VSKA 5,000 Round Review 

Wow... Finally.. somebody who actually knows his stuff. I've been trying to tell people exactly what you say in this video.. people are too brainwashed to objectively review this rife. I own 4 very expensive AK's, and I have to say my vska is holding it's own, I'm extremely happy with this rifle. If people would quit bashing it, it would grow in popularity, which would open up the market to make aftermarket upgrades! This is the start of something truly good, yet people just talking shit is holding it back from it's full potential.

I am extremely happy with my VSKA. No issues whatsoever! My philosophy is if you are bashing this rifle, you don't own one!

I posted on reddit whether or not i got a decent AK as i got the VSKA they completely tore me a new asshole for getting this rifle, saying it was a shit rifle so i got a little piece of mind knowing this rifle is a matter of fact is a decent buy. Thanks for this.

I bought a VSKA on an impulse when I saw a limited edition at the local rural king. I’ve been very happy with the rifle thus far, though I did replace the furniture.

I like my VSKA. It's a quality solid rifle.

I thought it was hilarious the way you trolled an AK page with the bolt. That’s the AK community for you! Back in ‘16 I got a Century C39v2 and soon after tried to join an AK page on FB. Initially they let me in but as soon as I mentioned that my AK was a C39v2, they kicked me off. I later joined a group dedicated to American-made AKs, and people would constantly come on to comment about how all American AKs are shit. That said, admittedly, my C39v2 was early production for the type and did have issues with the durability of the internals. I customized it with an East German recoil spring assembly, an East German bolt carrier, and a succession of surplus Combloc bolts (two East German and a Russian) but the headspace kept opening up. So finally I got a new build “virgin” WBP Polish bolt and had it fitted by a gunsmith, and it is holding up so far. Won’t pass a no-go gauge but it still passes a field gauge after 1200 rounds so it still has some life left in it; still a good accurate shooter. Later got a Zastava M70 so I don’t worry anymore anyway, but it looks like with the VSKA and even better, the BFT47, Century had learned it’s lessons. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from buying one. The 4150 CMV barrels may not be cold hammer forged like on the Combloc AKs but they’re as good as any barrel you’d find on an AR, and the Century RAK-1 trigger is the best out of the box OEM AK trigger on the market, from any source. Love my Zastava but I’ll readily admit that the trigger on my C39v2 is better. There are no bigger snobs in the firearms community than AK snobs. That is the plain truth.

I’m really happy about how well vska feeds ammo from different mags. I shot a Riley defense before and it had issues regarding that. So if you’re looking for good mags for the vska, everything should work fine. I’ve used magpul, Tapco, Palm mag and metal mags from Croatia.

I appreciate that experiment you reported about. The online communities are terrible echo chambers.

I know this is an old video but I was just looking at reviews while I wait for my 10 day wait period to pick mine up. Just wanted to point out that the one I have purchased comes with the optics rail installed. So that seems to be an option now. I have heard that all American aks are trash so it's good to see so many good reviews on RU-vid. Thank you

Bought mine about two month's ago and I love it.

After 390 rounds no misfeeds or malfunctions at all. 150 rounds worth of mag dumps. Very nice shooter.

Great Video. I cant help but laugh that you gave a shout out to all the Century hating trolls with that same bolt posted as a vska & wasr and getting two totally different reactions. Its sad but so funny at the same time! Solid review, keep it up. Be honest and you will have a solid base of followers. Just be ready for the trolls to be all over you.

It’s crazy how everyone on the AK-47 reddit hates on the vska like it’s the ras-47 and go straight to sucking off zastava, my black polymer vska has around 1,500rounds through it no problems at all also really accurate once you zero the iron sights. Obviously Century Arms deserves all the shit they got in the past for cast trunnions but you gotta recognize there doing a good job with the vska all these 5000 round pass tests are showing it

I'm glad we finally got past the part about the cleaning rod the least important thing the most important thing is for a factory gun to have the ability so you can decide how you want to mount your optic it's an option! One that should definitely a 100% come on this rifle there are other ways to attach an optic but it should be there. Personally when it comes to in AKI like to get the most affordable version with the least amount a furniture on it so I ended up with the Romanian one that comes with no furniture at all I put my own furniture on their I put my own trigger in and my own optic mounting option although it does have a side rail and it works really well!. The VISKA looks like a good starting point throw on a Texas dog leg or another option and you've got your optic throw in a trigger you got your trigger put on your own furniture and you've got your furniture comes in way less than the very expensive AK s that you can get and I bet you it's every bit as good or even better because you've customized it!

I'm really liking my VSKA. All the wood on mine came very tight but a horrible light brown color. Basic rifle so I didn't mind painting it.

What sight and adapter did you use on your vska I need to know 😂

I have faith with US Manufactures. On 47 BFT Century gives everything to shooters and I just pick one up to have fun at the range and also for hunting. Thanks for sharing.

Century arms is trying with the vska I'll give them that! There like Taurus at first they weren't all that great but then they got better!

I put 5,000 rounds through mine and notice some peening on the top locking lug of the bolt. I notified Century Arms and sent it back to them for inspection. Now Century Arms is sending me a new rifle. Interesting. Had a few squib loads and the furniture on the gas tube & foregrip is wobbly after a 1,000 rounds. The stock was wobbly after 700 but no crack. Slight peening on the end of the bolt carrier as well as a polishing wear on right trunnion.

