Murat Topçu i think the Golf R is a seriously good car. It's fun to drive, has enough power and hp, great sound and is still very practical - it's a Golf! :) - and affordable. Plus it has fourwheel drive. I don't know how it compares to a z5. Isn't the z5 a car that isn't released yet or am i missing something?

Although, the centered exhaust on my dad's R32 is badass and screams "sporty", but so does quad exhaust. Why is one sporty style good for a hatch and not another

Yep - VW add a Soundaktor to the GTI and R. I'm not sure if it uses the speakers or if it just sends engine vibrations through the windscreen. Either way it's artificial. Though it doesn't sound that much different with the soundaktor removed.

Dat is waarom ik de RS3 noemde. Oh, en wat die beginnersauto betreft; ze zijn eigenlijk hetzelfde. De Golf is veel goedkoper, hoewel de Audi iets beter schijnt te rijden. Al vraag ik me af hoe je dat überhaupt als beginnersauto kan betalen... Oh, en wat je ook doet, begin met een handbak. Anders vergeet je meteen weer hoe dat moet.

Lol nee hoor, ben al voor de lol auto's gaan testen, de laatste was de m235i dus gewoon doen!

Is het niet schandalig om die mensen tijd in je te laten steken, op een testrit te gaan, de auto gebruiken, de naft verbruiken en dat terwjil je al weet dat je 99% kans de auto toch niet gaat kopen? :S dat houdt me wat tegen.

It depends a lot on the car, less powerfull cars such as a golf 2.0 TDI or a 1.6 tfsi will usually be manual, but the more powerfull cars such as Golf R, Audi S3, BMW 328i/335i will often be found in automatics.

didn't know that... My time there could have been easier had I'd known that. But I'm happy, that I learned to drive a manual. My GTI 6 speed is very nice in the US. Could be better in Germany, but I'm working on my return.

David Winstanley 300hp sounds like passion. And pretty much anyone agrees that this version is miles better than any other.

My dad owns limited edition 2007 R32, # 300 something out of 3,000 or so made. LOVE that car, it sounds fantastic. But, to be honest, although its response is immediate off the line with AWD and all, from a roll it's a bit of a letdown stock. My MK6 APR stage 1 GTI pulls significantly harder than it, and the software remaps do basically nothing to the R32's version for performance. R32 and R aren't even the same platforms, honestly. R32 is basically an Audi A6 engine with 50 more horsepower, a 3.2 litre with 250 HP, naturally aspirated V6. Closer to a muscle-car's setup really but with AWD instead of rear. The newer R's are 2 litres of course and turbo-charged yet with more HP due to displacement, @ 292 in the states. The R32's also did not come with a manual transmission at least in the states. Just not even relatively close to being the same engines. You could obviously mod an R32 with a turbo or twin-turbo and achieve greatness but that's a LOT more money than a remap with an intake/downpipe..

Because german cars are the best.

Trying to make the same decision as well haha but I'm leaning towards the s4 with the pulley upgrades. This is a bit of speculation but smaller engine pushing more boost i assume would put much more wear and tear on your engine. i have an stage2+ b7 manual a4 s-line and even with proper maintenance,oil changes every 3-5k miles the engines seems to be running rougher and rougher.

yeah, I am leaning towards the S4 as well, and plan on testing the new M235i…I currently have a mk4 337 with APR 93octane, tried a few times to get into an R32 but it never seemed to be a smart buy, especially now that they are holding their value, and you will spend 20k on something that will need a min of 5k of work very soon, like bushings, timming chanes, haldex service, you name it, and that 20k will be a pretty good down payment on a new car…So, its going to be tough because I wanted so bad for the mk7 6 to be 6cyl so bad (and a little better looking) and not another 2.0L turbo! no matter how much power, plus the seats in the mk7 R are so, so, so cheap looking, and I'm big on nice buket leather seats and the seats in the S4, amazing, and are what should be in the mk7 R (including the 3.0T) then you will have a real golf R, something that will stand apart from the all the GTI's, A3's, and S3's…Then this happens, I look at the price and the money saved btwn the the 2 cars, including the M235i, which the one tested on the chris harris video vs the mk7 R, is 55k (the S4's are also 50K!?, and correct me if I'm wrong) and the mk7 R with DSG is only 40k, and!! the golf R with stage 1 revo is just as fast as the S4 with the pulleys/stage 1 revo, so…I guess it will all be left up to a test drive…
