I’ve got mine sitting on the floor next to my rig... Just waiting for my Cube Controls GT Pro wheel to arrive 😊 It’s harder than waiting for your first child to be born 🤣
I have had mine a while now and it’s fantastic. Love the strength and detail. I’m sure most top end dd’s are similar but I really like the VRS personally.
Great video Dave. I completely agree with your review. I've noticed that I'm catching a lot more slides with the DFP for 2 reasons: 1.) I can feel when the slide actually starts (when the back and first begins to step out) 2.) The DFP is SO FAST. Lap-saving adjustments can be made lightning quick. Coming from a T300RS, any direct-drive wheel base will be a near infinite step up. But I just can't get over how much better it is to drive with my DFP. I'm really loving it!
Great review @davecam, always enjoyed your videos, keep it up good work 💪 I switched from sc2 pro to vrs and I do not regret, I saved 500 euros for ascher steering wheel, I do not see any difference in feelings between sc2 and vrs
Hello mate Do you still in vrs and How it Feels After the new Software With Filters i hope you Cann answar becuse i will pick up a new dd coming From t300 Thank Mate
Awesome review Dave! I’ve recorded my unboxing of this product and will be uploading it shortly for anyone that’s interested! With regards to opinions on the wheel, agree in all areas with Dave.
The FFB strength also has a lot to do with the in-game settings. For iRacing, you can set at what telemetry output it hits 20Nm. So if it's set at, say 60Nm, it'll scale so that when the telemetry hits 60Nm, the wheel is putting out 20Nm. I have a Simucube 1 which is basically the same thing as the VRS with the small mige. I keep it at 100% and use in-game settings to get the feel where I want it.
For what it's worth, this is the kind of "review" I personally want to see. A guy tells you what his background is and his opinion of how the product performs. The end. If you haven't used the product, it's not a review. If you're disassembling the product, you've lost my interest. Some people like that stuff, but some don't.
YAAAAY. I've been waiting for this. I'm on the waiting list right now 😴 you covered everything I wanted to know. I really hope I'm able to get one. Thank you for this Dave 👍🏎️🏆
I bought a Simucube 2 pro thinking I needed the 25Nm. However, I find that I generally have mine set to about 5Nm. I guess that the strength of a guy who spends a lot of time picking up packets of crisps and nothing heavier. Note I have transitioned from a 15-year-old G25 in recent weeks so 5Nm is a big upshift.
@@Dejota95 I think from when I placed my reservation to when I could actually buy it was 4 or 5 weeks. Once payed I had it in my hands within two days.
Got mine a week ago, Reinforcing my Rig this week, waiting for an SRC GT-1 Pro steering wheel to arrive end of Sept. Oct will be a sim racer reboot. Great channel Dave, keep it up.
I am on the waiting list at Mydas for your setup, so impressive and Matt at Mydas has been very supportive. Thank you for the guidance; helpful as always.
I’m on the waiting list. Already have the hub side kit for my Fanatec wheels waiting. On another note I had my 1st + irating race today since I came back in April. It was only a +1 but at least I’m moving forward again.
Dave ya sold me here I got on the wait list and a month later its on its way arriving next week......Ive been doing tweaks on my rig as it is....In a Oval track guy 99% of the time but like watching what you do on road courses! I'm moving out of the Funnytec World to HE Sprints and SQ Shifter.....I'm invert mounting the Sprints as we speak. for the wheel I had a OMP style Wheel i was going to use on my Clubpsport Pro but never did but have ordered a RS3 Button Pod from TURN Racing and using a NRG D style quick disconnect for 70MM....should be totally set up by the start of the 2021 first season!
I think I'll most likely go with this wheel to get back into sim racing. After originally being excited about the Fanatec CSL DD for 350$ + a power supply. I don't think the 350$ wheel itself has ever been in stock. If you buy the wheel and power supply together for 500$ it used to be (150$ for a power supply lol). Now the only option in stock is 600$ for the Grand Turismo edition, the same wheel which also works on playstation. 600$ for a 350$ wheel which claims 8nM. With as sketchy as Fanatec has become, it probably is more like 7nM PEAK for a microsecond. You can bet Fanatec would have mentioned the word "continuous" several times in big bold letters. I could be wrong but I'd guess in reality it's probably more like 3nM continuous at operating temp
Looks like the same as my wheel jumping around with the AFV2 cloud tuning is great . I just bought it it’s plug and play now loads up a tuned profile for you it’s amazing easier to set up then my other first wheel Logitech G29.
Hello Dave. With this VRS Did you mount the motor with cable plugs on top...or did you rotate the motor to get cables on side or bottom? Also where do you download the base software? I don’t see anything on there website. Ty for all your info...I bought this base cuz of your vid.
Solid review Dave, thanks, Barry Rowland better look over his left shoulder! Next review simshaker jetpad from andre’s shop, will be a great addition to your rig
Love the content as always. Im sure it has been mentioned but I would really love to see you in a Porsche Cup car in ACC. I joined a race for the first time a week or so ago and loved it!
Absolutely love mine as well! Also that Motamec rim is fabulous. A bit thicker at the grip area which makes the heavy forces less straining for the fingers compared to other rims.
