Love how the Skaven are the ones who brought down the golden age of the Dwarves and nearly destroyed the entire planet in ancient times, simply because they built a thing (the first Doomsphere) and wanted to know what it does, and in typical Skaven fashion it exploded with disastrous consequences. But even more hillarious is that it was this first happy “accident” in the Skavens history that had them decide to live below ground, expand and breed like only Skaven could, so no single disaster could ever spell extinction for the Skaven ever again (at the time they were all living in a single location, Skavenblight)

Ogres are actually interesting because, much like the Dwarves and Lizardmen, the Ogres were expressly designed by the Old Ones to be tools against Chaos. The theory goes that while the Dwarves were designed to be magically inert and be slow to change both physically and psychologically, and the Lizardmen were basically biological machines that lacked the necessary ego to fall to Chaos, the Ogres were an attempt to create a race that would be incapable of being corrupted by Chaos, a physical powerhouse able to survive off of damn near any food source, AND be able to utilize magic that couldn't be corrupted by Chaos without sacrificing their ability to innovate and learn. In short, the Old Ones were trying to recreate the Orcs and remove some of their negative traits, as Orcs were an alien race that the Old Ones accidentally brought to the Warhammer Fantasy world instead of a deliberate creation of the Old Ones like they were in Warhammer 40k. And in many ways, they succeeded beyond their wildest expectations. The Ogres were monstrous physical powerhouses capable of fighting even the strongest creatures of the Warhammer Fantasy world, they could survive off basically any form of organic matter, they possessed an ability to learn and adapt extremely rapidly while being simple-minded enough to be virtually incorruptible by Chaos AND still had access to a unique brand of food-based magic that the Ogres refer to as Gut Magic or Gastromancy. The only problem was that the Ogres possessed incredible appetites and required large amounts of food, and so the Old Ones gave them a land of open plains and steppes filled with mega-fauna to eat while they worked on the Ogres. Then things went tits up and the polar Warp Gates collapsed. While the Ogres survived the resulting Storm of Chaos, the Old Ones left before they were able to finish their work, and so the Ogres began to overpopulate the lands that had been set aside for them and started ranging afar into Cathay, where they ran into the Dragon Emperor and promptly managed to piss him off SOMEHOW, which ended in the Dragon Emperor using his court of Celestial Wizards to pluck a huge meteor out of space and launch it straight into the heart of the Ogres' territory, wiping out most of the Ogre population and killing virtually all of the mega-fauna that the Ogres relied upon for sustenance, causing the surviving Ogres to begin starving and be forced into cannibalism. AND THEN IT GOT WORSE. Whatever the Dragon Emperor hurled at the Ogres resonated with them, and the incidental sacrifice of thousands, if not millions of Ogres empowered this being into something akin to a living god. And just like the Ogres, this thing was HUNGRY, and that shared want for sustenance caused this eldritch god-thing to latch on to the Ogres, condemning them to an eternity of ravenous hunger that can never be fully sated. This God of Hunger is called the Great Maw, and the Ogres constantly feel it whispering in the back of their minds, always demanding that the Ogres feed it more and more food. It also calls to the Ogres, often compelling them to undertake pilgrimages into the magically irradiated wastelands where the Great Maw actually is, and the call is so strong that many Ogres who get too close throw themselves into the Great Maw. For added horror, the Great Maw has actually tunneled straight through the entire planet to the other side of the Warhammer Fantasy world, creating something called the Galleon's Graveyard, a yawning abyss at the bottom of the ocean that opens ane draws all of dead things in the seas of the Warhammer Fantasy world to it, swallowing them and vomitting millions of gallons of seawater back out like it's bloody Charybdis. So par for the course really.

