Best Drmo hands down on the Vox StompLab IIG. This was the deal breaker for me. Thanks for taking the time to make it very clear what this pedal can really do..
Thanks bro. I just bought my sl2g and just 2 minutes in, & I'm confident this video will teach me how to use expression pedal as wah. Awesome and thanks again. 🔥🤘
I bought one of these earlier this year. I was wondering, for those who use it live, how many mostly use the presets/user settings, and how many tweak on the fly in edit mode?
Thank you. I'll give that a try I've already invested way too much time in this and just can't get it set so I can use it. I bought because the AC30 Amplug2 sounded so great, I thought this would sound even better. Maybe its me lol. Thanks again.
thanks for the video, after researching on internet i found some review about sl2g they say it is noisy for high gain stuff nd m confused between sl2g and zoom g1xon which one to buy. zoom is full of plastic does it last long for live gig. can i get slash sound from it if i can,do u make a video of famous artist sounds that we can get from this pedal. will appreciate ur help :)
Minha stomp nao está mais saindo som, o que pode ter acontecido.. ela passa todos os bancos afina mas não está tem os sons reproduzidos. O que pode ter acontecido? Desde ja agradeço
Hi! Thanks for the video. My question is - once you've assigned the function for the pedal in the edit mode, will it become valid for all the programs after that? For example, if I assign a wah, will it be the wah pedal for all the pre-set effects? If I would like to have one function for the pedal all the time for all effects, - is it possible? Thank you for your answer!
Dima Ulyanov Hi Dima. No it will not. It will only be the wah function for that particular preset. When you click off of that preset, it will go to whatever function it's set for on the new preset. Does that make sense?
Great review man! I am planning to buy a cheap processor. Shall I go for this one or RP55? I find stomplab's sound more authentic while 55 sounds too digitalized
Satyam Dwivedi Hi Satyam. I haven't reviewed the RP55, but the Stomplab does have some pretty good tones.....I would bet that it could be a better choice.
Hi! First that all thx for the video! Now my question is: do you recomend it as a modulation pedal trough the fx loop? Can it work in Bypass or at least can you turn off the amp/cab modulation without altering the original tone? Thank you!
Diego Riaño Hi Diego. I'm pretty sure, you can turn off the amp/cab section, and then just use the modulation. However, I'm not sure about the Stomplab being used in an effects loop.....doesn't look like the manual talks much about that usage.
Yes....I believe so. For each of the categories (CAB, DLY, AMP/DR), I think you use the up and down arrows to turn them on/of. Set them all to off....other than the way and you should be good to go.
Here is what happened: There is no "GBL" in the program/value display. Do you mean "GL" in the program setting window and then the A2 value? There is also no "pedal setting button" to be found anywhere. Do you mean the "assign" button next to the pedal, or do you mean the "PDL" setting used in edit mode? Even more confused.
Hi Leonardo. Sorry for such a late response. I believe you can do this by using "pitch shift" as your modulation effect and then assign the foot pedal to change the Value 1 parameter. A little complicated, but I think the user manual can provide some additional guidance.
I am wondering if can use expression pedal as Wah pedal while playing heavy metal category there? Can you please also let me know if we can add delay to any of those categories?
Dennis McCarthy Hi Dennis. There is a really good description of how to set the pedal to the volume function on page 11 (top of page) of the user manual. I simply downloaded it off the internet - no problem. Try this....if it doesn't make sense, let me know and we'll figure it out together Dennis.
Hey Jeremy. Thanks for the question. I didn't notice any significant tone loss when using the StompLab IIG. Let me know if you have additional questions. Feel free to check out the AskAGuitarPro website as well. See ya!
How to use it as volume pedal? I can't find any? And I kinda confuse with the 'GLOBAL' setting. I lke the A1-A3 sound for direct to mixer or headphone although it recommends to use Ln. IS there any explanation why? Am I choosing it wrong to use A1 directly to mixer?
+Grammatical Erorr Hi there. Have you downloaded the user manual? I believe one way is to utilize the pedal when you are editing the individual AMP/DR level. If you want to set the overall "Master" volume, that is when you use the GBL Categrory selection. In terms of the A1, A2, A3 vs. L1, this is simply a difference in the signal strength. The "A" signals are instrument level signals and are designed to go straight into a guitar amplifier. the L1 signal is a line level and is designed to go into a mixer, headphones, etc. It is important to make sure the signal level is appropriate for the device it is going into.
Does it start off on the expression pedal as a volume pedal and you press down on pedal to change it to wah or whatever you want it to be? Or does the volume pedal have to be chosen internally and set up on expression pedal like all the other functions that use the expression pedal?
