I thought of that afterwards. However, the first time I went through the music without the game being bought, I thought "Makes sense why there isn't a 3rd, its the two opposing genres of the game, Tatiana is solely EDM focused unlike the other bosses that had their own genre, then mixed with EDM. I wish it had its own orchestra track tho..." after beating the game, it all made sense to me then.
Doesn't the fight start out in the edm version? I feel like it more reflects the lack of middle ground between the 2 opposing forces. Either edm or rock.
"What do YOU know about rock? I bet you've never even picked up a guitar in your life!" It's one of the first things May says in the game, and Tatiana's reaction to that is some of the most subtle foreshadowing I've seen.
To me, it wasn't *just* the reaction she gave. It's also the fact that, as soon as you say something that assumes that the person you're talking to has never done that thing, chances are... *they've done that thing.*
I mentally slapped myself for not realizing this. On another note, I only realized recently that the crowd gasped when Mayday called NSR a bunch of “wannabe artists”
Yknow what I just noticed: Tatiana mentioned that "Rock is dead" and that the world moved beyond the need for rock, telling Mayday to "stop living in the past". Yknow what other genre people consider old? *Symphony. Classic symphony* Tatiana's theme is a Metal Rock Symphony, a combination of two old genres that Tatiana herself said the world moved past the need for. Both represent two opposite ends of the spectrum with Symphony relying heavily on the cooperation of a large group of musicians led by 1 person who has to make sure everything runs smoothly - or ORDERLY - while rock is considered to be more chaotic and emotional but more so led by the Lead Guitarist simply because they're usually the loudest. Both ends represent Tatiana as a whole, and as much as she tries to run away from her past she's the only one who gets "stuck" in it.
sorry just to clarify: Tati never mentioned that classic symphony itself was old and the world should move past it! I'm saying that the genre itself is considered old nowadays and that not many people care for it which is similar to how Tatianna berates rock for the same reasons!
I think that's why she not publicing herself as an nsr artist. She don't have security cause she don't have concert, she like don't have her own edm style,i think she just hid her music cause it was music from her past. And she's not in the sattelite where only five of them, without counting b2j.She like boss of the elite. But yeah, that's really sad that she was in herself locked inside.Including many things:tower,no fans, loneless, her skin, emotions and grumpiness to rock and everything that it contains.
@@foxmcld584 Makes sense!! And definitely less orchestra in the EDM version too but certainly more mechanical and idk ferocious? Like she was trying REAL hard to move on and be this unyielding leader but her Rock ver ("base" ver) felt the same ferocity but more alive
Tatiana's background and design all paint the picture of an artist unwillingly past their prime, defeated by her own creation (the band splitting after disagreements). Now, she sees the path of rock only leading towards the same painful result, agressively guiding others off that path, acting as the "savior" she wish she had back then. The only irony being that her old self would be just like Mayday, biting the hand that seeks to lead her off that "path of assured destruction".
Are you telling me that Tatiana is a "Lord of Ashes" like Gwin, and May is a New lord?? JUST LIKE DARK SOUL?!?!?. (Just JK, my intrusive thougts win over my will again)
Anybody else hear the tragedy from within the song like Tati is basically saying "I truly loved rock once and I was in your shoes, but between toxic fans and even worse bandmates, my love for it kinda died."? Or is it just me reading into the song too hard?
@@dralliw7790 I mean, she was literally on fire in the past so... lol But yeah knowing her story and playing the game again really tells you that she is just hurt and didn't want a repeat of it.
I think you're pretty much on point, especially with the toxic fans like Kliff. He seemed like a nice guy but he was really some creeper who got so mad when Tatiana finally shook him off, he tricked Mayday and Zuke into being his "instruments" for revenge. He didn't care about bringing change or saving Vinyl City, he just wanted to destroy everything Tatiana and NSR built to get back at her. I'm especially glad she even realized her own mistakes and makes a new start to inspire all kinds of music.
