Bob Weigel of www.sounddoctor... goes over the common issues with the vox super (dual) continental) Organ and documents a very peculiar problem where several notes had minor thirds bleeding in significantly....which turned out to be just dirty ground buss connections at locations where that footage would be bleeding. One was an octave but all others were minor thirds which I still don't quite understand... but if you see it...lol..now you know how to fix it hopefully!

I've almost restored a grey top 300 that looked like it came from a swamp. Rusted solid and not very well internally I stripped and refurbed just about everything and got it all working except the walking bass. I replaced all the electrolytics and the foil caps on the board and had that all working too just before christmas. Then 2 days later. After moving it the walking bass is playing up again.( had it all to pieces again and can't see anything out of place or dislodged.) The 1st octave of bass tones make a distorted multitone when one of the bass keys are pressed then turns into a duophonic tone a second or so later. The only note in the bass that works correctly is G#. If you remove the wire from the G# oscillator to the bass board the remaining notes play with the same distorted "Fart" that then clears to play the correct tone. I can't actually tell whats leaking I suspect one or more of the diodes in the bass keying matrix most likely the one that is in the G# circuit. However all the diodes measure the same on diode check. At this stage I'm out of ideas anybody have any advice?

@Peacefrog35 Thanks. I'll try when I get some time maybe next month. I have been looking for the trim pieces for so long.

@bozwan it's a job. Pull everything out. Total pain. Get help..extra hands. I can't give specific help without looking at the thing.

Hey Bob! I just purchased a Vox Super Continental and I've noticed 2 issues with it. 1) My vibrato light turns on but no vibrato is audible unfortunately. 2) The lowest B note on the lower octave does not play the bass note (only plays the regular note) when bass is engaged. Besides that everything else seems to work great. Any advice? Best, Tom

@mewrth rods? I assume you mean the frames. hehe. Never heard them called rods before but anyway I use RV goop usually for things like that or E6000 from the same company. It's a stretchy adhesive that holds things tight until you really reef on it. But if something gets bumped there is a tiny amount of shock absorbtion as the adhesive stretches then returns to original position. Much better than hard adhesives that will sometimes crack when something is bumped. Ask Paul Re: key swaps

@bozwan I imagine 3m contact cement or the like. I don't do the tolex work. We have an upholstery guy do it. Just ask one and they'll have a good recommendation I'm sure. -

Hiya - I want to re-tolex my Vox Supercontinental. Have you done this before - can you help me out?

Hi Bob, I am restoring my Continental Baroque and I wanted to know what glue you suggest to put the keytops back on the metal rods. Also, I have 5 GEM white accidental keytops (good condition) for GEM organ bass sections. I would like to trade those for VOX white keytops (just like the one in the video) because they have different dimensions. I understand you repair GEM organs from time to time. would you, or Paul be interersted?

Hiya, I can imagine it is difficult. Are you able to private message me your email address so I can send you some photos. I'm in London UK and I don't know anyone around here that can do it. Is the tolex itself difficult to get hold off? What glue did you use. Thanks
