Hi Matthew. I found your channel as I was looking around on the internet in order to get hold of an VQ DC-3 model and I am living in Denmark and found one silver model in Norway and a set of electric retracts in Germany and today you surprised me with the idea of making som realistic engine parts which I found in your shop. Now I am simply waiting for some interesting gear coming to me within a couple of weeks. I hope. I like your channel and there are lots of good stuff to make the assembly a little easier for me. The maiden flight, by the way was a little disappointing. I willl get back as soon as I have the model inhouse. See you and thanks for the fine ScaleMeDown channel :) BR Tommi

Thanks Tommi. I have just started the 3D printer to make your parts. Glad you like the channel. Checking/setting the washout (incidence at the wingtips) is critical to success with this model.

@@ScaleMeDown hello again. Hit the wrong button. I am not shure What you Mean wit the washout on the wingtips.

@@tommimadsen3719 Hi, no problem. I measured the angle of incidence (angle of attack) of the airfoil at the wing tip compared to the wing root, and found that the cause of the crash on the maiden flight was the angle of incidence was higher at the tip than at the root (ie the wing tip stalled before the wing root) - bad design. It was a simple fix however to twist the tips back so that the tip has 2 degrees less incidence than the root and re-shrink the covering. The aileron then appeared twisted in comparison to the tip, so I carefully separated the top and bottom skins along the trailing edge with a sharp knife, twisted and clamped them to align at the roots and the tips, and re-glued them by wicking thin CA along the trailing edge. The flying qualities are much improved, and the stall is now tamed with these simple modifications. If I were you, I would carefully measure the angle of incidence at both wing tips, and at the root. I also set the centre of gravity at 95mm (instructions say 100-110mm from the leading edge) as I found it to be too far aft. Hope you have better success with your maiden flight.