I like how there's no "rock version", because this technically _is_ the rock version. And the reason there's no "neutral" version is because Tatiana doesn't compromise or do half-measures. Its a fight to the death, so to speak, of either rock or EDM. Of course, after the fight you realize there _is_ compromise, but at the point you're fighting her, it doesn't seem like there is any.
I love how this game ends up being a commentary on toxic entitled fans who think artists owe them anything other than appreciation, and that all things in an entertainment medium should cater to only their own interests. -this applies to gamers too btw-
Also includes allegories on the different bosses’ music genres and the toxicity in them too. No one is truly the “good guy” in this game. At least, not until the end
Note how the main version of this track is actually the rock version, not the EDM version, reflecting on who Tatiana really is. I think that's cool. Though Ironically I enjoy the EDM version more XD
The reason why I prefer the EDM versions more is pretty much cuz they are usually more beat'y or like those which have a cool drop on them on certain part, or for example yinu's and Tatiana's edm versions, which have an epic part on them, illustrating the fight if you know what I mean, and in my opinion those work better for EDM, tho I like rock too.
I love how the game shows that both sides aren't completely right. Tatiana allowed her own bias against rock rob the city of an important energy source. Mayday, in contrast, practically did the same thing, just with her bias against EDM. What the revolution should've been about this whole time was fighting for true musical freedom. People may have their likes and dislikes, but those biases should not be the sole judges when it comes to what's more important. P.S.: I may hate Kliff as much as the next guy, but I will admit that he was the wakeup call Vinyl City needed.
You know, now that I think about it. You'd think Mayday being Kul Fyra's biggest fan would know that Kul Fyra's real name is Tatiana, and put two and two together.
Even though I worked out almost straight away her real identity, I loved the way it was revealed during the fight. One of my favourite final bosses now. Also this theme is bloody brilliant!
I worked it out as well that Tatiana is Kul Fyra, but what I didn't see coming was Kliff. I thought he was a former band member of hers that really wanted to get back in touch with her.
Tatiana: why do you think i have her guitar Mayday: cause your her mom Tatiana: no May: her best friend Tati: no May: her babysitter Tati: no May: her sister Tati: no May: her boyfriend? Tati: DO I LOOK LIKE A BOY TO YOU!?
The CEO of NSR, and EDM extraordinaire! "EDM rules this city!" The boss of No Straight Roads has put an iron grip on Vinyl City's music liberties, leaving constant blackouts and artistic pains in their wake. To stop her is to face NSR's megastars. And even if that were done, she won't go down without a fight! As time moves forward, she commands it! She can turn back the clock to her advantage, but this leaves her greatest weakness open. She has quite the emotional baggage from past mistakes, making the cruel commander we see today, and her own past can be kicked up to stop her. But that can only happen if she's not careful, and she is everything but clumsy! Be careful, rockstars, in Vinyl City, her throne is the end of the road!
that was a REALLY GODDLY NARRATION OF DATA, kliff (had he not been a dic* this whole time) should have given us data in a way EXACTLY like this insted of what he does normaly.
@@arturoayala1004 I understand the Kirby Reference to the 2.0, Soul, & Ex Bosses, and i wash they put and Arena/ true Arena mode, they should call it "Remix Rumble" or something like that and have the Mystery person from the far right the last tapestry as the Final boss of the mode, Dk West Doesn't count thought, hes a mini-game more then a boss.
Damn it, this fight would have been so cool if the player was actually told how it works aside from "use key". I seriously thought it had just bugged out, and that the yellow glowy thing was just for building up melee hits
I know in the newer builds of the game (ps4 and PC) there's a message on the side that tells you what to do. But yeah, my brother and I were confused about this fight too. We made it to the third phase the first time, died, and quit for the day. The next day we've been stuck on the first phase for like half an hour wondering if the game broke, or we were doing something wrong because we swore we at least reached the second phase last session.
