U have to promise me. Never delete the Video! I watched it 10 times in the Last 5 years. This is the beste VR6 Sound Video on RU-vid. Greetings from Germany. ✋
The unique sound of VR6 has to do with intake and exhaust port lenghts. Three cylinders have shorter exhaust ports (longer intake) and the other three have longer exhaust ports (shorter intake). A similar thing is done with Subaru's boxer engine, but with the exhaust manifold, where two cylinders have a longer exhaust pipe than the other two cylinder and thus making the iconic boxer rumble.
Sounds great. I can’t wait to put my VR6 in my ‘92 Cabby. Don’t care if it’s not the fastest. Sounds absolutely awesome in these cars and yes they move plenty fast compared to the 1.8L turd they came with in the MK1.
Mods are in the description. The exhaust is just an eBay header with a 3" aluminum cat-back (no catalytic converter and a small Magnaflow muffler at the rear). The reason the sound in the video is so strong is due to the fact that I have an external mic connected to the camera that I hooked up on the rear bumper aimed at the exhaust tip.
VW4life100 actually...it sounds like the pipe has no feedback.....not a real problem with an turboless engine ...but it kills HP... I had an hand made pipe on my old vr6 and it was pretty quiet..it had an electronic port ,when the pressure gets to high it dumps it down the main pipe (straigt) just like an rs3 or 6 with adaptable exhausts !
Not sure why anyone would call this slow? It’s a 6 cylinder from early 90s 172hp now just like any motor add upgrades and it gets faster & faster! Simple and slap a turbo like a gt35 and the motor will make 500hp all day!
people now a days just want to buy a car that has more factory horsepower because they're inexperienced or lazy. They look for immediate validation instead of putting time and effort into making a car fast
@@Deuces. You couldn’t of said it any better my friend and this is coming from a Volkswagen enthusiast which has a VR6 and I also have a 16 valve Vw motor that makes north of 600 hp in a rabbit
+Nicholas Snodgrass This video was done with a custom 3" Aluminum exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler and one of those cheap, crappy eBay headers.. I've since switched it to a simple 2.5" Techtonics Tuning system.
It's a stock engine designed in the late 80's, early 90's... no one made a ton of power then. I've got a modern 2.0L VW diesel that makes just as much power and twice the torque. I've also got a 15 year old 2.0L Saab engine making over 400whp; it's not a dick measuring contest, it's just a fun car that makes fun noises.
