Starting off, by "author favouritism bat" Pancreas means that, especially in 40k, Chaos is treated as the eventual winners, and so they don't get handed any significant losses, at all. Everyone else is failing and dying slowly, yet no matter how badly Chaos can lose, even if they lose 90% of their mortal followers, they'll pop out a new army next Tuesday and be back to do it all over again while the heroes bemoan their lot in life. In the End Times this was particularly bad, where the authors just went "oh yeah they won against the most heavily fortified fortress in the Empire... Offscreen. This also goes back to Storm of Chaos where GW ignored the idea of players deciding how the campaign went because Chaos was losing so badly. GW has always treated Chaos as something you will barely survive, if you don't lose to it outright. So, Seraphon (yes, their name was changed so GW could copyright it, you can't copyright Lizardmen, also Seraphon used to be the name of Malekith's dragon, they just reuesed it) in Age of Sigmar have Star Trek level technology, they appear in bolts of lightning because that's how their transporters look when they teleport things, they fly around in giant spaceships that look like pyramids, they have terraforming machines, and for a while they were written to create new Lizardmen out of thoughts, making them the order equivalent of Daemons (every non-Slann even had the Daemon keyword to show their similarity for a while). That last part was eventually retconned out, but their technology was only expanded since them, making them not only the most technologically advanced race in the setting (they make the Skaven look like cavemen) and the Slann are functionally immortal deities, who can literally put themselves back together even if they die, while Kroak is powerful enough to rearrange constellations on a whim. As for the old ones, according to 6th edition, the old ones were devoured by the chaos gods when the polar gates collapsed. If they even had a great plan, it would never be written out or understood. So about the Lizardmen working with people, they live in Azyr, the same place that the Sigmarites live in (naturally that includes Sigmar himself), and not only are they useful, but Sigmar doesn't really have any ability to tell them to get lost since they can just fly anywhere they want, so you kind of have to accomodate them. They don't exactly make plans to fight together, but if the Sigmarites are fighting and Lizardmen join, or they see the Seraphon fighting, it's just smart to help out since there's no downsides. Saves are done on a D6, not a D10, so a 6+ save means you have a 1/6 chance of living, or a 0/6 chance if the enemy can lower that save by any means. Carnosaurs are the reason there are no dragons in Lustria, that much is true. They are extremely aggressive and have a complex about other creatures they consider their competition. Dragons are stronger, but there's a lot more Carnosaurs, so living in Lustria was not ideal for dragons.

The Lizardmen not liking each other is a Total War thing. Their leaders, the Slann, do little besides sleep or meditate on the will of the Old Ones, so they don't actually do diplomacy. They are essentially organic robots, the idea of civil war and power struggles are alien concepts to them. That said, there are some religious tension. Sotek, the Serpent God, is not an Old One, but a random god the Skinks started to worship when Clan Pestilens wreaked havoc in Lustria. Tehenhauin, aka Aztec Murder Moses, came out of nowhere with a plaque foretelling the coming of a great snake and started sacrificing ratmen, Aztec blood ritual style. The Slann refused to acknowledge Sotek at first, and still barely tolerates the worship by the End Times begin.

Theres a great early AOS story for the seraphon that shows how they view their "allies" as just tools for the great plan. Sigmars stormcast were heading to kill a necromancer who was raising a large undead army. The seraphon decided they didnt like that and went and killed all the stormcast. The reason; given the space and time to grow his force the necromancer was able to repel and crush a massive chaos force that wouldve beaten the weakened stormcast after they had fought the neceomancer. The slaans foresight meant they knew that the undead army would suceed against chaos where sigmar was going to fail.

Games Workshop has a very long history with their desire to privatize copyrights. One of the main reasons for the closure of fantasy Warhammer was that almost all the factions were not completely owned by them. Initially, the setting was purchased from one of the founding fathers of the fantasy genre, Michael John Moorcock. In addition, many factions were almost a complete copy of the armies of the history of the real world (minus the heraldry) Or they were based on a basic concept that was invented long before GW. On the one hand, this means that many people, instead of buying incredibly expensive official miniatures, could buy miniatures of, say, real Landsknechts, and then, if desired, simply paint them in the colors of the Warhammer Empire On the other hand, GW lawyers are known for many scandals in which they tried to sue someone for copyright. For example, I remember how they sued Lucas over the name "Imperial Guard" (in the end they shot themselves in the foot and had to rename the guards themselves) They sued many times for the exclusive rights to "power armor" (a concept invented long before them in Starship Troopers) They were suing for the rights to the “undead” (in general, all undead, including vampires, skeletons and ghosts) They were suing for demons. They were suing for the lizardmen. They tried to sue the dinosaurs. They also sued the Warcraft developers for the “greenness” of orcs This is why almost all fantasy factions have been heavily rebranded in AoS. Including the lizardmen who became sort of immaterial "demons of order" (although this was partially retconed) The only original fantasy faction that hasn't been heavily rebranded into AoS is the Skaven. Which on the one hand is very cool, because one of the most original and distinctive factions has remained so, yet many of the changes in AoS for other factions were quite idealess and boring. On the other hand, this means that the Skaven are actually hostages of copyright in the hands of GW and we will never see even the slightest resemblance of them in other fantasy

