I never realized until watching this, that the music was dynamic, and added more instruments everytime you dunked and got further, always love when games do this kind of music progress.
@@devrim6 right, I recall Deep stone being the same way, but I don’t recall any raid or encounter picking up like this specific encounter. I could be extremely wrong though.
@@SonicUpdater all encounters in vog and dsc, some in last wish, first and last 2 encounter of cos, all encounters of spire and even levi had some. I don't think gos and eow had anything substantial, only phase specific stuff.
I still cant believe how some people have the music turned off in this game when its one of the best things it has. I remember doing this raid day 1 and when that dps phase came it hit HARD, it felt like a true raid boss moment.
4:00 The fact that the first Pyramid entity we fight has a damage phase theme that’s a remix of “Guardian” (the D1 start screen theme) is amazing. Decided to edit this after 10 months, if you are curious why people where correcting me it’s because I mistook Guardian for The Traveler.
He is not a pyramid entity, he is from a Planet named lubrae what makes him a lubraean and he has nothing to do with the pyramids.. i think he lived(?) In that pyramid which is from the zeugen (i dont know the english word, sry) that megamind dude you know
@@sasatype0538 He was found by the witness in Lubrae, and it made him its disciple. The pyramid is a part of the power he received when he vowed to be the disciple of the witness. After it, he single-handedly slaughtered a lot of civilizations including his own over the galaxy, injuring the leviathan which was guarding the "prison" of worm gods by taking one of its spine. And he corrupted the worm gods with darkness, resulting in the creation of hive. After the pact between krill (pre-worm hive) and the worms, he was stationed by the witness to oversee savathun, who the witness was considering to make her into an another disciple. But he was damn narcissistic and arrogant, so savathun and rhulk hated each other, to the point where that he verbally t-bagged oryx in front of her when he died. In return, savathun gave rhulk the bird by trapping him by turning the light mode of her throne world. That's why there is a sunken pyramid in savathun's throne world. P.S. Rhulk's arrogance eventually became the cause of his downfall by the guardians, because even he decided to kill the guardians who entered his pyramid, he decided to toy them while fighting them. When he realized that they actually hurts a lot, it was too late. (Guardians spammed the supers on him).
You're the only person I've managed to find who has the *full* music variety, especially the basic percussion at the start. It's so cool but nobody seems to include that version. Thanks for the recording!
I have 30+ hours of sleep debt and here I am literally crying because adore how the composer utilized dissonance in the ad phases/ early boss phases, and then builds to the light motif of the entire destiny franchise during the damage phase. The dynamic crafting of the music just sells the heroism within the boss fight so well. The music is fighting with you, and music makes you braver.
7:00. Fantastic programming, they reached the platform before the previous music section finished, but the transition into the dps phase music was so smooth
I actually made a video about synchronizing the music and the gameplay at the Rhulk boss fight as smooth as possible, here's the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_0rbDJ9ZqZc.html&ab_channel=Ingamesyncedmusic
ASs someone who plays tuba and dabbles in bass trombone, I can assure you that there were FAT grins on the faces of the low brass instrumentalists. If I were in that ensemble, I would've been wheezing of laughter afterwards cuz oh my lordy L O R D
There is nothing more heart pounding then on the day one experience when the choir starts singing at the dmg phase and you are on that final push to cross the line
there are various amount of other channels that have done this very thing for other raids / strikes / dungeons im sure of it! you can also find the full 3 phase progression of the rhulk encounter which sounds great as well and I highly recommend a listen. Thank you all for stopping by!
Rhulk's OST is actually Literally, by Literal I mean LITERALLY Light Vs. Dark Music The start of The OST is that deep horn we hear like the Darkness OST and at 2:40 we hear the Tower OST music if you know that tune then mix mash it with the Darkness OST then there ya go, you have a banger music that fights who has the better tune and better feels.
8:23 for some reason this part of the song is the most epic for me, it’s like triumphant music but for both sides, like both are fighting with they’re fullest with super high stakes(I know Rhulk prob had a bit to spare maybe) but hey that’s just my take, fucking love the whole song tho
This boss music has always stood out the most for me out of all of the raids to date. I know some people have other preferences, but the Guardian motif blasting in triumphantly as you start to damage Rhulk is nothing short of fantastic, especially since I am quite invested in the story at this point, and this boss is a massive step up towards combating the root cause of humanity's suffering in the Destiny universe. We've fought minions of the Darkness before, and Rhulk certainly is still a minion in that sense, but he's responsible for the Hive being what they are. It's the first time playing this game that felt like the story was actually going somewhere.
Destiny 2 is phenomenal when it comes to its ost especially for it's raids, my first realization of this was when 4 of us decided to try to cheese Last Wish for 1k for Particle Deconstruction. I was too focused at the time to listen to Riven's music, but then I was chosen first by the Heart. The moment I picked up that orb and the Music blasted into my headset I immediately felt the weight and importance of the encounter. I wish I had a steady group of friends to have enjoyed D2 since Year 1, I know I would of loved doing day 1 raids and pushing Master content.
I think it also goes without saying how the audio sync programming side of things has come a long way. Doom 2016 was a good example of "the more you progress a firefight, the more intense the music gets" i.e verse, pre chorus, chorus. Here you can hear the progression of the battle demonstrating these techniques using important effective audio cues during mechanics and damage.
Everytime I do a day one, I crank up the music and this is why. Hearing this while you’re doing minimal damage to a boss stressed as shit to see if THIS is the run. This is truly why we love destiny.
Still the best raid boss theme. The Witness should have had something along these lines utilizing the Darkness motif more heavily. Wasn't bad, but this theme was perfect for the Rhulk fight.
When i saw the Video title, i first thought this was some sort of challange, to complete the encounter while everyone in the team has no sfx and no comms.
the reason why it's more intense is because. it's literally the FIRST true darkness entity we have encountered. let alone the witnesses first disciple so, makes sense for his theme to have a more aggressive version of the darkness motif, same with any future potential darkness-based songs related to any other disciples
Per Bungies Guidelines you are free to post any music that they haven't posted themselves. I think this is diffrent enough to the one they put up to be relatively safe.
It actually kinda hurts me that the snare was killed in the mix on the OST release of The first disciple I know drummers that would sell body parts to have a snare that popped like that