Hi Dave, was wondering what wheel and button box is that you’re using? Does it connect via usb? If so are you able to map the buttons and use them with the VRS? I’m coming from a Accuforce V1, second batch lol and was looking for something that would be a noticeable upgrade without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance for any answers to these questions.
Great review mate, once my office conversion is done, I'll be ordering one from Matt at Mydas. He's a top bloke so if you're considering getting one then go for it!
I'm perplexed by if I need a spacer with my VRS, and if I do, what recommendations regarding make, model, size, etc. For context, I have a SimLabs PX1 with a standalone single monitor mount, the MIGE front style wheel deck, and a 49" Samsung UW. I kinda think that I do need a spacer but I'm unsure if a 3"+ (70-100mm) is overkill or not. Perhaps the rule of thumb, better to have extra than not enough, I'm guessing... Also, does it tell you how many Nm 47% actually is? I've read that most people use around 8-10 Nm.
Can't help with the spacers but 47% is just under half the power of the unit so roughly 8nm. I personally use 50% in the VRS software and adjust in game per car.
@dave were you using the v1 or v2 accuforce? Because before crapping all over it you might wanna state which one u were using. Im pretty sure you wee using the v1. And if that is the case if I didnt know better id be staying away from accuforce after watching this. But I own a v2 and its great. Ive also used a dd2. The v2 is by far better than the dd2. I cant talk for the vrs one though.
V1 & V2 were pretty much the same. Only cosmetic changes and the V2 even lost the usb hub that the V1 had along with some other features. This is just my opinion btw. I'm not crapping on the Accuforce, just saying that in my opinion this is way better 👍
I'm considering getting back into sim racing and have been looking at upgrading my gear. This is just one more wheel that I have to research now. Thanks...... Ha
Great review. Im lucky enough to have one of these DirectForce Wheels for 6 weeks now, so far really pleased with it. The only thing is that my base is a little noisy when under load and heavy effects (58% Vrs Software, 81% AC) I couldnt hear any sound coming from your motor, or is the game sound too loud?
What is your smoothing setting at? You'd find it's a bit noisy at 0 smoothing since you're getting the raw signal. If you're at 1 already maybe try 2? VRS is also working on the firmware and one of the fixes in the next official release is to make it a bit quieter under low/no load.
Keegan Leahy i currently use the smoothing setting on 1, as well as the dampening. I already tried smoothing on 2, but the feeling the wheel provides does not fit me. Its not like the noise is disturbing me, since im using headphones. Just being curios
Hello Dave What wheel rim are you running? Cube...model Also you on wireless rim or USB? Is this wheel base compatible with Fanatic quick release rims? Ty for your information 👍🏻👍🏻
Software looks very similar to the Simplicity SW20-V3 I wonder if they share the same electronic hardware and software is made to look slightly different. Great vid Dave.
@@davecamyt ah, i see. I actually just got the V2 and am loving it. My 1st DD wheel, so nothing to compare to. Thanks for the reply, keep your vids coming, always entertaining.
Do you auto configure the ffb through iRacing when you change cars or tracks? I’ve noticed that if you do there is a huge difference between light open wheel cars and heavier GT cars. This makes a big difference for me with a CSW 2.5 - some cars and tracks auto configure to 9 or 10 and others auto to 20. Wondering if it’s the same for the direct drive equipment too.
Hi Dave, So do you think it gives you a negative outcome because of its accuracy to detail. What i mean is that someone using a csw or a G series for example that cannot replicate the road textures in relation to movement of the wheel. Belt driven over a DD. the case i making is that you are more likely to adjust your speed and brake inputs if you are bouncing around on a track such as Serbring, a belt driven from the lower end will not feel them and be a little smoother and possibly faster.
I've migrated from logitec g29 to simucube 2 ultimate, and after 2-3 hours of driving i was able to improve my laptimes just a bit, 10s of a second. The advantage is that you have more control over the car, it gives you all the details and you can push the car more on the limits, also easier to catch slides etc
I just moved to dd1 and What I noticed is if the ffb is too strong then I am figting to turn and ending up not turning enough. And on big curbs like last chickane on lemans, I struggle because it bounces a lot. So I found that it is better to lower ffb for a level where I can easly do 3h of racing, get more detail and at the end it turns to be faster
@@davecamyt I can see both sides and personally using a CSW 2.5, sometimes when it goes it goes and there is no stopping it. I was on pole last night and lost it just on a curb and sat there in last. Now, maybe if i had a DD base i could have felt the rear left (curb side ) losing traction and countered before it even affected the balance and started its rotation.
These are the type of reviews I like. Don’t get me wrong I like the SRG’s reviews but it’s nice to get away from the technical and get a down to earth sim racers opinion. I still have a few months still to save the $ and make a final decision between the VRS and the SC2 sport but I think I won’t go wrong with either one. Cheers Dave, great review👍
great review, you made my decision, cam fam community league, im coming in hot! haha. i really am looking forward to their pedal set, for the price of the wheel base, im hoping their pedal set they are developing is on par with the sprints. if their price point is a little less as well. ill be sold. IM ON LIST, i have about 80% of the blue tracking bar left, hopefully it will be soon. I have my 49 inch ultrawide showing up next wednesday as well as my new track racer tr8 rig.
