Defunctland is one of the best channels on RU-vid. Every video is meticulously researched and given passion. The Disney Channel is his best one. I’d save that one for last if you want to watch more.

In my younger days I've been to Action Park about 4 times. We called it accident park and for good reason. Either you became aware of your surroundings and dangers or you will get hurt. It was an amazing place. You want to jump off 30 foot cliffs into ponds of water? sure. You want to glide 25 mph down a mountain luge? yep. Want to drive a gas powered metal tank in the hot sun and fire tennis balls at others? The place had that too. My favorite was the water jungle gym. It had wood bridges and rope swings in a playground like area all covered in water. On the side there were water cannons that you can shoot other people with. I will never forget the time I met a 30 year old guy and his GF. He took the harder slide down the mountain. I took the middle along with her. She got in my way so I jumped out, grabbed my sled, and carried it past her slow self. Turns out he had trouble too, as down at the bottom he must have slipped out. He was covered head to toe in red cuts and bruises. If there was ever a place that was the epitome of "remove the warning labels and let the stupid sort themselves out" it was the glorious Action Park.

I'm from NJ, and I regret not being born at a time when this place was around. By all accounts it really was a rite of passage, you GOT to say you broke your arm at Action Park, yeah, that's right, we go hard here in Jersey, git gud Florida.

An important detail of WHY the workers got up to this stuff: I'm told the park was a good place to buy not just alcohol but drugs. Employees might be high both off and on duty, and generally had the attitude that "management wants this place as exciting as possible". This also meant that when, entirely on their own, kids also found more dangerous ways to enjoy the park, employees accepted this is now what kids come here to do.

My dad went to action park, a lot is still there. I went to the new park a few times. It was a right of passage for people from NJ.

The 80s were the greatest time to be a teenager in the US. No other era comes close. I was born in 1987 so my teenage years were post 9/11. The 90s were still good though.

If you want to go to a good Water Park, the Wisconsin Dells have a plethora of options. My state doesn't claim the title of "Water Park capital of the US" for nothing.

The slide decapitation is often attributed to Action Park, but it actually happened on a slide called the Verruckt in the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas. Worst part was the person who got his head cut off on it was a ten year old boy. His smaller size and lighter weight made him fly up higher than bigger people, and caught his head on the netting over the top that was meant to prevent people from falling out of the slide.

For water parks, I advise Florida's Aquatica in Orlando (which is near a ton of other amusement parks in Orlando, so more options for your trip) or Adventure Island in Tampa, which is cheaper.

There is a series that defuncland made about the creator of the muppets the name is escaping my thought. But you should watch that series it's one of the best on youtube as a whole

About how far is a car ride for you? Where I am from a Day Trip (go there spend about 6 hours and then back) is about 200 miles or about 320 km.

We had the fear of the Cold War going hot, we had deregulation, drugs, and corporations undergoing a fundamental shift to their modern mindset of "raising the share price is top priority, to the exclusion of any other factors." One could make an argument that for all the cool stuff it gave us, it is the decade where America went wrong.

it kinda depends on the situation on whether fresh water is harder to swim in then salt water yes your more buoyant in salt water but the only salt water people really swim in in ocean water and waves and currents make it extremely hard to swim so if your legit swimming and not just like waste deep on the beach salt water is harder