Most accurate ak you own. Holding up extremely well after 5k rnds. So why still take your other aks over it.

Sounds like you got a good VSKA. With Century Arms the QC is hit or miss. I don't want to spend $700 hoping I get one that was made well. I have a VSKA and I think it's fine for my purposes. However, I prefer my Palmetto State Armory GF3, GF5, 101 and 103. I trust PSA more with their QC and the hammer forged, machined steel they use as opposed to S7 steel. S7 steel was simply a BS marketing ploy for Century to save money on a less expensive steel compared with hammer forged / machined steel while they tried to sell us on the "yeah, but S7 steel is used in jack hammer bits and excavator teeth." Well, no other company has started making rifles with S7 steel since the VSKA so it must not have been that great. VSKA is fun to shoot. I prefer PSA for QC, their mission to provide small arms to every American affordably and their continued desire to expand and grow as a company

bought a poly stock VSKA... first day, swapped it out for an old wood stock from a kit I had laying around.

However I will add, I have dealt with various steels and their best application as a tool and die maker for 45 years...I will say that the front trunnion steel is made from S-7 a shock steel, and it's a good steel for a lot of shock applications...however would it be the best in the front trunnion situation? Maybe not...probably I would seek a steel like they used in the M1 Garand and the M14s...millions of recievers and bolts were made from 8620

VSKA is a fine rifle, but ditch the wood. I wanted to do a "Russian alpha team" build, and the VSKA was just laying around doin' nothing... Ordered Zenitco gear fore n aft, come to find out the VSKA was beefier than standard AKM's; barrel, front trunnion. Good thing I know a great gunsmith 😎

Love my VSKA too!! Go with the Midwest Industries side mount and be sure to use RED locktite for the allen screws. Only RED will hold up. Other than that its my home "night watchman"!!

Much like the last video on the VSKA you posted this really is showing a lot of promise. I too have started to notice things like that picture... you tell people it's one thing and they react totally differently. Now I will say, some of those older Century AK's did have some bad QC and there was enough documentation to back it up. That said, this rifle is not the case. I still see tons of people reviewing the VSKA and people saying dumb stuff like it's some cherry picked T/E gun Century sends around. Even Rob Ski seems to be very enthusiastic about the VSKA for the most part and I know people value his opinion on AK rifles.

I got a question ive been searching for hours for on the internet with no luck, no pics, no nothing. Can somebody pls answer my question.. im desperate at this point.. I also have a VSKA, is it normal for my bolt carrier to have some excessive wear on the side (shiny spot) but today during cleaning i noticed a small indentation almost like a very very small chip of metal missing like a small divit u can barely tell unless u run your finger over it and even then its hard to tell.. is this a defective part? Or is this normal? Shoots fine. Never jams. Mag dumps reliably. Mind u, I only have about at most 180 rounds through the rifle

Have one coming from Century Arms as a replacement for a second c39v2 they replaced....both c39v2s had the same failure....hoping the VSKA is good...have seem mostly good reviews...saw a bad one today maybe Yeager...1200 round failure

MAC and ak union both got cracked rightside trunnions because the left side bolt and left trunnion wasn't actually locking into the receiver.

What are you using to mount the sight you’re using in the clips of you shooting?

My VSKA has the exact same wobble in the gas tube cover...hell its even the same shade of wood as yours. But yea right out of the box the top wood cover rattled like hell 🤔🤷‍♂️

Got mine last Friday, put 100 rounds through it and it was great. What muzzle break do you have on yours? I want to change mine out. I’m also considering putting a stronger recoil spring on it to cut down on recoil. Think that’s a good idea too??

Does anyone know the estimated MOA for the Vska specifically? I’ve seen videos of guys keeping 3moa groups out to 300yrds but they were using imported AKs. I’ve got a Vska TRP and wanted to know what the expectations are for farther distances, haven’t had a chance to try and stretch it yet for myself

Informative video. Nice job. At the 6:12 mark you mention your side rail. Can you tell me the name/type (Comblock, Russian Standard, some other ?) of side rail you had your gunsmith install ? I have a newer VSKA (Russian Red) and am having a hard time locating a side rail. Thank you.

Why do you put an optic on an AK? You can make great hits with the weapon without using optics. Trying to make the platform into something it isn't?

My son Just bought a Thunder Ranch VSKA AK. Turns out Century Arms is still a Garbage Gun Maker! 15 years ago I bought a Century wsar10 ...Sights were almost as crooked as the rivets....a few year latter i bought an RPK ... a bigger version of the first AK...fast forward 12 years and the sights are straight but the rifle wont even work. My son tried to load a round and the action jammed without firing a single round. Took off the Dust cover and removed the spring , Needed a mallet to get the action open, What we found was a scratched shell and even worse a nice impact on the primer with no trigger pull. He is trying to get it back to them but they don't want to answer phones and has to resort to Email. Point is RU-vidrs Get cherry guns to review .... You and I get Garbage guns to buy! I suggest You pass on any gun made by Century Arms. 3 rifles over 15 years, each and every one was crap!