Watch all your videos great stuff man keep it up off-topic question is there a way to adjust the brakes on the Mazda 5 cup series cars so they don’t max out and skid, I know it can be done by going in to the computer on other cars and adjusting some file in there I think 7780% is the best but on the Mazda it may not even need that much thanks if you could help I’d appreciate it I tried everything and I can’t seem to figure it out I found the file opened it but it’s just a print out of all the different set ups no active cells to change numbers on thanks Joe RUFFNER PS i’m a beginner and with your help just got my D license just the way you said to do it yeah baby
With the Mazda less is definately more. You never want to brake any more than around 80% and keep out of the abs. Check out Dan Suzuki on RU-vid, he did a great simple video about how to limit your braking force 👍
Decisions decisions... Got the email yesterday from VRS saying I can order. Coincidentally, the Simucube I've had on order for months should be shipping any day. I'd like to try both, but probably not worth throwing money away for the privilege.
Hes got the Heusinkveld Ultimate's for pedals....his wheel on this is the Cube Controls GT USB Wheel and QR Release set, the Wheel Adapter is the add on from VRS as is the Mount
Well done Dave nice review. I have the simcube 2 pro and my ffb I run at 100% and use the sim to control the strength of it . I find it much more informative that way . Give it a go see what you think . I don't use the Auto ffb in iracing with it this way .
@@davecamyt very strange dave, for me it just brings everything alive, iracings own ffb felt numb, with it turned off and foundation on it just came alive.
For long time investment when I build my proper solid rig I want the hulkinfeild pedals , and the bet possiable wheel base to get as close to the real thing as possiable
I'm wondering how realistic this force feed back really is. For example in real WRC car the power steering is so strong that you get no feedback from tyres. That's why drivers are really struggling if the power steering is not working. But I think pretty much all the rally games there are and you are driving WRC car you get feedback to your wheel. Of course on cars with no power steering it's another story.
It's been a while since I've used this base but the Simucube is better than the VRS and I like the Asetek better than the Simucube. That's as close as I can get 😁
I'm nothing to do with Accuforce, but I think you do them a bit of a disservice not pointing out you had the V1 not the V2 - Barry from SRG was a lot happier with the FF from the V2. The V1 is over 5 years old now.
purchased a simagic while I was waiting for my turn with reservations with vrs. Its still in the box and never used. been about 6 weeks, but received an email today saying the vrs is ready for me to purchase but have to do it in the next 48 hrs. Should I sell my simagic and go with vrs?
@@davecamyt other than the hub do I need to purchase anything else to be compatable with most rims? Not sure if im asking the quesrion correctly.. lol. Guess im asking if i need to buy a rim with 70mm pattern or additional adaptor other than the black vrs 70mm pattern hub?
Curious if you were running cloud tuning on the Accuforce. In the forums there are many long-time users who say that has transformed the feel of the wheel. The cloud tuning is the one thing that has me considering the Accuforce V2 vs. the VRS.
The SimCommander Cloud Based Tuning feature has much improved the experience of using my AccuForce wheel base. Having a prepared profile matched to the car/track combo you're driving eliminates the complaint about tweaking the SimCommander software. I've had my AccuForce for over a year and I'm grateful for the Cloud Based Tuning features. I can be less the 'mechanic' and more the 'driver' again.
Oh Dave.. I really had my heart set on getting a accuforce v2, after seeing your review on you v1 it seemed the best choice moving up from the thrusmaster t300rs that I have now.. but now you say this is loads better than your v1.. if your only running it at 47% can you justify spending the extra £800+ for a little bit more road feel?? But on the other hand a want a wheel that's going to last and not need upgraded for a while... Oh I'm struggling to make a decision 😭
It depends what you're in it for i guess. This is my hobby so I don't mind. I used to do Motocross, supermoto which was much more expensive. Plus, a good DD wheel should last year's 👍
@@davecamyt yeah true, I guess it's going to be a one time buy, so I'm probably better off saving the extra £££ and getting a better quality longer lasting wheel 👍🏼
Dave Cam i was reading about it when they announced and some guys said that software is old and it's better to take old simucube for less money because software is let's say equal. Come and try my sc2 pro😜😜😜
@@davecamyt i'm at that horrible point where i'm hoping it's enough of an improvement to warrant the extra cost. As long as its consistent in the feeling from testing to joining a session then it will be a massive improvement, the Simagic can feel pretty good when i'm testing on my own, but when you join a race session it makes a Cup car feel like a 1960's LandRover. Not great for laptimes!
@@SmokingSteelGarage The wheel base doesn't care and doesn't know if you are in a training session or in a race. The issue is more what iRacing is sending to her. Could be you have a problem with the game and not the wheel.
@@Simumyki I absolutely agree with your reply. But having run th VRS for a week now on the same PC setup no issues are arising. So something wasn't right with the Simagic. Guess you get what you pay for.
