Nice documentary and great insight for scholars in anthropology. On the contrary, most artefacts were looted in Africa during colonialism. Unfortunately most parts of Africa aren't benefiting from such a display rather than the owners of the museums and the government. But thanks Towera for the wonderful write-up and documentary. Looking forward to your next video.

@@howardkafumbata3431 and thank you for watching 😊, it’s very true that a lot was stolen from Africa and still is as we speak, and a lot of museums in Europe benefit from the artefacts and Asia two in terms of other things like resources. This museum however, is privately owned and most of the items have been collected by 2 people after travelling around west Africa. One thing I’ve noticed, I will speak on Malawi, is that we tend to look down on some cultural practices and foreigners take interest in them more than Malawians do. They end up profiting on this when they take these pieces back to their countries. We still have a lot of culture in Malawi but the people that can help to organise such things like museums etc, tend to look down on these cultures because of Religion etc

Very informativ video. I live only a few hours away and want definetely to visit this museum. I read many books about vodoo and all kinds of spiritual and animistic ways of living and beliefs, and this kind of 'magical, transzendentical' thinking ist part of me and my life over 30 years now. I think, we shouldn't be too harsh to people, that think or talk about vodoo as 'satanic or pagan' - of course, they are not right, but I'll prefer blaming the lack of education. I am german and besides of a few hours talking about the 'big 5 religions', vodoo and other spiritistic, animistic religions weren't even mentioned. What makes me sad is the fact that these old ways to get in contact, to communicate and to live with the other worlds around us (for example the world of the dead, or the one of the spirits and so on), that these things are in danger to get lost in times of TikTok and this kind of crap.... Thanks again and keep on the good work (I also hope, that my english was okay)

It's an interesting museum for sure. As a religious person, this all looks pagan & satanic to me, but it's still interesting to learn about.

Are we saying this because it’s an African religion? Pagan & Satanic is what the colonisers called it. Is it that different from other beliefs how they all also believe in spirits just different kinds? Are we perceiving it this way because it’s not what we are used to around us or is it the social conditioning of western society? If you’re religious should you not be respectful of other people’s beliefs? why is your religion better?