HumbleHeartMinistry I can't remember....however, you may have to assign the volume to the expression pedal if it doesn't have an effect when the expression pedal is not "active". With that said, using it as a volume pedal is a little different, as doing that requires you to program the pedal for volume in the (GBL) (Value 2) location rather than using the (PDL) location on the category knob.
spiritd4ys Good question. The pedal can be assigned to the Value 1 or Value 2 knob......which all the effects use to change their parameters....including delay or reverb. Very funcional.
Sure. Just pick a lower gain amp or pedal setting on the Stomplab and run it into the clean channel on your amp. As you probably know, running a strat style guitar with single coil pickups will be key to nail the SRV tone.
Ok, so I just got one of these as a gift. Love the idea but I'm not sure of something, perhaps I'm missing something. I'm noticing pretty significant discrepancy in volume between different presets. Can this be fixed or is it just the way this unit is?
Absolutely you can adjust the volume for each user patch/preset.......the user manual (downloadable) goes through the steps to do this. With a little trial and error, you'll find it's pretty easy.
Hi there. I'm not sure I know of a specific reason what not to go with a Tonelab product. It just depends on what you are trying to do with the pedal. Are you trying to play live or are you primarily looking to record?
Hi, I am from India. I am using this processor for last 1 year. But the concept is not fully clear to me. 1) There are almost 100 in built tones in different categories like Blues, Rock etc. Can I copy or edit those tones? If yes, how? Because while editing or creating new tone, the tones get changed. The Rock becomes Modulation, Hard Rock becomes Delay, Metal becomes Reverb. 2) The expression pedal is not functioning in many of the 100 in built tones, but the pedal light is turned on. 4) The expression pedal does not work as the volume controller in WAH tone. Is there any other option apart from GBL? 5) What is ideal GBL parameter for live performances? 6) How can i improve the sound quality of my VOX Stomplab IIG? Do i need any interface? If yes, what do you recommend? Will the iRig2 device work? Though it is for mac devices. Sorry for asking too many questions. :)
subhajit chanda Hi subhajit. I'll try to answer your questions, here. 1) You can start the editing process by pressing edit and adjust of the parameters of the preset.....you'll then need to save to one of the 20 user banks. 2) The expression pedal may be assigned to modulation or something other than volume or wah...and you might not be noticing it....either way, you can disengage it for any of your user programs, if you'd like. 4) I'm not sure you can change the volume and the wah at the same time with the expression pedal. 5) I think it's generally preferred to have the Stomplab's output (GBL value) set high and adjust your volume at the amp. A weak output from the Stomplab could sound muddy at the amp. 6) What, specifically, are you finding, sound wise, that needs to improved?
Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to assign distortion to the expression pedal, so that I can play with a clean sound, then push the pedal and add distortion to my sound without reaching down and turning the knobs. Thanks!
+Rodrigo Yanes Hey there, my friend. In order to save, you need to select "WRITE" on the category knob then select your preset location. FYI - The user manual is easy to find (and download) on the internet.
I've got a question which is really important: does it have an opportunity to save effects in diffrent order that they are? I have a big concert for 2 days and I have to change the effects order a bit to use it like a footswitch :/
Atanu - Have you downloaded the user manual? It's very easy to get; check out pages 8 through 13. It gives a pretty decent explanation of creating and saving patches.
hey man, I'm a beginner and i was about to add new stuff in my gear....right now i have a simple 10W Laney amplifier (it doesn't have any settings other than bass/treble and has an overdrive channel). so should i buy a better amplifier or should i buy this pedal? I play metal and rock 'n roll mainly.
@@djbmanifestomode yo! I got stomplab 1g. Its okayish with small amps but with larger amps its really nice. If you can spend a bit more i would advise you to get something better and not this one as it is intended for beginners only......you cant get out much with this as you progress. The pedal started giving me problems with the metal buttons after 4 months.... 6/10 overall. Not that good but not that bad either. Get an adapter for power because it will suck up batteries real quick.
i just want to ask if the expression pedal is still can used in the clean tones, and if it is possible to use the expression pedal in other distorted pedal to use it as volume or wah if i add it to my pedal chain. thanks brother.
Hello!, great video, i would like to know if i can make my own program of effects, i mean if i want to use the effect N°34 for rythm and the N°54 for soloing, Can i put them one next to the other and just change with on press on the foot button. Sorry if my english isn't good.... And thanks in advanced, great vids!