Book of Choyer has great narration. A good way of thinking about the Great Vortex is like the bathtub drain that prevents overflow. Wood Elves were High Elves at one point but after the WAR OF VENGEANCE (only the elves call it the war of the beard) against the Dwarfs they were ones that stayed behind because the forest was cool. dwarf women yes they exist and most of the time they dont have beards but rather long braids of hair "The Dwarfs are fundamentally a patriarchal race. This is due in no small part to the fact that in every generation of Dwarfs, only a small minority are female, a ratio of around one or two girls in every ten Dwarf births. Dwarf women live longer than the men, on average up to fifty years longer. There are even records of female Living Ancestors, known as the Daughters of Valaya. The bulk of daily work and craft is undertaken by male Dwarfs, while Dwarf women tend to the raising of the children and the running of the household -- much like in the Empire of Man." there is also the "gartering of the girth" that a dwarf male has to perform before he is allowed to marry a female, he has to be able to wrap his beard atleast once around her waist as a tell of venerability, wisdom and good behaviour. dwarfs can use magic but as mentioned they do turn to stone eventually because they were originally made as the anti magic race and their bodies resist it, all dwarfs have a 25% spell resistance buff when used in the game too

Yup. If you have a dark elf ship nearby itll show a yellow outline on the campaign map. If you do a manual battle you can use the black arks as army abilities to do artillery strikes on the entire map. Malekith js actually the son of the first high elf king and that armor is bonded to him. He caused the high elves and dwarves to fight each other by attacking both sides and planting evidence. When that war happened, high elves wanted the high elves in bretonnia to help them and some of them chose to stay in the forest. The giant frog dude Mazdamundi actually caused the destruction of the dwarf golden age. He literally moved the continent tectonic plates since he saw it was out of order for the great plan LMAO. It led to what you would expect North and South Pole are basically giant webway gates or portals the old ones made but when chaos attacked and the old ones left, said portals malfunctioned thus permanently leaking chaos energy. You can travel to the realm of chaos from the north or south pole Yes. Skaven plagues are fucking annoying. You take attrition damage for your armies and unlike most plagues you can't garrison or use army movement stances to heal it. Literally just take damage for several turns and it can spread to nearby settlements lol Tomb kings were betrayed by Nagash. The guy who created vampires and invented Necromancy. Nagash is basically one of the big bad guys. Still around waiting to return. We'll probably see him next year or in 2025 for Warhammer 3. Nagash still fears and respects Settra though lol. Settra literally beat the shit out of nagash when he brought the tomb kings back to undead life lol. Archaeon who's the guy leading the armies of chsos used to be a Sigmar follower but rebelled. Fun fact. He actually blew up the Warhammer world because he thought it was better than letting it be a playground for chaos. In age of sigmar he realized that wasn't the best plan after the fact and now wants to be a chaos god to destroy the other ones. Despite being blessed by the other chaos gods he still hates them lol. The split personality vampire dude is actually a high ranking undead for nagash called a mortarch. That vlad guy is also one alongside neferata who's the first vampire. She's super hot but very deadly. She'll probably be playable when nagash does. Oh and she was a princess in the tomb kings when they were human. The oldest vampires were all tomb kings when they were human and before neferata turned them into vampires. Nagash cursed them with vampire weaknesses when they fled him when he called them for help against settra LMAO. Stuff like weakness to sunlight and what not. Think of nagash as the Uber Necromancer. He's the first one. Fun fact. Teclis taught humanity how to use magic properly. The guy in the first Warhammer 2 trailer. Cathay has several dragon children who are kinda like Fantasy primarchs. New lore and characters so we know little of them. The oldest child died before Yuan Bo was born. I have a theory one of them, the shadow dragon is secretly leading Fantasy Japan to the east of Cathay called Nippon (They'll probably be renamed if CA or GW works on them again lol) Ogres, Elves, Humans and Lizardmem were made by the old ones. Ogres however were incomplete when chaos attacked and the old ones left. True neutral faction. Suffer from eternal hunger due to the Dragon Emperor of Cathay summoning a giant meteor in their homeland called The Great Maw. Said maw of course has endless hunger and cursed every ogre on the planet with said hunger. Ogres worship it as their god. Don't fuck with the Dragon Emperor and Empress lol Also the dragons predate the old ones. Them and dragon ogres are basically the indigenous people of the world. Dragon children are full dragons that take on human appearance. Only dragons to do so. They also have children with humans and Cathay people who have dragon ancestry are basically superhumans to an extent

6:21 so about that, how should i explain this? A slann of the lizardmen decided that the mountains of the dwarfs needed to be moved a bit more to the left, then the skaven also caused even more earthquakes trying to expand skavenblight which damaged the dwarfs empire even more. On top of that hordes of orcs and goblins started invading through the broken underways, slaughtering untold thousands. the dwarfs are a dying species, when you look at a map of the warhammer world you will see the dwarfen holds, but only a few are still filled with dwarfs, or fully controlled by them.

