Voyagers! Omni Version 1 with screen accurate sounds! I added a new back plate and new sound chip. This was designed from the Voyagers! Marco Polo episode.
What about making it usable???? Smart phone watches are small could you actually put smart phone watch in center where globe was ... Make the sucker usable not just a prop for conversation
Let me know the dimensions and/or the model? I thought about that in the past but they all look too big. It would be interesting to put something with lights and sounds like the red/ green light and a globe if that could be done with a smartphone custom app maybe? That way you wouldn't need any space for electronics/ battery.
I'm really surprised a company that makes prop replicas hasn't made these by now. There seems to be a demand for them. Maybe it's too obscure of a show though. I have one made of brass from a long time ago but I don't remember the person that made it. I think he was one of the first to make one. It's really heavy.

I made a silver Omni out of aluminum many years ago, and had it chrome plated. Back when I had access to a shop with a lathe and a milling machine. The aluminum was easy to work with. I had a reading lamp that had the perfect dome on the top which I cut out for the lid. It turned out very well, but there wasn't much room inside for electronics so it just had some LED lights and that was it.
Thanks, the red light sound was taken from the billy and bully episode, the green light from the houdini episode.the escape switch long falling sound was from the pilot, and other episodes for the whoosh and space-explosion sound.
It is made from brass out of parts I designed for shapeways. Out of other materials it would be cheaper because brass is more expensive but I don't think it would turn out as nice. Replicaprops.com is developing an omni and the parts are on that website which gives an idea of the price for each.
