Voron 2.4 Step By Step Part 9 Low Voltage Wiring I
This is the ninth of several videos where I will build a Voron 2.4 350 and show step by step. This step adds the low voltage components and does their physical configuration and wiring.
The build parts are from the sourcing guide recommended vendors.
I just started using DaVinci Resolve so I'm a noob at it. Let me know what I'm doing right and wrong please. I want to get better at this.
My mailing address if you want to send me something cool:

6:12 thanks Scott. This video actually gave me the confidence to turn my machine on! It worked. Obviously I’ve watched these videos dozens of times to make sure I am being safe and checking things over and over. Great content!

Started a Voron 2.4 350mm² build last night and these have to be the best filmed, clearest and best videos I have found to help out on my build. You cover the build well and don't waste lots of time with long-winded explanations, you're clear in your text and you offer good safety tips along the way. I appreciate the information and look forward to the next build video.

Scott, you have created some of the best content about building the Voron that I have ever seen. (Which is quite a lot.) Thank you for all of the time and work you have put in towards making these videos.

No problem and thank you. I'm sitting here right now trying get the last of the wiring done. It still have a bit more to go. I understand now why most say I wired off camera. lol

Grounds to Wago is the clean way to do it. Definitely shouldn't have stacked your grounds like that. Not at all.

As always excellent and informative. With the Formbot kit (2.4.R2) the instructions and the electrical cables supplied required me to have only 1 +ve and one -ve coming from the 24v power supplier and then daisy chain at the controller board. Your instructions on testing before turning on were extremely helpful for piece of mind so thanks for taking the time to show. I also found purchasing cable races similar to those used in the LDO kit provided significant flexibility in creating clean cable runs.
@scottcorn

Thank you. The kits have really advanced in the last year. Not having to run all those wires in the cable chain is great. I'm going to start a V0.2 that is like this new way as soon as they release it.

Uh oh. Now I've messed up. I'm caught up on my build, and since I followed your guide so far, I'll have to switch to the far more difficult manual to proceed.

Sorry, I know I sound like a broken record, but it takes me a long while to create the videos. It takes me tens of hours to get what would take a few hours without creating a video. I also do a lot of research before starting so I'm not just doing my opinion on something.

I watched your video just before the Super Bowl. Great work. You got the AC grounding done primo this time😉. Guess it’s time to do my wiring now. I think your connections to the RPI for power are pretty weak. If you bump that 5v power it will fall off. I will cut up a USB cable and plug it into the power input and connect the other end to the supply with ferrules or something suitable.. it won’t be sticking up in the air.
@scottcorn
@scottcorn 2 года назад
Yes, it is something I'm considering also. I'm not a fan of the Dupont connectors I used.
@scottcorn
@scottcorn 2 года назад
I ordered some micro USB connectors to solder heavier wires to. All my old micro USB cables I cut open had such thin wires.
@lcdconsultant5252
@lcdconsultant5252 2 года назад
@@scottcorn To use an existing USB cable it has to be a charging cable for 2.1Amps otherwise you get some 32gauge wire for talking to your computer that drops 1 volt. As you mentioned in your videos, voltage is critical on a RPI. I use to work at mophie a phone power bank company. You would be amazed at what junk is out there. We would get complaints the power bank would not charge and it would be a cable problem.
@scottcorn
@scottcorn 2 года назад
@@lcdconsultant5252 I'm going to use the 20 AWG just like the GPIO but just solder it on to the connectors I have coming in. It's a good excuse to use my good soldering iron also. lol I have a couple of cables that I think would probably be good, but I don't want to sacrifice them. It really is a crap quality world anymore. You have to be so selective to get even close to what is claimed.

Hi Scott, when is your next video coming out? I haven't been able to find any good video about the printer carriage and chain wiring yet!
@scottcorn
@scottcorn 2 года назад
I'm uploading now. Assuming everything looks ok a couple of hours. I have to create a thumbnail. I got all the wiring except the build plate. It was another one of those videos that should have been two. It over 35 minutes long without it. It's just so hard to break things up. lol

Did you buy a kit or self source? Does this require any soldering to build?
@scottcorn
@scottcorn 2 года назад
I sourced this build myself. The only soldering I did would be optional. I wanted a better power connection to the PI so I soldered the connector I used.

I like heavier gauge wires also. You just have to watch heavy gauge in chains. Room is an issue, but also flexibility.

If I remember correctly, you are in India correct? Unfortunately, the direct BigTreeTech manufacturer of China has been and is currently out of stock. biqu.equipment/collections/control-board/products/bigtreetech-octopus-v1-1?variant=39749194023010 The one I used and Voron documents well is a Octopus V1.1 with eight TMC2209 drivers. Here is a Amazon link but it is US. amzn.to/3HidBP3 that maybe you find your way to the India version?

3M VHB double sided tape is recommended. I used Gorilla heavy load tape. It is strong enough, but I don’t know how it will hold up to heat yet.