There's an off-handed mention or two of an event called the 'War of the Beards'. THAT is what the High Elves call it, but humanity calls it the War of the Ancients. After Malekith fled to Nagaroth after his failed coup to take over Ulthuan, he and his followers bided their time in hiding for several centuries before making their next move. They orchestrated a series of raids on both the Dwarves and the High Elves, murdering all witnesses but leaving evidence to implicate both parties where appropriate. Eventually, the Dwarven High King at the time, Gotrek Starbreaker, sent a delegation of dwarf ambassadors to Ulthuan demanding compensation from the Phoenix King Caledor II and prevent a full-on war. Rather than humor the dwarves, investigating the matter, or simply just paying them off, Caledor was outraged that the dwarves would demand anything of him instead of pleading and begging. So he had their beards shaved and sent them back to Gotrek Starbreaker, who finally declared a War of Vengeance upon the High Elves. The war was long and bloody, devastating both sides in the conflict, and it only ended when Gotrek Starbreaker slew Caledor II and claimed the Phoenix King's crown as a trophy, declaring that the grudge that had incited the War of Vengeance had been settled and no more needed to die. The High Elves, in their arrogance, insist that the dwarves started a war over a handful of beards, and so they call it the War of the Beards, but it says a lot that the political incompetence Caledor II cemented the notion in their minds that a prestigious lineage did not in fact make for competent leadership, and so the position of Phoenix King has always been decided by vote ever since. Even though they had ALWAYS elected the Phoenix King via voting... Caledor II is also erroneously referred to by the elves as 'Caledor the Fool' and 'Caledor the Idiot', though they'll never admit to it. As for Maliketh? The incitement of the War of Vengeance was such a heinous betrayal of the dwarven people that the first High King of the dwarves, Snorri Longbeard, _rose from the dead_ as a living spirit of dwarven vengeance called Grombrindal, the White Dwarf. Why? Because Malekith and Snorri were best friends, and Malekith swore an oath to Snorri on the High King's deathbed that he would remain loyal to the things they fought for, and part of that was ensuring that the elves and dwarves would remain allies until the end of time. I should mention that the dwarves _believe_ Grombindal is actually Snorri Longbeard, and Snorri would very much be the exception to the rule because he was the son of Grungni, the chief god of the dwarven pantheon, and his coffin was inscribed with powerful runes of vengeance by the best dwarven runesmiths. Still, it's amusing to think that all dwarves can rise from the dead if you piss them off enough, and ONLY Malekith has managed to do that.

not only that, the dark elf assasins sent were captured and brought to Nekara where they would give Nagash lessons in Dhar, dark magic, which helped making him into the most powerfull necromancer in the warhammer world, this means the war of the beard also indirectly causes the downfall of Nehekhara

Slight addition to his Wood Elves bit, the Wood Elves can, and absolutely do, hunt other people for sport, even when those people aren't on their land. They've killed Dwarfs by traveling way out if their way to block a trade route nowhere near Athel Loren, and will butcher Bretonnians just for fun (with one notable Elf getting himself killed because his magic armour only protected him from magic weapons, and not the knife carried by the peasant girl he lured).

The Elves were all once one people. But when the Phoenix King Aenarion died, his son Malekith sought to take his place and was denied. This then caused a civil war which split the Elves into the High and Dark Elves. Malekith then schemed and plotted for centuries for ways to weaken the High Elves so he could return and take the throne. This included staging a raid on a Dwarf trade caravan and pinning the blame on the High Elves. When a Dwarf emissary sought an explanation from the current Phoenix King, the Phoenix King denied involvement. Tensions rose until the Phoenix King ordered the Dwarf be shaved and cast out of Ulthuan. This led to what the Dwarfs call The War of Vengeance or, as the High Elves call it, the War of the Beard. After years of fighting, Malekith made his move and the High Elves were forced to pull back to Ulthuan. But there were those who were sick of fighting so they stayed in the Old World and settled in Athel Loren, where they would eventually become the Wood Elves.
@LordEsel88

One thing to note about the different factions of Elves is that after the wars that split them, they solidified their spiritual views. The High Elves almost exclusively worship the gods of Heaven (the Cadai), the Dark Elves focus on the gods of the Underworld (the Cytharai), and the Wood Elves have mixed worship but focus on the gods of nature.