So i program the number "x" the way i like and that's it? Thanks!!! I thought that the 100 presets were fixed and that i just can make changes in the 20 "user" presets... Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
You are correct in that you can only make 20 defined user programs. However, you can start from one of the 100 factory presets, modify it, and then save it to one of your 20 user programs. You can decide which of the programs you want the edited effect to be....for example, maybe you want your rhythm guitar to be user program #6, and your solo guitar to be user program #7. There is a lot of information in the user manual.....very easy to download. Thx. for the questions, Diego.
+Raymond Baglari Hi Raymond. I think so.....assuming your acoustic guitar is sending an instrument level signal, you should be able to send it into most processors that are designed to accept instrument level signals. Check the user manuals for the device your are considering, to be sure.
+Guezzhula - Depending upon your rig, I would choose one of the clean amps and dial in a decent amount of compression. Not so much that you get the "pop", but enough to even out the highs of the clean tone. Hope that is a starting point for you. Dial in a little bit of gain and amp volume and you should be able to get somewhat close. Thanks for the question.
Don't, don't use modelling amps with any pedal. It's going to sound like ass. You need a real transistor or real tube amp with no modeling crap to use a multi fx.
Your best bet may be to take your Vox into a store when you can try the two in combination, since tastes definitely vary widely from guitar player to guitar player.
I received this as a Christmas gift and it works great with my Vox amp as I am able to use the clean channel on the amp and use the presets from the StompLab giving me several amazing metal tone along with a bunch of other tones. Thanks for the input though guys I really appreciate it.
Hi Priyam. Sorry for taking so long to get back with you. Yes, the Stomplab has both expression and volume. Unfortunately, I don't believe it has drumbeats. Thanks for the questions.
Depends on the settings for the pedal. If you have a high gain amp selected, you could have a note sustain for a very long time. Same applies with a heavy distortion pedal or a lot of compression. Thx. for the question Allen.
To "Guitar Shredder's" Question. I don't believe the Vox Stomplab has a direct out for recording directly to a computer.....you'll need to mic an amp or find an interface to get the signal to your computer. I'd say the high gain metal distortion settings are maybe a little above average.
+AskAGuitarPro Hello I'm thinking about buying this pedal. I'm a beginner, and in search for some effects for playing some pink floyd. Is this pedal good enough; has it some correct delay and rever? Thanks for answering ;-)
Sure. As for the Green Day tone, I'd dial in any of the higher gain UK Amp presets. From there, you should be able to have the gain about halfway up and get close. Pretty easy to achieve metal tones, as well. The Tube Screamer, itself, will only get you so much gain, unless you are planning on using in front of an overdriven amplifier.
+AskAGuitarPro I need some help! Im 90% sure i will get this as a christmas present and i was just wondering how do i plug it in to my guitar/amp? I have a guitar, an amp and a Cable from the guitar to the amp. What more do i need? Do i need even more Cables and what type of Power supply does this one need. Great video btw
Hey there, my friend. You will need to get another 1/4" guitar/instrument cable that will get you from the Stomplab's output to the amp. So here is the breakdown: Guitar - Guitar cable to input of Stomplab - Stomplab output to Amp input. Make sense, SaJGoN?
Siam - You might be able to get close with one of the high gain amp models. Start with the US High Gain 1 or 2. You'll definitely need a guitar with humbuckers.
Good question. When you're adjusting the Auto Wah effect (on the "Pedal" Category), the "Value 1" knob adjusts the Sensitivity/Polarity, per the User's Manual.
The point is polarity and phase are often confused but are not the same thing. Polarity can either be normal or inverted (and when inverted could be described as a 180° phase shift). Phase is measured in degrees, so can be adjusted incrementally. Unfortunately guitarists have a history of misusing terminology - eg tremolo & vibrato. In this context it's not such a big deal I guess, but it would be better if respected manufacturers would be more diligent in correctly utilizing technical terminology.
Bro, your guitar playing sounds great, and your video gives me a decent idea of what I'm getting here, but realistically I can't hear a damn word you're saying.,.. But you still get a thumbs up
I've had this thing for about five months, and no one seems to be able to explain how to use the expression pedal as a simple volume pedal. I've searched every word written about it on the internet, read the manual over and over, but there is no explanation anywhere of to make the pedal's "target' a volume. None of the eight possible "PDL" targets is for a volume pedal, and there isn't a word about how to do this in the manual. This demo doesn't explain it either. Really sorry I bought this. Another piece of Vox junk.
Otis - Not sure if this answers your question.....I grabbed this from the user manual...."To assign volume to the expression pedal, press the pedal setting button after the master volume ([GBL] VALUE2) appears on the program/value display. "CP" will appear briefly on the program/value display and the volume can be changed by using the expression pedal".
