Excellent video thanks. I know I'm very late to the comments but something to mention if it wasn't. I learnt the hard way but the skin bolts are all different and have a specific place they each go. Can't wait do my harness myself.
Great video I'm together and never mess with the window. That one connector you had to use the pick with threw me for quite a spell and then with the greatest of ease it let go.
Thank you for the update... it's unfortunate that my camera can not pick-up everything that I do, but my videos should provide enough of an overview for people, to give them an idea of what is being done. Thank you for watching!
wanted to see door lock/handle installation, after I installed mine, it doesn't open when I pull on the handle first time, need to pull twice or three times, also remote doesn't open or close driver door. when door lock was out, remote worked.
I followed the steps but after i installed the new harness, the airbag light came on and the door isn’t working. I’m gonna try rechecking the connectors tomorrow, hopefully it was human error instead or a popped/missing fuse
Hi, can you tell me the part number/name for the wiring harness? I need to do this repair also but I would like to go ahead and order the part ahead of time! Thanks!
Hey man, its probably been a while, but do you know exactly how to reinstall the door handle? I'm not getting how to do it, should i screew it back on with the interior wall still off as well? It will mainly just *look* like its installed, then instantly falls apart, I remember a small part (internal) shaped like the lock/key portion *fell* off but I kept it once to try to reinstall it if possible, which I'm hoping is easy. It' just doesnt feel right, and surely doesn't look right. It could be something simple to fix that I'm just missing. Thanks in advance!
John Reeves Watch part 1 starting at 5:25 then let me know if that didn't help. You'll see me removing it... installation is in reverse. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9gJVC7aC41I.html
gaaaaugh! All I needed to see was how you got the door skin back on X( I'm having trouble getting it back on while lining up the door handle/lock assembly in side.
Bought our VW used, missed out on recall :( What would be a fair price to pay repair shop for that job? Was thinking about doing it myself but not sure now. Great video!
mike fredlock I've only replaced a couple so far... as with anything, the more often one does a repair, the quicker it can be done. 1 to 1.5 hrs should be more than enough time for the first time.
Yes, that's why the harness was replaced... sometimes as many as 6 wires. Fixing broken wires is a temporary repair... repinning and running longer wires is better, but takes more time. Installing a new harness costs more, but is the quickest & best repair.
Depends on where you live / currency, how much the shop charges, how much the parts are etc. Wiring harness is Dealer item... so you can ask the parts store how much the wiring harness is. Removal & Installation shouldn't take more than 1 & 1/2hrs.
@@EXOVCDS So are you saying that if I get all the tools and the right part I can do this myself? Edit: no car fixing experience except fuses and headlights.
