Scenes from Mechte Navstrechu (1963).
A rocket from a distant planet approaching Earth must land on Mars due to a technical defect, thus the inhabitants of the Earth rush to their help.

This 64 minute film is equally on par with the visionary scope & execution of any American, British, or whoever's science fiction films from the era. And doubtlessly influenced generations of filmmakers who managed to see it, from Mario Bava through Dan O'Bannon, the Skotek brothers & James Cameron, maybe even yourself.
As chance may have it the film's standout effects sequences are better known than some may be aware of. This was one of three Soviet scifi epics who's American & UK rights were purchased by Roger Corman in the early 1960s -- "Nebo zovyot" (1960), or THE SKY IS CALLING; "Planeta Bur" (1962), or PLANET OF STORMS; and "Mechte navstrechu" (1963), or A DREAM COME TRUE, also known by the more descriptive title ENCOUNTER IN SPACE.

Thank you for sharing with us this lovely masterpiece of sci fi film, it deserves a lot of attention due to its set design and cast of artists, and its story is interesting too, due to undertones about species and competition. Thanks again!

This movie scared me when I was younger. It still creeps me out. A planet of vampires that send their queen to feed on us. Great twist at the end.

Much of QUEEN OF BLOOD (aka PLANET OF BLOOD) is derived from the 1963 Russian film A DREAM COMES TRUE (aka A MEETING IN THE UNIVERSE). All of the "big" scenes and elaborate special effects came from that movie (plus some misc shots from another Russian movie, NEBO ZOWET). The American part of the movie are the smaller, simpler scenes dealing with actors and dialogue aboard the spaceships. I had a chance to meet both the Russian co-director and the American director. What a difference!

Surreal science fiction cinema from the 1960s is simply wonderful...from Italy to America to the UK to all over the Soviet bloc, there was some ballsy sci-fi being made back then!

Yes, you saw him: QUEEN OF BLOOD is a 1966 north american film, with John Saxon too. A very good sci fi horror film, deeply interesting! Please search for QUEEN OF BLOOD here on RU-vid to see more scenes, ok? Good luck.