39:37 that is true, Ulthuan is a floating island that was given to the elves as their home by the Old Ones, since it is a magical island it is verry difficult to reach and it is the only place the skaven have not reached yet, orcs and goblins also never showed up there, until Grom the Paunch, the most infamous Goblin of all goblins was given a mission by Gork and Mork (the orc gods) themselves. Grom left the empire which he had almost completely butchered and set out to sea, most of his army drowned but he still managed to reach Ulthuan with a sizable army. Grom's invasion was devastating and the warbosses shaman instructed him to tople waystones that kept the isle afloat as well as kept the great vortex (which funnels away chaos energy from the mortal realm) running. pancreasnowork made a vid about Grom as well

Dwarves can't cast spells traditionally, because it petrifies them slowly (the leader of the Chaos Dwarves is 50% stone by now so he had to build himself an exosuit so he could keep moving). How exactly that interacts with runes in the lore is not something I know much about, but yeah.
@pile-o-nonsense3688
@pile-o-nonsense3688 7 месяцев назад
It's actually pretty easy: Normally, a magic user calls upon the Winds of Magic and channels them thought themself to cast spells. This can cause the magic user to be overwelmed and go insane or die. At the very least it slowly changes them thought, no matter if they're dwarfs or not. Dwarfs also call upon them but instead do so using complex rituals before forcing the Winds not into themselves but into an object which would be the rune. This makes runes very simplistic but also very effective since there's a very low chance of them running out of control and doing stuff they're not supposed to do.

1:09:28 That was actually a change that Greasus got in Patch 4.1. He was so fast that the game couldn't actually work properly with it due to animation limitations so he was still slower then what he should have been technically capable of (his speed could be buffed in the campaign too, even beyond 500).Sadly, this didn't work with his actual charge speed which would override his new speed and instead slow him down to his old speed... unless you don't target the enemy unit and just order him to move THROUGH it instead of charging INTO it at which point he keeps all of his speed anyway while damaging enemy units. After all, he didn't technically charge them! 1:09:41 I don't recall this being a thing in WHF although the ogres could still eat some insane stuff like hot lava and troll meat without dying if they trained themselves hard enough. The ogors (who are all but outright said to be related to ogre survivors from WHF) from Age of Sigmar are known to eat demons though by using Maw-Pots. This is because Maw-Pots are divine artifacts and thus mess up the very essence of things like demons. There's also plenty of storys of them eating some insane stuff like enemy war machines (piece by piece, even the fuel which ended up killing the poor guy), ghosts, souls, raw magic ect.

So funny story about Maliketh. Originally, the Flame of Asuryan DID reject him, but come the End Times there was a significant retcon where the Flame didn't actually reject Malekith, because he was the son of Aenarion the Defender, the first Phoenix King, who had cast himself into the Flame as well. What people forget is that the Flame of Asuryan _burned_ Aenarion to death as we walked through it, and then he rose as the Phoenix King and walked out the other side stronger and angrier than ever before as a living embodiment of Asuryan himself. This was NOT a painless process, and the Phoenix King is supposed to use magic to pass through the flames unscathed upon their coronation; something Aenarion and Bel Shaanar the Explorer, the Second Phoenix King, both presumably did during their coronation, but Aenarion specifically chose to walk back into the fire a second time without protection. Maliketh chose to ignore the traditional wards because he believed he was the rightful king and would not need the protective wards because his father had managed to survive without them, so when he went into the Flame of Asuryan without any wards and discovered that fire is indeed very hot, he was understandably quite surprised and ran screaming back the way he came rather than committing like Aenarion. So, technically Malekith has ALWAYS been the rightful king of the elves, but his own fuck-ups, misunderstandings and hesitation has forever denied him his birthright.

