What up notification squad! Thanks to each and every one of you guys for helping this build get to where it's at now... Waiting on parts like a proper project car!
I have a Kinetics manifold like yours since 2006-2007. Your turbo flange is T3? The top two T3 bolt holes on the manifold (turbo side) will make a hole through the inside and expose the tip of the bolts to exhaust gases once they are in. Not sure if you knew that, neither how bad a problem it could be. The metal is too thin in that area and came off with time. I appreciate your build and how great you explain things! Keep it up man! Happy New Year and happy 2018 mods! :)
Did you decide already which transmission gearbox u will install? I have issues, nothing except DSG7 DQ500 match 3.2 TT mk2 engine well, and as far is I know it is usual way to upgrade transmission.. what to do, what to do.. I expected at least 600 Nm but what can handle it?
As Technician myself, with over 6 years of experience, I love seeing your videos of how you diagnose issues. It’s a great refresher and I’ve definitely learned from them. Looking forward to seeing that master cylinder video.
Makes me want to find a fixer-upper VW and exlpain to my wife why I need it. Thanks, Charles. Thanks a lot. Hehe. Really, it was great fun watching as you progressed through the build. I can see myself doing something like this with the kids one day. Keep up the fun, man. 😊
Man you're such a cool dude. I love your videos. I grew up in Utah and moved to NC a couple years ago. I moved back to UT this year and I bought a mk3 jetta gt. I want another vr6. I had a 24v and I miss that thing. It stayed in Charlotte.
Im currently stripped and doing up my mk4 1.8 gti AGU with ko4 turbo lines exhaust bigger injectors and fuel pump have so many new ideas thanks to watching this build
The thumbnail you have for the first drive of the Wookiee is probably best pic of you out there! Cracks me up every time. Loved the progress this year, can't wait to see where the car goes next year.
This is super great! I have a Tornado Red 98 GTI VR6 that is literally sitting. This motivates me to someday in the future, get back to it and finish the turbo dream. Keep up the good work!
Looking forward to the upcoming Passat videos. I've done a ton with my '08 (valve cleaning, oil filter housing, intake cam replacement, chain tensioner replacement, alternator...)
I'd love to see you dyno the GTI at some point once your at the point where you'd like to do that if that sounds like something you're into. That would be a cool thing to know as well as how much boost your running and what power you initially wanted to make along with the future for the GTI. I'm totally going to boost my car and you and other channels have already been a huge help in deciding what I'd like to do and now I'm just looking for the fine details like IF you were going to boost your car what's all the steps you'd want to take to protect the car without going to the extreme like you've done with the GTI which I know I've said this before but SICK BUILD so sick. Love it. Keep up the great work man learned so much from this channel and I don't even work on cars just a car lover. Happy holidays and looking forward to 2018 :D
Charles! This is crazy, but I went out to drive my mk2 VR the other day and I think I'm having the same problem. Clutch master is leaking internally I think, causing the slave to not quite extend ALL the way. Tried bleeding the slave and all I have is consistent bubbles just like your video. My clutch pedal is too light pushing down, and it doesn't really resist my foot as I let it back up. Anyways, congrats on the mk3 and all the work you've been doing. Love keeping up with you and your videos, and thanks for the time you put into them!
So excited to see you moving to the Passat. I’m currently in the middle of front wheel bearings / half shafts on our ‘06. Seems like I’m always doing something to it, but it’s SO fine to drive...
I don't know if it's because of the new year coming around the corner but now I just want to work on a VR6 or 1.8T project. But I need to finish up my Mk3 2.0 16v first lol. Enjoyed this video and loved the progress made on the white wookie.
I've got a spare 24v VR6 waiting to be put in my '04 GTi shell...been on the fence about turboing it...not sure if this is helping me decide or not lol
I'm thinking of changing the engine in my 01 Bora (Jetta) from a 1.6 105 hp (It's a European thing...) to either a 1.8 turbo or a VR5.. I'm not talking tuning or anything, just replacing the engine and doing supporting mods. Both builds have their pros and cons, but the main thing will be wiring harness and ecu for the VR5... As far as I know, there is a maximum of 4 VR5's in my country. so getting parts could be a nightmare..... The 1.8T is more work, but parts are easier to find and cheaper... Dilemmas....
You seem to know alot about how to properly turbo charge a car. I dont know if you know anything about the Honda R18 engine, but thats what I have. There is a turbo kit available for this engine but I have read this engine itself isnt made to produce power and isnt worth boosting. So my question is, do you think its possible with some work to be able to boost my R18 up to 250hp from its 140hp stock and still maintain my 45mpg highway fuel economy? My thought was that if the turbo doesnt spool up until about 3k rpms under that threshhold I can keep my engine parameters the same since there isnt any boost at that point. Is this possible? If there is something I am missing please let me know. I love to learn.
I have my own vr6t build myself, basically very similar to this. But I'm having a big problem I can't solve, starts right up n runs great but when I turn it off and try to start it again warm it won't start until I plug a cool coolant temp sensor.
Love the work, if you had to Guess-to-mate the HP and Torque and what RPM what would it be? is there a p.o box for viewer to send items? thanks Tim. OH is it faster that a 2017 passat with a VR6? ?
I need a lot of help, please someone?! I have R32 MK5 with a 3.2l VR6 24v and I have everything ready for the R32 to be boosted, but I don’t know where to connect oil feed line,, please help! Thank you!
Hey I have a mk3 Cabrio with the popping out of reverse do you work on transmissions I have a spare trans and would like to go through it and make sure it is in good condition before I put it in the car
Phillip Williams The issue is the boring plate that simulates the head bieng installed. Can you give me more info on milage? It usually only needs a head rebuild/chains/maybe a hone and rings.
Phillip Williams Try rebuilding just the head, get a 250$ junkyard shortblock and some chains , there are more than a few guys pushing 700 on a stock high mileage shortblock.(ARP bolts only) Start with a compression check/check your plugs for blow by(black wet carbon)
jeremy whittler I understand bro I have three blocks sitting in the garage been building engine for years I spun a rod bearing on my last built block. I need the engine bored to go to 82mm pistons instead of 81mm which is more expensive and are 1 off. My last build was 81mm JE pistons with IE rods but for my lugtronic and dog gears factory pistons don't work for my setup for my aimed power level. Just hard finding someone in NC that's familiar with boring a 12v vr6.
Any experience with the c2 turbo software for the mk3? I'm thinking of using that with the kinetics kit on mine and wondering if it keeps all that stuff intact. Thanks for replying
Daniel Stahl. It looked like it was old and brittle in the video. Bet he wished he replaced it while the car was apart lol. All the coolant system plastic on my last Mazda was the same way, age and previous owners neglecting coolant services turns the stuff into brittle pulpy shit.
Meh, the only overlap would have been coolant fill and those 2 lines. I haven't done anything in the interior. But yea just old crap plastic, and a neglected cooling system .
HumbleMechanic I learned about using urethane foam(open cell) tape to refresh the duct foam(30$). I think silicone open cell foam and foam sheet's would last longer , but it may hold moisture. It was 400$ for the gasgets @ my local VW dealer and some are discontinued. A bypass makes for a dangerous drive in incliment weather.
my temp Gauge is always in my sight.... tried to go with a mishimoto big rad setup but you have to notch the core support for the mk4 Vr6. And delete ac... which was not an option for me in an all black car. Glad to see your build moving along bud. Follow my Wookiee build on instagram PnwVr6r