Phase timestamps for anyone that wants them 0:00 Phase One (No combat transition) 1:12 Phase Two (1:33 combat transition) 2:16 Phase Three (2:59 combat transition) 4:08 Phase Four (4:40 combat transition) 5:18-5:59 Climax (What I thought was the section exclusively for the Showstopper is actually able to be heard during the main fight, with Tatiana unleashing an insta-kill attack at the end of the riff from 5:39-5:59) 6:00-6:22 Post-fight cutscene, ending with her faceplanting after the crown blows up
This music just radiates boss fight energy. Even if someone didn't know who Tatiana was, just off the music alone they'd probably be able to guess final boss. I actually had my brother listen to it and he drew the same conclusion
The time reversal mechanic was so trippy. I was sure that my game just bugged the first time it happened and I groaned. And then it happened again… and again… and again. And then I realized that we were fighting on a giant fucking clock, and I figured it out through brute reasoning. So freaking cool.
I feel like this game has more to do with the entertainment industry than with toxic/entitled fans. In the beginning we see how NSR presents itself as a place where an artist can reach their full potential, but it's quickly contradicted by the antagonists' actions, as they seem to have already made up their minds before Mayday and Zuke even preformed. They have a narrow view what artist should be putting. Tatiana surrounds herself with members that have the same view point as her towards rock putting herself in a bubble where no other ideas are allowed. Their decision to reject Mayday and Zuke has nothing to do with creativity, artistic liberty, or even music... it's all about politics. The difference in genre almost seems tribal in this game as NSR's fans are violet enough to torch Zuke's brother's van they of course didn't care as West wasn't just competition, but a threat to their way of life. Their fans are pretty much blind followers, fanboys if you will, they seem to praise them no matter what they do even when their entire city is left in literal darkness while NSR is too concern with trying to make themselves look good. At this point they're not even producing music it's all just propaganda now. Los Angeles a.k.a Hollywood is a prime example of this, for a place where you're supposed to feel free to express yourself, Hollywood is nothing more than a strict establishment, and if you step out of line prepare to be blacklisted or worse. Politics is ruining how we create art.
Zuke🥁 - “There’s only one to end this.” Mayday🎸 - “Let’s bring back the glory of rock!” Mayday🎸 - “Red light!” Zuke🥁 - “Green light!” Mayday and Zuke🎸🥁 - “Bunka, Junka, Shakalaka, BAM!”
Don't know if anyone will ever see this, but here's my own personal theory on what genre "???" is: Among more clearly EDM genres like "Discotech", "Cutecore", and "Funky House", YINU stands out for being "Neoclassical". While her mother's presence adds dubstep elements, I sense Sold Out took liberties with what genres are considered EDM. I was trying to figure out which genre Tatiana fit into, with the heavy orchestral instruments that aren't used in quite the same as neoclassical - it's a genre I like even more. Storywise, I like No Straight Roads because it's not as clear cut as fascism vs. freedom, especially as Tatiana has her big speech about the future. It is, in fact, a very progressive speech, just not in a way Americans are used to hearing. But that's the key to my theory. When I put her ideology in front of her past career, I think it spells the genre she uses: Progressive metal.
@@frederickjason2964 as many as he thinks he needs to make himself think people see him as a majority instead of some entitled little bottle of toxicity
If the discourse surrounding this game has taught me anything, it’s that the “all fandoms and the people in them are toxic and bad” crowd is just as obnoxious and awful as said toxic fans, and even they only make up a vocal minority of their larger fan communities. Seemingly, this game has no true antagonist and both sides have decent points, but some people twisted the message of the game into “fandoms bad” to fill in the blank with whatever group some Twitter rando who pissed them off belongs to, complete with the smug nail-polishing emoji. The only thing that’s ever gotten in the way of me enjoying something is not fandoms, but people constantly saying how terrible fandoms are because they hyper focus on vocal minorities instead of telling them to piss off, or just ignoring them,
Yes, I agree, militant fanboys are just as obnoxious as militant haters. I understand the passion is there, but it shouldn't result in people holding any rancor towards each other.