@Brutalyte616

@@TheLegitWeebs Very tragic. It's also revealed in the End Times that every other Phoenix King besides him basically cheated their way into the position by not allowing themselves to be burned by the Flame of Asuryan and thus never accepting the judgment of Asuryan, and this caused a curse of madness to proliferate in all the Phoenix Kings thereafter, although they generally died before they got too crazy or their madness manifested in the common character flaws associated with the High Elves, namely arrogance, hubris, and a frankly disturbing willingness to wage war and commit murder when it's convenient and doesn't involve the elves. This is capped off with Malekith siding with the forces of Good/Order during the End Times managing to retake Ulthuan, and going back into the Flame of Asuryan one more time to prove his legitimacy as king and coming out still burnt but alive. He subsequently became an Incarnate of the Winds of Magic embodying the Wind of Shadows, declared himself the Eternity King, lead the High Elves and Dark Elves to the safety of Athel Loren after the sinking of Nagaroth and Ulthuan, and rode things out until the end of the world as the king of all elves. Sounds good on paper, but the End Times was NOT handled very well and was received very poorly the Warhammer community, and so what should have been a Shakespearean tragedy of the rightful king losing his chance at the throne due to hubris and a series of misunderstandings and straying from the path of righteousness before he mends his ways and takes his place as the rightful king in the end became a comedy of errors that only served to highlight that the elves and their gods are assholes and the writers at the time didn't know how to the lore with proper respect.

You had it in one on the "rock, paper, scisors" mechanic, as units are naturally better at different things like spearmen being able to resist or outright ignore the extra damage charging units do, while some units are "ethereal" and incredibly resistant to purely physical attacks and ignore enemy armor, but fold like paper mache if targetted by a damaging spell or a unit with magically imbued weapons. Yes, vamp counts are very reliant on their leaders and also very very thin on ranged units, but a clever player can utilize a combination of their corpse carts and resilient, resurrecting chaff to drag the enemy into a war of attrition they cannot win. There's even a unit or two that imbues the weapons of all units around them with magic, so they can ignore the physical damage resistance of things like dwarven slayers and chaos daemons.
@Razielts1
@Razielts1 6 месяцев назад
11:23 yes, the dwarfs are naturally resistant to magic, and if they use it, they turn to stone. Its due to the fact that at it's core, magic is the energy of chaos, translated into many emotions / actions. The dwarfs of old thus decided to create rune magic to even the playing field. By inscribing runes into something and slamming them with the hammer they can channel and concentrate the winds into them, thus using them in an indirect way that doesnt use their body as a medium, but the rune instead.

At the same time they are recruiting hubs, and you can build on them, while also providing artillery support if you start a battle in their range, it also increases the loot and slaves you obtain if you finish battles in their range. The other added dynamic is that due to their moving nature, you can focus building economic buildings on cities to bolster your economy, leaving the black arks to take on the recruitment buildings.

Beastmen actually do worship the Chaos Gods individually, but that comes down to the preferences of the individual and their Warherd. There are Khorngors, Slaangors, Tzaangors, and Poxigors, who are all Beastmen who have sworn themselves to one Chaos God in particular, although in practice the Beastmen are, much like Norsca and the Warriors of Chaos, a Chaos Undivided faction that fields specific units devoted to a Chaos God, rather than an entire army list and playstyle dedicated to one Chaos God. The Champions of Chaos fill that particular role in Total War: Warhammer 3, although from a lore and tabletop perspective they'd either be lumped into the Warriors of Chaos or specific factions tied to each Chaos God depending on how the organisational structure of the armies at the time. Case in point? Dragon Ogres USED to be part of the Beastmen army list, being monstrous inhuman beasts devoted to Chaos instead of regular human followers of Chaos, before getting transferred out of the Beastmen as a faction and getting stuck in the Warriors of Chaos. There is technically nothing stopping a named Dragon Ogre or other Chaos Lord leading a multi-faction Chaos army, but for the sake of simplicity this is streamlined to avoid occurrences of faction soup when certain armies are allowed to mix units too easily. Look up the idea of 'Imperial soup' and tell me that doesn't sound nightmarish to manage...