Oh, I’ve been waiting for this one. Edit: 32:38 Saves are made with a D6, so if those Skinks get hit with anything that has rend they lose their save.

11:10 funny enough thats something Nakai is very good at doing, he gets access to near permanent abilities in every battle to call down a unit of feral cold ones thrice per battle and razordon hunting packs also thrice per battle which gives you essentially 6 additional units to plop down anywhere you need them (though they are spawned units so they go away after a while) on top of the free units he also gets an invulnerability to use which stops a unit from taking any damage for a good while and a tornado spell to cause further problems for the enemy if you like lizardmen and free abilities Nakai is where its at

14:41 That one wasn't quite accurate. Kroak did help seal a god called Kragnos in Age of Sigmar but Morathi wasn't there. When Kragnos managed to break free though Kroak and Morathi worked together while defending a city called Excelsis: Kroak did it because he already had beef with Kragnos and Morathi was there because she stole a city from Sigmar after a ton of different events and was forced to defend Excelsis. The problem was that Kragnos had an insane magic resistance and they had nobody that could beat him in melee or enough magic to overpower his defence... but they did manage to outsmart him with a simple illusion and a portal trick, leading to Kragnos being dropped off in the middle of nowhere and far away from Excelsis.

Yes in fantasy Dragons were among the first races to exist even before the old ones arrived and then they terraformed lustria and started creating the lizardmen from the great beast dna and so forth they also didled with the great lizards dna to make them more useful so even more aggressive so they attack dragons on the ground and nests and since dragons take a lot longer to mature the great lizard beat them out of the survival race

Games Workshop rebranded most of 40k's factions from generic words to something more copyrightable, I'd assume the same thing happened with Fantasy to Age of Sigmar. For example, Space Marines changed to Adeptus Astartes, Imperial Guard became Astra Militarum, Eldar became the Aeldari, etc. They've just turned it into a lore thing with English (Low Gothic) being the language of the lesser educated (Space Marine) and Bastardised Latin (High Gothic) being the language of the nobles and proper intellectuals. Seraphon comes from the word Seraphim, which is a type of angel, something that is super opposed to demons. The Starborne are literally thoughts given form and sent down to the Realms to deal with Chaos and other troublemakers.

Man you should really watch the Lorebeards on Tehenhauin, a great video about how Lizardmen society actually functions, what the Old Ones are and how awesome Tehenhauin is.

You can play as either a Skink or a Saurus in the AoS Soulbound RPG. They have a sourcebook talking about how to do that. Even gives some tips about how to portray how alien they are.

I recommended watching Legendoftotalwar. He is a Total war streamer very experienced and is also easily one of the best and most experienced and enjoyable warhammer 3 campaign player to watch.

GW nuked Warhammer Fantasy Battles as a setting because it just wasn't doing as well as 40K and they felt (with some degree of truth) that a part of that was that it wasn't super easy to have a unique, copywrite clad faction when you have humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Orks, dragons, and other token fantasy beings. So they rebuilt the setting using some existing races and characters to frame the new setting but with some tweaks. Dwarfs are now Duardin, Elves are now Aelves, Lizardmen are Seraphon, Orks are Orruks, etc. Although the ones who were already fairly unique got to stay more or less the same. So the big Chaos factions are the same, the Skaven are still Skaven, and the Ogres are more or less the same still.

For 40k tabletop battles, I recommend wintersSEO channel. Well edited and mostly about the game, which I like(checked out some other channels, where people tend to ramble on and think that people are there to watch them not the game). In warhammer only dice you need is d6. There is no d10.

Old fantasy, we always rolled D6's. Not sure what it is in Age of Sigmar.

There were no dragons in all of lustria in fantasy because the ones that didn't flee the content were all hunted to extinction by the carnosors

Lizardmen is a generic fantasy word that can be used by just about anyone. GW, being big fans of having absolute control over their IP, proceeded to rename their established factions and races to help them keep said control. Fun fact, this is also why Malal isn’t a thing anymore, because someone else owns him.