2:17 Tatiana: Listen to the symphony, the music of the past Telling you rock and roll was never meant to last You are past your prime, we're getting with the times Time moves ever forward! So down this road we go for the power Pushed by the clock of the hours Never thought that you'd get this far On your path of rage against NSR You think you're the hero? I see the fool You will never know what it takes to rule Mayday and Zuke: The people know what's good for them And it's the fall of EDM! We'll show them all your major malfunction We are Bunk Bed Junction! *Both*: We need disorder (We need this order) To break down the borders (To hold up the borders) 'Cause history records What this chaos will bring Cheers of the masses Leave embers and ashes The music that passes Will run everything Lyrics by Man on the Internet's Songtober Event
Anyone else think this song would go well in Smash Bros? I mean, obviously if Bunk Bed Junction become fighters in it. I feel they would work well...and this music at the end of their Classic Mode would be awesome.
Yeah, the problem is characters that appear in Smash Bros have a great relevance in videogame history, let's wait for 2 years and see how it's popularity evolves...
@@wobbuffett2706 Fair enough. :) I doubt they would be even considered, even in future games, but I was just saying this would really fit well if it did happen.
This track is oh so frickin sweet. There's another dude who spliced together Mayday's guitar battle solo with the rock version and it absolutely dominates
Why do I feel like Tatiana thinks she's not wanted/needed around anymore? Think about it. She mentions rock being old and outdated. What if that's just her projecting what she thinks everyone thinks about her onto rock? 😢 Poor Tatiana...
I fell through the floor for no apparent reason, and began to fall indefinitely, with no way of damaging Tatiana to progress, and wasn't even sent back up to the battlefield when she started a cutscene, forcing me to reset and endure the long elevator speech all over again.
I've had a couple issues like that in the game. It happened on the 1010 fight for me, and somehow I got outside of DJ Sub's attack where he puts you on a platform and throws planets. I think it's a glitch with the character swapping system, especially if you do it during transitions.
I just have to say, I love how everyone's got the soulless dot eyes except for Sayu. Sayu's my favorite artist of the entire cast, so I love that detail
2:18 the best guitar and drum duo part ever! It gets the blood pumping when fighting with rock and EDM (even going against EDM but that's ok) If mario and I played against a boss like bowser with this music then I would put this in. Its soooooo good!
While I was fighting Tatiana for the first time, so as I was about to beat her but all of a damn sudden, No Straight Roads crashed on my Windows 11, which lead me to getting so pissed off that I didn't even try playing No Straight Roads for like half a month due to that
Tatiana: i see you come up here to fight me Me:YES AND I WILL NOT LOSE TO YOU! ONCE I DEFEATED YOU I'LL BRING ROCK BACK FOR MY WORLD (Finished) Me: EVERYONE LET'S SHOW HER ROCK WILL NEVER LOSE Me and slime: BIG BANG ROCK
Vs Tatiana Spirit ★★★★ Legend Fighter: Female Corrin (If DLC allowed: Sephiroth) Stage: Kalos Pokemon League (Can only change from Neutral to Fire variant and back) Items: Timer Conditions: ·The enemy starts the battle with a killing edge ·The enemy favors neutral specials ·The enemy has increased attack power
You too wouldn't be surprised if you had to fight a black hole man, digital mermaid idol, 100 foot monster mother and small piano child, pretty robot pop band and their cyborg leader, an artist that can literally twist your entire F**KING reality!
This had to be inspired by the 4th Jojo opening, End of the World, just a little bit. It's too much of a coincidence some of the musical lemotifs used.
In my opinion, this kind of sounds like a theme for a boss you reach at the end of a level. Like MegaMan, for instance. It would've been neat if each boss had their perspective levels with their original boss music as the background music. I mean, Sayu's entire "boss" fight basically could've been her stage. And once it's time to fight her, this theme would play. And vice versa for every other boss. Tatiana would get a more Final Boss sounding theme cos as awesome as this sounds, it doesn't really give off a final boss vibe. It's still freaking amazing along with the EDM version. 🤩
