Long-term / travel review of the most affordable mechanical GMTs you can get, Vostok being a brand with almost a cult-following fandom, known for it’s incredibly robust and reliable timepieces, but also really dorky, weird designs, produced few models that could appeal to broader audience… the notoriously popular Amphibia with it’s ScubaDude on the dial and this GMT… I am actually surprised no other company makes GMT like this one…

Just got my Vostok Komandierski in the mail. Excited to wear it. It’s a stunning watch to look at! I have to agree on the strap. It’s definitely cheap. It should look really good with a NATO strap! Cheers!

Thank you for a very balanced review. I have at different Vostoks and some other Russian brands from soviet Era. They are very unique and loveable for some reason.

For those who are worried about buying from russians: I bought it from a ukrainian seller on eBay. It's a fantastic watch, a piece of history, and it's indestructible, and every watchmaker here in Hungary can fix it if there's a problem with it.

Grows up in post-communist country, still gets lectured by American strangers (who likely regularly buy slave-made chinese watches, worry free) on the evils of Russia smdh. Cool watch. Good review.

Great video. I have a Komandirskie and a Amphibia and love them. I would say it would be ideal if you told us the model of the watch you review.

Acrylic may scratch easily, but it reflects very little light and doesn't shatter on impact. You can literally whack it with a stone.

I've had this watch for a few years and I love it. Since the invasion of Ukraine I've not worn it though, and I've sold al my other Vostoks. I couldn't sell this one though!

I have this Vostok GMT on a bracelete, and is great.. Keeps time better then an Miyota 8000.

We don't buy watches because me need them! I travel to Europe all the time, but I don't need a watch to calculate -5 hours. I'll give you an example : It's currently 19h30 in Italy therefore it's 14h30 in New York! You won't believe me, but I figured it out without a watch, a smart phone or a calculator! 🤣🤣 That being said, I love all 8 of my Vostok / Komandierski. More on the way!

Cool video. Just subscribed . I travel a lot between Istanbul and Jakarta and in the past Moscow, but not for more than 10 years and though I have a couple of automatic GMT's , the watch I wear most traveling is the Casio Royale AE-1200 World Timer, better than any GMT and it doesn't set off the airport security scan ! This is a good looking watch and I've just found out there is a 3rd party seller here in Turkey. Still not sure I'd buy one but at least it's there and less worry about shipping damage. A,general question. Is it possible to mod these with a sapphire crystal ??

I never go more than 1 hour- est but I like knowing GMT because it is the global standard of time similar to English being the standard for aviation and maritime language so it just is what it is

My wife and I have Vostok's. Hers is the Komandirskie, mine is the Amphibia. I changed the casebacks to display casebacks. The secret to buying Vostok is: Do Not Get a Date version!!! The inner bezel on my Alpinist moves more then the bezel on my Vostok. LOL Cheers!!!!