One thing you pointed out with the beastmen is actually one of my biggest gripes with GW: you are, indeed, right, there are supposed to be beastmen of any kind of animals HOWEVER GW only produced goats (gors) and bulls (minotaurs). Of course, you can kitbash and there are a lot of 3rd party options... but if you wish to partecipate in any official competition (no matter if a game tournament or a painting one) you HAVE to only use official GW parts or parts sculpted by you (which is legit, but I still would like some more options, like boars and co). Recently GW has introduced beastmen specifically for Tzeentch (tzaangors) and they are basically horned, wingless birdmen... you know Tzeentch loves himself a good bird. Oh, (kinda) fun fact about Morathi: her old model was topless and, for that, it was notoriously one of the most STOLEN model in tournaments and shops alike... guess thirsty losers were always a thing...

Even then it is mostly Clan Skyre and their concurents that have the most technological power, which they sell for warp tokens. dwarves however take extremely long before they decide something is ready to be widely used, unlike skaven who are not so cautious, some dwarf engineers have made sentry turrets, submarines, and zeppelins, but the other dwarves don't always trust these new things that much and tend to be more conservative. the Empire meanwhile is innovating frequently, the plans for steamtanks may be lost, but it is telling that they have a rivalry with dwarfs on who invented the first rifle. they are improving sniper rifles, armor, gunpowder and more, Nuln is propably the most technologically advanced in that regard. when it comes to reliability the dwarves come first and the humans second, however when it comes to the destructive power then Skyre's crazy engines of war are superior.

Grimgor Ironhide has legit only "lost" twice and calling them losses is even a bit of a stretch. The first time Grimgor was technically defeated was in a massive battle against the chaos lord Krom the Conqueror when they faced off in Norsca. While the chaos host and the orc Waaaagh slammed into eachother the herald of Archaeon and the green slaughterer met in the middle to engage in single combat. Grimgor went in with pure berzerk strength and just tried to cut Krom down as quickly as possible while Krom used his superior speed and shield to block and parry away Grimgor. This made Grimgor enraged, he had come here because he heard that the worshipers og chaos were great warriors, yet here was their lord, parrying, defending, evading. Grimgors rage grew with every attack blocked and every blow dodged, with his attacks becoming faster and stronger as his rage grew. After a while, Krom jumped backwards and lowered his weapons, just looking at Grimgor. Grimgor simply shouted "KEEP FIGHTING!". Yet Krom simply stood there and that's when Grimgor looked around and realised something. He was completely surrounded by chaos warriors and his own army was fleeing over the hills. Grimgor was not happy about this, but he wasn't stupid, he knew he couldn't take on an entire chaos host by himself. So he simply backed away, walking through the chaos warriors who parted like a sea before him, glaring in every direction, just daring any of them to try and stop him. Once he had walked so there were no more chaos warriors around him he hoofed it after his army, probably screaming curse words with every step The second time Grimgor was defeated was the time when he died. At the climax of the end times Grimgor faced off against Archaeon the ever chosen, lord of the end times, as he thought Archaeon was the only person left in the world who could give him a proper fight. So Grimgor and Archeon locked horns, battling in the middle of the shattered remains of the city of Middenheim. As the fight dragged on, slowly but surely, Archaeon was forcing Grimgor back, but then as they clashed their weapons together, pushing against each other, Grimgor pull his head back and delivered an earthshaking 'EADBUTT! to Archaeon. Shattering the magical crystal called the eye of Shirrian which gave Archaeon sight a few seconds into the future as well as shattering his helmet, the crown of domination. This swung the fight firmly into Grimgors favour and he begun to push Archaeon back, eventually overpowering him. But Archaeon had a trick up his sleeve that Grimgor did not see coming. As Grimgor went for the killing blow Archaeon released Uzhull, the demon inside his sword named the slayer of kings. This demon gave Archaeon extreme increase in strength, speed and durability. Catching Grimgor completely off guard Archaeon unleashed such a flurry of blows that Grimgor did not even have time to raise his axe to defend himself as he was cut down by the lord of the end times

