A lot of people already have their minds made up about this rifle, and to be honest, I did to before having the opportunity to test one. It has been a very solid rifle through 4,000 rounds now and I don’t see anything changing in the next 1,000, but we will find out for sure!

"Free to live in your own ignorance as much as you'd like." I love this statement. I've joined up with quite a lot of AK groups on social media and you're right, the hatred is real, it has no empirical data on its side, and if you ask for reasons, you get laughing emojis. The problem I have with it is with the times as they are, new shooters are looking for a place to belong, and in a lot of AK communities, because of the rifle they own, they're going to get laughed off the platform. I'm thankful for all of you AK enthusiasts who welcome in these types and are for the growth of our community. For the haters, I'm glad they like their expensive imports, I hope that continues, but they are utterly useless in helping to build a stronger 2A community and fighting for our rights to bear arms.

I didn’t even realize there was an issue with this rifle. Have 1500rds through mine and have had no problems. I was surprised to learn it was an all American made AK. I bought this because I liked the way it looked and loved the wood. I didn’t want a AR15 stock or other AR15 accessories on it. You see that a lot around here. I wanted just a plain traditional AK. So far so good. Excellent video!

Glad to see an unbiased review. I’m 100% combloc and do not own a century made product, but I’d like to see them succeed to keep pricing fair and get more people into the AK platform. The Internet parrots are in full swing though.
@OreGear

Comblocs are still my favorite overall. I love my Arsenals, but like you said, we need good domestic options to help get people in and also keep a steady supply of AKs if there’s any more import bans.

Boringly reliable is what I look for in a gun, especially a potential truck gun/hog hunting gun of which 7.62x39 does quite well on Texas wild boars.

Great video. About two weeks ago I purchased a Century Arms VSKA also. The only problem I have with the VSKS is there is no side rail. I love AK’s but believe the deserve a side mount if you are going to shoot beyond 300 meters. Based on that I am having my gunsmith put one on as I write this. I also purchased a Troy Industry railed gas tube to put on a light or laser. I think I made a reasonable purchase based on your video and the various VSKA videos by the AK Operators Union. I thank you again for your time and effort.

I like mine. I have AR 7.62x39 and they are much more accurate than their Soviet counterpart. Mine came with the red furniture, or rather it was suppose to be red, but it was more pink than anything, so I painted it FDE. Now I like it better.

My first AK ever was an arsenal which I loved and beat to what would have meant a normal firearm “death”. Picked up a limited edition vska tactical trooper (century is vague with limited editions) and it functions amazing, I have less wear on it than I did my arsenal Sam7k at the same round count. It seems to me that ak’s unless they’re built entirely dog shit then even those deemed the worst still may have a shot at being good. My vska is great so far. I’m a huge arsenal fan and look for combloc any chance I get but so far I’m happy with century on my vska. Runs fine with magpul mags and the Romanian drum it came with, the palm mag works good as well. It’s a fine ak that works. If by some chance it shits the bed I’ll definitely voice what goes wrong, hell I voice my opinion when a fast food restaurant fucks up my order

As far as deformation within the first couple thousand rounds, the rifle is finding it's groove. If it continues to get worse, then you'll have something to worry about. It's like your drivers seat. It's gotta break in before it gets comfortable. I've had a VSKA for almost a year now, ran ~6,500 rounds and she's still strong. Small bites in the trunnion and bolt carrier, but that's to be expected. Maintains headspace, and only a handful of failure to feeds while using Brown Bear 123 grain FMJ. Ass round, honestly lmao

I just got mine recently and I haven't been able to get it out to the range on account of not being able to find brass ammo(my closest range doesn't allow steel case). It's worth noting that mine came with a side optics mount right out of the box and it's also got the front sight mounted to the gas block. I'm not sure if the gun shop did this or if that's how CA is putting them out now. Still, I'm looking forward to breaking it in and thanks for this great vid!

I would pay attention to the stock as mine got wobbly pretty quickly. Also to point out the bolt, one of the lugs gets peened that it has a lip on it. This was pointed out in Robski’s 5,000 End Game test. It did not progress but it’s just something to keep an eye on. Also those little peened spots on the sides of the bolt carrier are uniform, they have equal wear on either side and mine look similar as well. The right trunions showed some wear as if the metal is rising up and gets folded over on itself so I’d keep an eye on that right trunnion. Can’t wait for the 5,000 round review! Send it!

Just make it work for what you get out of it. Whether or not Century truly has an issue with these VSKA's is still to be determined. Any real research into Ak failures will result in a wide range of issues just like any other weapon system (brands, parts, etc.). Their track record/history is what most negative commentators base their evaluations off of and I bet some of those same people are the ones who bought late 90s early 2000s 4 banger mustangs thinking they were getting into something worth while. We all learn from previous experiences but if Century is taking this rifle serious enough to have a lifetime warranty they 1) found a manufacturing system that works and is consistent enough to have such a warranty ($$$) 2) taught themselves from previous issues (otherwise they'd still be pushing the c39 and ras47 etc). 3) opened their doors to skepticism/critique from the community (ISO9001 certification ain't something you do unless you truly can perform). All 3 are worth the investment on the consumers end to give this product a try. Are their better options out there? Of course. But seeing video after video of people putting thousands of rounds through these rifles definitely beats any comment of someone who heard from a guy who knows a guy who apparently had some catastrophic failure. I am only seeing two tests so far that have been negative and one is still up to be determined whether or not it was a manufacturing error on the side of CA or if it was an ammo issue (squib load/bullet stuck in chamber). AKG, Definitive Arms, Rifle Dynamics I would own in an instant if given the loot but making this rifle into a true runner...I honestly believe is possible and without regret.
