Thanks, David, for your detailed review. I'm a proud owner of the VSL CFX and D274 full libraries; I like them both, and I use them for different purposes (Yamaha for jazzy styles or Bach, D274 for Chopin-ish or Rachmaninov pieces). After fine tuning these last 7 months, I have realized there is some lack of uniformity in the tone of some keys when playing the D274, and after reading some posts in the VSL forum I wonder if they will update and correct them. Also, I will explore the brand new Fazioli as soon as it fits in my budget. It's a pity that VSL is no longer offering free trials, they were so useful for me in the past. So, again, thank you very much for your video.
Hi Rafael, sometimes VSL runs sales in the spring. Keep and eye out for their next promotion. Demo licensing is the best, but at the very least you'll have two weeks (with their return policy) to experiment.
You have done a great work with this piano. I know you were not too happy with it at the beginning, but kept working on it. Now I am happier to have bought it when it was released 👍😄
Thanks Jose. You're right, when it first came out I really didn't have much time to spend with it because we had just moved into a new place. However, now that I've been playing it for over a month it's hard to go back to their other pianos because they lack (to my ears) the warmth, clarity, and evenness of tone that the F308 has.
Sound better here, than default presets :) great work - i use always the Ribbon but with Condenser. Anyway. I still prefer the D-274, but you make the Fazioli good :)
Really appreciate you going through this. I was pleasantly surprised at how crystal clean the upper registry sounded. Very impressive sampling. Out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to find a good setting on your sound? From my headphones it sounded great!
Hi Frank. I've been using it for a little over a month now and I'd say it took a few weeks of tinkering to find the right velocity and touch setting with my Yamaha N1X. Thankfully, the default preset didn't need much adjusting to get the sound I was after.
I've also purchased this product and I'd like to ask if you've noticed any lack of dynamics in the F#3 note. In my case, the F#3 seems to have less maximum volume compared to other keys, and I was wondering if you've encountered a similar situation.
Do you share your settings? The piano sounds good, but i dont k ow if i have it in me to adjust all those parameters. I did lower the volume on a few notes, and then i thought to myself, maybe i should just play the stock sounds on my digital pianos lol.
The piano sound comes from recorded samples of a Fazioli concert grand. Vienna Symphonic Library owns the piano and offers it as a virtual library along with other concert grands like Steinway and Bosendorfer.
That's a good question. I like to wear headphones when I record because it feels like I have better control over the dynamics. However, for everyday playing I listen through the N1X speakers.
Hi, Great playing and review, how did you get 10.08GB of samples/165090 samples , i get only 1.89gb/165090 samples , with your settings with full version ? thanks
Hi, i have figured this out, you are right + you set how many samples are preloaded in settings, but it seems to be unplayable on 10gb, what computer specs are you using, do you have it set as separate slave pc for instrument? Thanks again, i got demo from vsl so trying to test, my pc is 32gb ram, ryzen 5 3600, ssd p3 plus 4gb mortar max with geforce 6gb, external motu ultralite mk4
Hi, the Yamaha N1X has a USB audio interface built in. I connect to that. Otherwise you'd have to use an external USB interface like a Scarlett 2i2 or something similar.
Hi Dave, I am fortunate to own a N1X as well. The binaural Headphone sound Yamaha CFX Grand setting 1 is just fantastic, I don't need anything else (I am an intermediate blues player), I can go with this the whole day long and am inspired. When I want to play for friends, I need the speakers...and well, I am not happy. So I listend to you and just bought the Fazioli Standard VSL. I now realise that I do not have the extended microphones that you post, you must have the full version, and yours sounds very very good indeed. Mine, well, no, I am not happy. How would yours sound with the Standard mics (Room, Condenser, Mid1, Main, Main)? Can you still make it sound good? Problem is I bought a new laptop to run this thing, a fast one with a 512 SSD drive, which is unfortunately is too small for a full Fazioli install! I hope I can improve the sound by adjusting some settings. Main one would be the velocity curve for my N1X, but I do not know how to do that - any pointers (or even better, one can save an adjusted velocity curve, and maybe even post it?) What else? I am really in a pickle here, any help would be appreciated. Do I really have to go to buy extra memory and the full licence?@@Comfort_One_Another
@@bho4068Just run and buy extra SSD M.2 NVME memory. Its getting cheaper these days. My laptop came with 256Gb and now has 6000gb. You can also upgrade the ram to 64gb or more. For many plugins out there for PC you are going to need it because you need to use the RAM below 70% or else the plugins will stall. Just go to a shop and ask them to clone your SSD and add another to the second slot. Gaming laptops are upgradeable. Remember to replace thermal paste when its dry and dead and clean the cooler fans! HW Monitor software to check all temperatures inside laptop. If you don't know how to do all this, ask for tech services. Crucial Memories for PC know more about your pc than the Computer Brands!!! My HP Omen user manual said mine could only take 32Gb ram and I ended up spending twice to get also the 64gb. For stability they said. Thats BS. Its super stable for more than 2 years now with the 64gb ram. HP wants to sell computers. Crucial wants to sell SSD and RAM memories and they test and know which brand and model can take what. Just contact them or go to Crucial website. Input your computer model and brand and start upgrading it. Be aware that if you use many mic positions on the VSL FAZIOLI your CPU fans will start to run fast and noise its noticeable. Good luck! 🙏
@@bho4068 Hi. Sorry you're not enjoying the F308. I do have the full version and the preset I'm using does not include the Condenser Close microphone. Unfortunately, in the standard version the Condenser Microphone is all you have for close mics. Personally, I don't think I could be happy with only the standard version since the condenser is my least favorite close mic in this particular library. You could try the full library and get a refund within a couple weeks if you don't think it's worth the extra cost. As for SSD space, you could also add a fast external SSD drive for more space if you need it. I run some of my VSL libraries off of a Glyph 1TB thunderbolt drive. It works great. You don't even need a thunderbolt drive. You can get a slower SSD drive and it will still work great especially now that VSL is Apple Silicone compliant.
Hi Dave, I am trying to get me details to you but I think RU-vid deletes these things...so here I am trying again, a bit in code: it is hochstrasser (which is my name), then the swiggle, then btopenworld then a dot and then the C and O an M.