warhammer fantasy has been split into two...well sort of 4 versions depending on how you see it - the OG Warhammer was set in the same universe as 40k - the Chaos Gate at the north pole is actually a broken Slaan warp gate that fell from orbit while it still open during the War in Heaven era (C'tan/Necron vs Slaan aka The Old ones) and Chaos Champions could get a dark blessing called "Gift of Technology" which allowed you to pick a ranged weapon from the Chaos Spacemarine army list and have it fused to their arms.... as you can imagine a boltgun or plasma cannon is this setting was OP as all hell.... oh and the Berserker Blade artefact was just a chainsword that would rebound on a roll of 1 and hit the wielder XD as you can imagine this version was phased out. for the longest time the main line Warhammer was a table top game of squares and rectangles - strong unit and regiment focus which is the setting that The Total War series follows. Then there was The Age of Sigmar which took a lot of the systems from 40k like smaller loose squad style formations and......added an Angelic counter part to the Chaos Warriors which sort of lessened the grimdarkness abit IMO. This is the current version of the Table Top game. and finally there is the Up and coming Warhammer: The Old World which is basically a return to older version with some revised rules which I'm personally looking forward to. ^_^

So, yes you preferably want to set up defensive formations in trees, cuz they get buffed that way. Wood elves differentiate from the others by being the faction with the highest magic affinity, and archer variety. So they really focus on the range aspect of the elves. High elves have higher defenses and stats than other elves if their hp is higher than 50%; Dark elves focus on flanking and team attacks, and their ability is if enough models die, they go into murderous prowess, and deal a lot more damage for x seconds.

The greenskins are “Chaos Neutral, the faction”. They don’t care who you fight for; Norscan, human, Dwarf, Elf, Undead, Skaven, Daemon… they all have fights to give, and loot to pillage, and that’s what a green skin lives for: fighting and winning. They have no semblance of culture other than Might makes Right at a distance, but they’re smarter (and more religious) than what they seem, especially their warbosses, for after having lived countless battles you inevitably start learning a thing or two about your enemies. But when a Warboss gets too smart, everybody knows they’re a threat that must be put out before it’s too late. It also helps that their bravado also increases with their infamy, but if they’re infamous, it means they have a HUGE following. They’re the black mold equivalent of irl housing. Nobody knows where it came from, everyone hates it, and it’s very hard to get rid of. Still, they’re the “great equalizer”, when a faction gets too strong, the greenskins start to fight them out of joy, making the “strong” faction fight a battle of attrition as more warbands come knocking at their doors until they’re beaten, and the greenskins bored. They don’t do it out of goodness out of their hearts or strategic nuance, they do this because they like fighting. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm late to the party, but been enjoying your Total War Warhammer reactions! I saw in one of your videos you wanted to see how the character and unit looks in actual gameplay. And I'd recommend looking at the Sync-kill compilations people upload. There's a channel that called DyslexicEphelant most of them, and a channel called TotalWarLibrary that has some of the more recent stuff. They are some cool animation showcases that show the units in action. Then there are cinematic footage like EngagingBears. His is all actual gameplay, but just filmed in a cinematic way. Highly recommend his videos, particularly "Legendary Strength" or some of his other battle montages.

Glad you're enjoying them! I've been recommended EngagingBear's channel before so it's definitely on my list of things to check out, but I do plan to stream the game at some point so I don't want to dabble too much into the gameplay side of things just yet.

Something not touched upon is within the empire they worship multiple gods depending on the region, the men of Kislev and Middenheim for instance worship Ulric instead of Sigmar, a hunter god of winter, he's all about self reliance and toughness. Or Morr the god of death, but he's more a god based around the protection of the dead from unnatural resurrection from necromancy. There's also men from other kingdoms which have no connection to the empire such as Bretonnia or Araby

That was a point that a lot of comments brought up when talking about gods in both fantasy and 40k. There's just so many more gods in Fantasy. Some of the gods you mentioned I haven't even heard of till this comment.

