my own decks. Been doing tricks like this on VDJ 😅 I'm hoping to buy my first decks this upcoming black friday
Hey, I am practicing on CDJ3000s on tribexr (I have an oculus) and I was wondering if there is a way to do slicing like this on the CDJs as well. Ive read somewhere that it might not be possible? So far Ive tried it with hotcues, but that fills them up pretty quickly! Oh and just play button with slip mode on for the vynil spindown
It should be easier to do on a pair of CDJs, though I'm not sure how they'll carry over into TribeXR. It might be possible, but with some difficulty as you'll need to see your laptop to nail all the FX
I don’t understand what you did with the second mix at all. The track you bring in looks like it’s not playing, but somehow turning the cfx knob and moving the fader did something… and the echo effect too but I know it could be set to the left track. Probably just missing something but very confused.
I was at a new years house party with open Decks and played hardtecjno from my SoundCloud for 2 Hours. Never touched a Controller before and the ppl liked it :)
Waiting on my hp envy pc to arrive. Torned between the ev etx 18sp and the qsc sub for the house and potential gigs in the future. Right now this is a hobby for me. I think the EV elx200 18sp may be too weak. I know the qsc brings the heat but haven't heard an etx model in person yet. Money I'm not spending on American women. Speakers will still be providing joy 20 years from now and cause me zero stress.
@@djcarlo thanks. I received the qsc ks118 on Tuesday night. Couldn't get anyone to go pick it up so i called an uber xl and put it in the back of a toyota highlander for 25 bucks. Who needs friends? So far I'm happy but it feels like the qsc subwoofer isn't even being pushed by the flx4 signal. Is this where a mixer helps unlock power to get more out of your speakers? The hp envy laptop is amazing and has been running flawlessly for 2 weeks now. My tops are ev zlx 12bt speakers. Sound system sounds great. Why did i choose the qsc sub or the ev one? Because the EV one limits early. Sound was very similar but at the store the default qsc at unity was as loud as the EV at first limit. So in the name of space and headroom to push i got the QSC. Just that at home i can't seek to get the QSC to limit even with the gain maxed out. Is this something a mixer helps with? To get more out of your hardware?
Just bought flx4... do you have a course thats not super expensive but detailed enough to help start performing in 2-3 months of daily practice... Im pretty much starting from zero
You can "stop" the track at a cue point by hitting the stop button and pressing the cue point. Check out my Best DJ Settings video for the settings to do that 😄
I think a better comparison would have been phrasing and key matching. Mixing on phrases and reading the crowd are what signifies a pro DJ for me. Cool video tho FX are always fun especially when im sauced lmao