@@TheLegitWeebs yeah it's not mega important to the game, but lore wise the empire in fantasy is extremely diverse in cultures and beliefs, basically as long as you're not praying to chaos then you're good, it can range from poorly armed peasants who fight with zeal and determination like Stirland to a highly advanced industrial based society who use steam punk tanks such as the city of Nuln. The empire is wild in the lore

Ngl Gor-Rok and Kroak can solo the entire campain :) It's easily one of my fav one (well, two) man doomstacks after Malus-Darkblade who can also paint the whole map red :) If you wanna start with something fun and simple, i REALLY SUGGEST either Gor-Rok , a free dlc for lizardmen (other lizardmen are a bit harder). or a high-elf faction, Tyrion is the most beginner-friendly. (I would normally suggest Imrik cause dragons go brrrrrrr, but his start is difficult for a beginner) But either way you gonna have a blast. Can't wait to see it. ^_^

Thanks for the suggestion! The lizardmen just speak to me so Gor-Rok is very likely. Can't wait to embarrass myself live on stream as I lose to the easiest campaign difficulty though lmao

If you want more in-depth lore, you sgould check out channels like Loremaster of Sotek, Great Book of Grudges, ItalianSpartacus and other such channels. Though this is probably better do in your private time, not really good reaction videos. I also recommend just reading the wiki.

10:20 Dwarf women do indeed exist, but they do not have beards. Rather, they have plaits, or long braided hair. Beards are very, VERY important to Dwarfs culturally, as a beard can heavily signify what type of dwarf that beard belongs too as well as their station. As Dwarfs do not cut their beards (Except to lightly groom it), the length of a dwarfs beard indicates their age, with young Dwarfs being called Beardlings as their Beard barely reaches their waste, while an elder Dwarf can earn the title of 'Long-Beard' for... obvious reasons. Dwarf Women care for their plates just as fiercely as any male would his beard, with young Dwarf women known as Plaitlings. A unique but sad fact about Dwarf genetics results in a skewed gender ratio, with one or two women born for every eight to nine men. As such, Dwarf women are kept out of danger as much as possible out of necessity for the Dwarf Kingdoms survival, though every century the Dwarfs grow smaller in number. Karaz-a-Karak, the largest, mightiest, and most populated Dwarf Hold in the entirety of the Old World and seat of the High King, hosts but a measly 95,000 citizens in the current age. The actual number of Dwarfs may number around 100,000 due to Dwarf merchants and delegations from other Holds, but I doubt it exceeds 100,000 on its best of days. Its great halls lie open and rather empty, as the hollow mountain is a literal shell of its former self compared to its Golden Age.

40K is Grimdark- there is no hope, we are doomed, life sucks and it won't be any better, the encroaching darkness will consume us all in the end. Fantasy was just grim. The odds were hefty and the life harsh, but there was a glimmer hope and in spite of everything humanity held the tide. That is, untill GW did The End Times, and unlike Storm of Chaos that was equally if not more shit, End Times wasn't retconned and stuck around. It's not even the fact that they ended the Fantasy but how they did it. It felt like GW spit in our faces and took a fat steaming shit on our bed. Some of the highlights were things like Thorgrim getting assassinated by Snikch via knife in the back bc he forgot to close the door behind him... Absolutely no respect to the setting or any of the characters with the only person in the entire setting that got a cool sendoff being Settra.
@TheLegitWeebs

That's unfortunate. Will have to take a look at the end times at some point myself and have a discussion on it.
@edim108

@@TheLegitWeebs The End Times is basically a "how not to write books 101". Of the really major plot points that didn't make any sense at all we got stuff Malekith becoming the Phoenix King bc it turned out he was supposed to be the rightful heir of Aenerion but I guess Asuryan missclicked that couple thousand years ago which is why Malekith got burnt like a chicken nugget the first time and everyone is cool with it for some reason despite all the heinous crimes Malekith committed and CONTINUED TO COMMIT after becoming The Phoenix King- even Alith Anar, the BIGGEST Dark Elf hater in the setting, was cool with it. Skaven joined the forces of Chaos in their attempt to destroy the world for whatever reason (I guess the Great Horned Rat felt extra quirky that day). Stuff was wack as hell... Pancreasnowork did really good job covering that in broad strokes and how it could have been "better" in his "Making End Times Better" video so I highly recommend it.
